Selfish LoveHow did it come to this?
The life that she had after marrying him was the exact opposite of what she imagined. It was far from a happy ending. She was elated the moment they were pronounced as man and wife but it went downhill from there.
He was cold. His words to her were like knives. Stabbing, cutting, piercing her heart relentlessly.
“Don’t feel too happy because I’ll never love you. You and I both know that I’m forced to do this so don’t expect me to be a good husband to you.” He whispered to her during the wedding reception.
She faked a smile. Nobody can see how broken she really was, especially him.
It wasn’t his fault. It never was. It was always hers.
He never loved her. She knew that but she was too stubborn, too in love, to see the disaster that lay ahead. She was selfish and now, she had to pay the price with her tears.
If her life was a drama, she would be the antagonist. She would be the selfish woman who wanted the man to be hers so badly that she didn’t care if he never loved her. In the end, she would suffer. She would be left behind, lonely and heartbroken.
There he was now; the man she loved dearly and also the source of her heartaches. As usual, he came back way past midnight. He reeked of alcohol but it didn’t faze her anymore because this was a routine for him.
