Eventually Jessica and Eunhyuk had their date. Soon afterwards their relationship became official. A year later, Jessica moved to China with her job and Eunhyuk followed her. It had been over a year since they had been living there. This would be the first time that Eunhyuk was visiting. It had been strange spending an entire year without him but it had been worth it. It had been worth it for Donghae to experience a life without Eunhyuk. It was a learning opportunity, finding out how to think selfishly for once. Donghae looked up to see the arrival announcement on the monitor. Eunhyuk’s plane was in. He stood and went to the correct terminal to wait for Eunhyuk. 

Finally he spotted him walking towards him with his large gummy smile plastered to his face. Donghae smiled back and walked quickly towards his friend. As he went towards him he couldn’t help noting that his heart hadn’t skipped a few seconds off its beat when he had spotted Eunhyuk. That was new. He really had changed. His smile grew as his arms curved around Eunhyuk’s back. His heart still keeping an even pace. Maybe this time he actually had a chance at just being friends with Eunhyuk without his heart getting burned in the process. 

“How have you been?” Eunhyuk asked. They were now in Donghae’s apartment talking in the lounge. With the TV keeping a constant hum in the background. .

“I’m great. Not much seems to have changed right?”

“No, you have, you seem…I don’t know, like you’re more confident some how.” Donghae thought about what he had said for a while. Before smiling softly and nodding. 

“I guess I am.” 

They talked about everything and nothing that night. Talking as though everything between them had never happened. As though they were just boys in a high school dorm, catching up after a long school break. 

Finally as the time came for them to go to sleep Donghae made an announcement, “There are some people that I would like you to meet. Friends of mine.”

Eunhyuk smiled, “ Of course.” With that they went to bed. Donghae lay there thinking abut the meeting. It was important, the most important people in his new life meeting the most important person in his old life.
