Thirteen
Bloodstream [Broken Memories #1]The aftermath of the entire ordeal hadn’t been too bad. As Seulgi had expected, less people would approach her or smile. Some blatantly glared at her in disgust when she would pass by, while others would mumble and avoid her gaze. Even Sooyoung seemed to be avoiding her, but Seulgi was sure it was because of the big fight they’d had before the weekend.
She’d spent her Saturday and Sunday on her couch, drowning in various types of junk food. She’d felt too lazy to do anything else but wallow in her own misery. Jongin had called in regular intervals as well so it wasn’t as if she were left completely to herself. In all, after having been exposed, she felt a bit apprehensive about going back to the frat house. She knew that if she needed to, she would go and have a smoke. Her body would want it if she was under enough stress. She would crave it to the point where there was no question of denying it to herself.
“Seulgi, can we talk?” a voice spoke, as she was swapping books from her locker.
It was Hyuna. Seulgi considered whether or not she should talk to the girl and her sense of kindness won out in the end.
“Sure, what’s up?” Seulgi asked.
“I was in the cafeteria last Friday. Look, I don’t want to know if it’s true or not, but pretend like it’s not. Sehun’s decided to let you stay on the dance team and nobody’s told their parents yet either. We just don’t want our club to have to go through more trouble,” Hyuna explained.
Seulgi nodded. She didn’t want trouble for the dance team either. It was bad enough the boys and girls had to split because of one disgruntled parent. Their team couldn’t perform couple routines because of it, allowing other teams to have an advantage. If word got out that she was some sort of a delinquent, she was sure that parents everywhere would have a problem with it.
“Okay, I don’t want any trouble either,” she told Hyuna.
Hyuna smiled. “I know you’re a good person, Seulgi. And I know we’re not very close but I’m here if ever need anyone to talk to.”
“Thank you, Hyuna. I’m fine,” Seulgi answered her back.
She left Hyuna to walk to class, hoping the teacher wouldn’t collect the homework. From what she’d heard, the second period class had gotten away with the teacher forgetting to collect it. Seulgi hadn’t done any of her assignments and hopefully she would be able to use a second chance at completing it.
Unfortunately while second period had gotten away with it, Seulgi’s class did not. The first thing the teacher asked for was to pass up the homework. She passed up the papers that came up from behind her, without having any of her own to hand in. She knew in the back of her mind it would be a one time thing. She would do her homework next time and it would be done correctly. Even though she barely had her popularity left, she wanted to make sure her academic standing didn’t change. She couldn’t let that fall.
By the time lunch came around, the only thing truly spoiling her mood was Mark. He had come over to formally introduce them to Suzy, which was extremely puzzling considered Seulgi didn’t even consider him as a friend. The highlight of the entire period had to have been Sooyoung dragging Kyungsoo over to the table, much to Mark’s dismay. Jongin and the rest of the girls seemed to have no problem with this.
“I drew a circle in art today, but it came out looking like a square,” Sooyoung announced when the glaring session was over. “I don’t think I draw very well.”
“We’ve been telling you that for years now,” Joohyun commented.
Sooyoung pouted. “At least I’m fabulous in all other aspects.”
“Did anyone ever tell you that you’re a little full of yourself?” Mark asked.
Sooyoung snorted. “Did anyone ever tell you that dyeing your hair red makes you look like an ugly candy cane?”
At this, Jongin let out a laugh at Mark’s expense. The playboy’s face turned red with anger but he held in his frustration and instead held Suzy closer to his side. The girl had laughed as well, prompting Seulgi to believe she had a decent sense of humor.
“I wouldn’t mess with her if I were you, cousin,” Jongin told him.
“Whatever. Are you still coming over tonight?” Mark asked him. “Our moms want to do Thanksgiving together but I don’t know if my dad will show up.”
Jongin nodded. “Yeah it’ll just be me and my mom. Tell your dad to come since mine isn’t coming.”
