Profile
A Fan Fiction Writer's GuideI'm against profiles. Mostly because a lot of profiles give away the end of the story. Like you'll see some that say (can't forget the ulzzang):
Kim Min Ah-
-Nerd
-Shy
-Not popular
-Bullied
-Hates [insert male idol name] but eventually falls in love with him
Welp. No point in reading the actual story. I just got a spoiler right there in the profile. Woopdiedoo [clicks out].
I believe that all writing should be treated like a book. What Rick Riordan book have you seen that has about profiles that give information on his characters like personality, likes, dislikes, and a picture of what they look like (doesn't include the guide book)?
None.
Instead of using a profile to tell the readers, use your words (I sound like a mother lecturing her child on why not to punch other kids out of anger) and portray your character's personality and flaws that way instead of giving everything interesting away in the beginning.
If you do, there kind of is no point of reading the story. When reading, it's always fun to learn new twists and turns in their personality that you don't know about. Plus, a profile is like an outline and whatever you put there, you kind of have to stick to. You're basically restricted to only those things when writing is supposed to be blank and it's ready for your imagination to be put into words; it's not a premade outline that you're supposed to fill in.
