Exo - Christmas Day

“The dinner was great!” You rushed past Jongin who praised the Christmas dinner you had only a few minutes ago. You gave him a quick smile and nodded your head acknowledging his words. In your hand was a bowl that was filled with chips a while ago, but was now empty.

“I just need to fill this and I’ll be right back” You excused and went straight inside the kitchen. You placed the bowl on the kitchen counter and looked through every cabinet. You were too stressed out of your mind that you couldn’t even remember which cabinet contained with bags of chips. You stopped your hysterical act for a second and took a breather. You knew for sure that you wouldn’t have been like this if it wasn’t for Baekhyun.

“I wonder where he is” You finally found the bag of chips you were looking for and poured out the content inside the bowl. Your eyes were glued on the window directed to the driveway outside of the house. Today too Baekhyun had left the house in a rush without saying one word about where he was going. Dinner was already over and the guests were talking among themselves. It was getting dark outside and you knew after an hour or two the guests would leave too. “Isn’t he planning on coming back?” You whispered your hands crumbling up the now empty bag and tossed it inside the trashcan.

Suddenly it came to your mind that none of the guests had actually asked about Baekhyun’s whereabouts. Shouldn’t they be curious of where he was when he was your husband? Even Sora hadn’t asked one question. Even worst; your parents hadn’t even asked about him.

“Hey!” Joonmyun chirped stepping inside the kitchen making you snap out of your thoughts.

“Y-yeah?” You stuttered giving him a weak smile while brushing away your hair.

“You’re a great host” He complimented while heading over to you. Your smile became firmer this time being content with his confession. “But” He continued making your brows furrow. His hand plastered against the bowl and snatched it out of your hold making you blink. “Every great host need to relax once in a while. You go and rest and I’ll take care of this”

“No, it’s okay-“

“No” He spoke sternly his strong gaze placed on you and you pouted in response. “Do as I say. Kyungsoo has brought his portable piano with him so we’ll be singing Christmas songs soon!” He chirped right after smiling like a little kid and you couldn’t help but laugh.

“Okay” You nodded your head giving in about to head for the living room with Joonmyun. “Oh” You stopped your tracks and turned to Joonmyun. “Thank you” A small smile spread across your face and he couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Anytime” he winked in response and the two of you walked inside the living room together. He didn’t let you do anything for the rest of the evening. He took care of everything while you were enjoying the Christmas songs and the last hour everyone was gathered.

“Thank you for coming I appreciate it!” You bid goodbye to everyone as they decided to leave at the same time leaving you alone.

“You were great, dear and your food was delicious” Your father praised patting your head in a proud manner. You grinned in response and hugged him tightly.

As all of them had left you closed the door shut puffing your cheeks. The house was an absolute mess and you had to take care of all of it. While grabbing wrapping papers from the floor and wiping the dining table you couldn’t help but let your mind wander again. Baekhyun was still not back and it was already 11pm. When was he planning on getting back? Your shoulders slouched as your hand movements didn’t stop.

Suddenly the sound of your phone receiving a message was heard and you snapped out of your thoughts. You rushed over to your phone hoping it was Baekhyun and you couldn’t have been more right. “Don’t change and don’t go to sleep just yet. I am heading home soon”

You only rolled your eyes in annoyance and threw the phone back on the sofa. You weren’t going to bed early, no. You were going to stay up, greet him, shove your present to him on his face and tell him how awful you have been feeling and then go to sleep. Today you had enough. It was about time you told him how you felt about him disappearing out of the blue for the past several days.

As you were finished with cleaning and another hour had passed by you heard the front door opening. With a frown you sat on the sofa with your arms and legs crossed. Even though it was Christmas you weren’t going easy on him. You noticed Baekhyun stepping inside wearing his tuxedo as he had styled his hair, and his glasses they were nowhere to be seen.

“Hey babe!” He grinned when he saw you and you only jolted up from your seat grabbing the present with you. Your cold gaze was fixed on him the whole time as his brows slowly knitted. He understood now that you were quite irritated, or angry. “Let me-“
