Of Territorial Pouting and First Meetings

Cat and Dog

Joonmyeon sighed in frustration when the cat refused to move from his position from the couch, leaving his bit of mess around him. The smell of salmon floated around the home, making the grey cat’s nose twitch in irritation. He wasn’t especially a fan of fish, but holy crap; anything that Wendy made smelled amazing.

          “Chen, please, tonight is important.”

The cat refused to speak, pouting as he concentrated on his row.

The dog came out of the kitchen, wiping her hands on her apron. She was really excited to meet the woman since Joonmyeon told them yesterday about Irene that she spent all night searching for the perfect outfit to make a good first impression. She ended up wearing one of Chen’s favorites outfits on her: a grey sweatshirt with a denim jumper. This only made the cat pout even more.

“Wendy, please, maybe you can convince Chen to stop this protest,” Joonmyeon sighed as he started going up the stairs.

“He’s being territorial,” Wendy announced, surprising their human. Her tail wagged when he slammed his palm against his forehead.

“Of course he is,” their human sighed for the umpteenth time, “Well… then at least get him to straighten up. I need to get dressed. How’s the food?”

“If she arrives on time, the food should be ready right after she walks in.”

Giving his praises, Joonmyeon rushed upstairs and Wendy turned her attention to the cat, who was still pouting and knitting.

Maybe it was the excitement of meeting a woman or because she was a bit more dressed up than usual; Wendy found a bit of bravery in her and kneeled closed to the cat, nuzzling his jaw, “Chen.”

She noticed out of the corner of her eye that he fumbled for a second.

“Chen,” she hummed again, nuzzling his cheek.

          He didn’t fumble again.

“Jongdae,” she whispered, reaching out and slowly setting his knitting down on his lap.

“Wendy, there is nothing you can do that will make me act like I like this.”

The dog’s ears fell into her hair and her tail wagged low. She traced her hand from the side of his face down his jaw, pushing his face to look at her pleading expression, “We’re asking you to be civil.”

          “I don’t want to.”

Gulping, Wendy bit her lip and moved her hand down from his face to his neck, “If you are, you can complain to me tonight and I won’t stop you.”

Chen’s heart was racing, mentally cursing the dog for using these tingles she was giving him to sway him. His ear twitched as he thought of the dog doing more than just light touches, however, his train of naughty thoughts was interrupted when she pulled away and picked his knitting off his lap, tidying up around him. Confused, Chen rubbed his eyes and yawned. Is… is she trying to tempt me? Or is she teasing me?

He watched as she tidied up, pouting when she looked at him. She tried to convince him that tonight won’t be bad; however, he would make silly comebacks. When she was done, she kneeled next to him on the couch, touching his shoulder.

“I would like to see Joonmyeon happy with another human,” Wendy’s tail wagged as she poked the cat’s cheek, “However, if you don’t at least lighten up…”

Chen held her finger as he pushed it off his cheek, turning to her, “Or what?” His ear twitched.

The two didn’t realize how visibly close they were. Sure, cuddling almost all the time was close, however, as Wendy slowly drew upon the realization that she could count the cat’s eyelashes, she thought back to the time when the grey cat first nuzzled her in the backyard. It was one of the few times that she was wishfully thinking something else would happen, however, today wasn’t one of those days. Instead, she withdrew herself a bit, leaning back to get a better look of the cat’s face without feeling dizzy.

“Or…” she blanked, trying to think of what she was going to threat with. She honestly didn’t want to threaten him with anything because everything she could take away from him meant she was taking away from herself, too. She liked being selfish and being able to feel his tail curl around her when they slept and watching him eat everything she made with vigor.

“Or?” Chen chimed, pulling her closer with her arm, watching her blush with a daze, understanding now that he has a little bit of a spell on her. He had a smile on his face when she paused a bit too long because he leaned in and nuzzled her jaw, whispering into her ear, “My world is especially pretty today.”

As he nuzzled down to her neck, Wendy struggled to pull herself away, knowing what kind of effects the cat on her at the worst of times. Though she wanted nothing more than just to stay on the couch and feel this dizzying warmth surround them both, she physically stood up and placed a finger on his nose, stopping him from trying to draw her back in.

“Jongdae, please behave tonight. I don’t know what your issue is about Joonmyeon and this woman is, but if Jieun is a reason –remember: I still haven’t a clue what happened to her— and I might be stepping out of bounds for asking this, but please, for tonight, set her aside and focus on Joonmyeon’s happiness, okay?”

Chen stared at the dog, shocked that she was asking such a big thing. Without much thought and maybe too much concentration, Chen took the female’s wrist and leaned in just a bit to nuzzle in her palm, “I’ll tell you about Jieun if you tell me about your past.”

Wendy’s gaze hardened. Her jaw tightened and her ears laid flat against her head as the fur on her tail stood up a bit. The cat took notice how his ords made the atmosphere a bit dark; he didn’t understand why he suddenly said this, but now he was a bit fearful that she was going to react the same way with the grilled cheese incident.

The cat felt her hand grasp the side of his jaw firmly, making him know she meant business now, “No. I want you tell me about Jieun when you’re ready to tell me the same way I am to tell you about

Chapter 32: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! Well written and balanced Chapter! I just love the humor especially the "trying to become one with the matters" and "You ment when we get married" or"its calleda key and a lock , quite an invention" moment had me nearly falling from my chair from laughing XD
Also the moments between Irene and Chendy were great and i enjoyed them a lot becouse they were cute and thoght provoking at the same time so I hope to see more of their interaction ( and the fact that Junmyeon is their owner but Wendy is like : Yeah say whatever you want I am going to hug her anyway! ) Of course Joonmyeon and Irene own my ! The waking up scene ,Joon's "mini-Irene" thought ( i that moment i aww'ed out loud :D), Chen's question made my jaw drop for a second and the way you written Irene thoughts was perfect <3 And lastly the final scene just O MG i literally teard up ! And i dont know why but it got me emotional ! All in all as usual THANK YOU for writing this story<3 i was waiting for you to update but i know you have life and school that is the most important after all ( honsetly , i know the feeling , because of school i am writing this comment just now because i didnt have the time the day you updated -,-)
P.S. I have no idea how you will write their first time so we will have to wait and see, right? :P and when it comes to Jonnmyeon ..I hope he did hear her (and mayyybe he will keep it to himself and tell her the same thing later ( but not to late )in a very romantic way ? Idk i wonder what will be the next step in both of this relationships? )
