Joonmyun walks into his new home with a smile on his lips, a sad one.

“Wow,” he announces to no one in particular. “This is my home now.”

He lays on his sofa, a new one he purchased a week ago. He didn’t want to remember the scent of past lovers and heartache. He was looking forward to starting anew – whatever that may look like he still doesn’t know. He looks up at the ceiling, soft and white – just like Byul, he holds him against his chest.

Byul rests easily on Joonmyun’s chest as if he’s been waiting for this all day. He doesn’t make a peep, just rests on Joonmyun as they both drift off to sleep.

Joonmyun awakes to the sound of Byul barking and snarling.

“Byul,” Joonmyun slowly opens his eyes. He looks in the direction of Byul’s barking and he’s perched against a wall, two paws on the wall and two hind legs on the ground. “Byul shhh,” Joonmyun gets up. He grabs Byul, talking to the furry white dog. “I know you’re just hungry,” he grabs a bag full of snacks out the kitchen cupboard. Stilling carrying Byul and the bag of snacks, he heads to his bedroom.

Joonmyun sets out the snack in a little bowl by his bedside. He rubs Byul behind the ears before laying back down on the bed.

“Happy one week anniversary at our new home,” Joonmyun drifts off to sleep.

Byul gives a little bark but only whimpers when a voice not belonging to Joonmyun’s tells him to shut up.

“This home is not yours,” he stares into the bedroom from the hall. “This is still my home,” he glares at a sleeping Joonmyun.
