Bloodstream [Broken Memories #1]Seulgi didn’t go to school that day.
She couldn’t, especially with Jongin knowing what had happened the previous night. She didn’t want to be pitied or be pestered with questions. She just needed time to herself. Her father had left the house in the middle of the night and he’d never come back. Even though she doubted he’d come back in the middle of the day and find out she hadn’t gone to school, she still didn’t want to stay home either in case she was caught skipping school. Everyone she knew would be at school as well, so there was only one other logical place she could go where she knew she wouldn’t be turned down.
The frat house looked different in the daytime. Seulgi noticed the outside was painted a dull yellow, the shutters were a dark navy blue and property was complete with a white picket fence. Seulgi strode up the walkway and up the steps. She took a deep breath and knocked on the door. A few moments later, the door swung open, revealing a shirtless man with shaggy hair looking as if he’d just woken up. Seulgi looked down at her watch, realizing he probably had only just woke up.
“Who are you?” he asked, voice groggy.
“My name’s Seulgi. What’s yours?” she asked.
“Jinki,” he replied. “No offense, but why are you here?”
“Oh right. I’m here to see Heechul,” Seulgi answered.
Jinki nodded and stepped to the side, allowing Seulgi entrance to the house. Just as she expected, it looked much different in the daytime, not to mention it was cleaned up nicely. There were no drunken adults or vomit around this time. She admired the cleanliness for only a moment before turning back to her new acquaintance, Jinki.
He was in the middle of a yawn, making Seulgi’s mouth twitch as if she wanted to yawn as well but she held it back. After respectfully waiting for Jinki to finish, he began to talk.
“Just warning you, as his frat brother and all, Heechul doesn’t do the whole dating thing. If you get disrespectfully rejected later, don’t be too surprised,” Jinki said, casually.
Seulgi blinked once. Twice. Then she snorted with laughter. “Heechul’s a playboy?”
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Heechul was the biggest dork she knew and was honestly way too weird to even attract women. To hear about this playboy persona was comical, giving her enough entertainment that she was laughing to the point her knees went weak. She could feel tears streaming down her face as she laughed. Jinki only sat, waiting for her to calm down, which she eventually did.
“I’m guessing you’re not one of his conquests then,” Jinki stated. By now, the boy had begun buttering up a bagel for his breakfast. Seulgi shook her head.
“No, Heechul’s like my brother. That would be extremely weird for me to even think about. Plus, even if anything did happen between us, it wouldn’t be legal,” Seulgi explained.
Jinki paused. “How old are you?”
“I’m sixteen. How old are you?” she asked.
“Twenty two.”
“Which is why you shouldn’t be here. Seulgi, why aren’t you in school?” a voice called from the doorway of the kitchen.
Heechul was standing with his arms crossed, fully dressed with a book bag slung over his shoulders. He seemed to be coming back from his classes and he was definitely not happy to see her. Seulgi in a breath.
“My parents got a divorce without telling me and my mom moved out last night and my dad is an abusive piece of and Jongin knows about everything so I didn’t want to go to school and face him. That’s why I’m here. Happy?” she said all in one breath.
Heechul blinked twice and then he shifted, the bag slowly fell off his thin frame. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a few curses.
“Hey y lady!” Kyuhyun’s voice boomed, as he walked into the house, seeing her. “Oppa is here for you.”
“Kyuhyun. Get. Out,” Heechul ordered pushing the overenthusiastic man out. “Go back to your house.”
Kyuhyun held his hands up. “Okay, I’ll go back. Just one thing, though. Seulgi, marry me!”
The door slammed in his face due to Heechul’s impatience and irritation with his words. Seulgi’s lips lifted into a small smile at Kyuhyun’s antics. Heechul saw this and shot her a glare.
“Don’t encourage him. He won’t care if you’re underage,” Heechul warned. “Kyu’s not the best person even if he seems like it.”
“Neither are y
