Luna’s POV

I left them and sat back on my seat

 

After my performance this night I was instructed by my ‘boyfriend’s’ father

 

Which is my ‘customer’ to meet the guy in the picture that he showed me …

 

I was waiting for two nights already

 

And  got lucky tonight …

 

When he was pushed by his friends to dance

 

I grab the opportunity and joined him

 

He was shocked but then didn’t react when we started to sway

 

With the music

 

I got closer to him I don’t know but his presence

 

Make my body drowned to him

 

Maybe because his handsome

 

Yes ill admit his hot …

 

Oh well at least ive done some improvement

 

That I could report to his father …

 

“AHHH!!”

 

Wait I know that scream ..

 

I stood up and make out of the faces

 

Of the people in the dance floor

 

But all I could clearly see was the face

 

Of the same guy I danced with but now

 

Angrier …

 

What happened?

 

He looks scary with that menacing eyes of his ..

 

Its like his ready to kill ..

 

 

I shook my head …

 

He walks out …

 

 I sigh …

 

Then my ‘bf’ approach me …

 

He was about to give me a kiss

 

But I turn my face to the side …

 

“im going home im tired..”

 

I whispered.

 

“huh! Tired of pleasuring your ‘customers’, Luna?”

 

What?! This bas-

 

He strongly cups my face …

 

“L-let … g-go .. your h-hurting—“

 

“I don’t care ! you sl*t!! Remember this you mine, you hear me !!”

 

I slapped him ..

 

His hand letting go of my face …

 

I stood up …

 

“I don’t belong to anybody!”

 

I shouted

 

But he just smirk at me

 

I hate that smirk that face …

 

He looks exactly like his demon father …

 

Thinking about what his father done to me the last time

 

Sends shivers in my spine

 

 

“yeah … you belong to everybody Luna! That’s what your work is .. you dirty B**ch!!”

 

Dirty b**ch

 

Oh come on  ive heard better than those

 

But …

 

Those words I don’t want to hear that

 

It makes me feel like I’m a low human being

 

Not worthy of anything …

 

My tears are slowly pricking in my eyes …

 

 I calm myself and grab my bag ..

 

Going out …

 

Quickly I hail a cab and got in …

 

After telling the driver my apartment address I relaxed in my seat and look out the window ..

 

Oh I forgot to introduce myself

 

Im Luna 20 years old, I don’t have any parents and I left my those people who raised me

 

Because they’ve just use me as a source of money

 

I grow up not going to school

 

Though I still know some things with the help of self study

 

Im quite smart you know .. and im proud of that

 

Right now im living in a small apartment and currently working

 

As a dancer at a bar…

 

Not a decent job I know

 

 

But what can I do?

 

I need it to live …

 

As the car stop at the red light

 

I caught a sight of a family from a restaurant

 

They were happily eating

 

The girl was I think about my age

 

Wearing a uniform

 

Will I look good on those too?

 

I sigh…

 

I really want to go to school

 

But I cant my salary only sustain my every needs

 

A family ….

 

is it nice to call someone mom? Or dad?

 

Someone who will scold me when ive done wrong

 

Or look after me when im sick

 

And took care of me …

 

tells me they love me …

 

I envy them …

 

Very …

 

 

I wipe a tear that escaped my eyes..

 

This is always my dilemma …

 

When I have time to think my insecurities and jealousies

 

Eats me and end up with many what if…

 

 What if my parents didn’t left me?

 

What if I was taken by a decent couple?

 

What if? …

 

And many what if…

 

The ride continues on …

 

when my phone beeps indicating a message

 

i reach for it

 

fr: Mr. Kim

-did you met him? I heard he punch my son … some guts huh! And you woman, why did you slap my son? You deserve a punishment … don’t think of escaping luna remember I own you, I won you on that auction you aren’t paid up and I haven’t used you that is worthy of a million … I have my eyes on you –

 

I hug myself … as I sob

 

That auction was done a year ago

 

Im still 19 and Mr. Kim was the one who bet higher than anyone just to ‘buy’ me

 

I was praying that it wont rise up

 

But I was unlucky

 

He won and I became their ‘property’…

 

I hate this life …

“I want you to met this kid … make him know of your existence, make him fall for him .. then when the time is right … I take care of him and his father … hahahaha !!!”

 

I shook my head …

 

“if you fail or stop midway?”

 

I shouted out of pain .. feeling the cigarette on my skin

 

“ill kill you … slowly”

 

He whisper and slap me hard …

 

That time I tried to escape …

 

Planning of going to some far away province which my friend suggested

 

But I failed he knew about it

 

He dispatched his bodyguards to guard my apartment

 

When I was about to carry out my escape they caught me

 

And taken me some place …

 

I don’t know

 

and There I was …

 

Tortured …

 

I was handcuff … I couldn’t move

 

As mark and bruise was done to me

 

All I could do was scream and cry …

 

 

He even …

 

I shake uncontrollably …

 

At the mere thought of it…

 

The cab stop .. I paid the driver

 

And hurriedly went inside my empty apartment ..

 

Into my room ..

 

Curling up into a ball …

 

Deep in my covers …

 

Crying again …

 

Again ..and again

 

Next Morning

 

*chopin music playing*

 

That’s my alarm …

 

I love classical music .. im makes me relaxed …

 

I reach for the ringing phone and stand up ..

 

Noticing the same clothes ive worn yesterday …

 

I sigh …

 

Quickly I took a bath and change house clothes ..

 

Oversize shirt and shorts ..

 

I went to my kitchen, took two eggs from the refrigerator and open the stove

 

Making scrambled eggs …

 

I placed the cooked eggs in a plate and grab a bread and sat down …

 

Making an egg sandwich ..

 

I look at my watch … 8:00 am ..

 

I still have plenty of time to go to a parttime job

 

My friend suggested to me …

 

When the clock struck 8:30 I quickly dressed up ..

 

Jeans and blouse … heading out the door ..

 

Hail a bus … and stopping in front of a convenience store

 

Two blocks away from the bar im working in

 

Its my first day today …

 

My friend krystal told me about a hiring their store

 

Yup they owned this

 

So I grab the opportunity…

 

I went in …

 

“ammh .. excuse me, im Park Sun Young”

 

“ohh .. your maam Krystal friend?”

 

I nodded.

 

“okay follow me …”

 

We went in an office …

 

“maam?”

 

A blond girl faces me … with a cold glare …

 

Though she’s familiar …

 

“im krystal’s sister …”

 

She stood up … “Jessica .. and you are?”

 

“ahh .. im Park Sun Young miss… call me Luna”

 

I reach my hand out but she did accept it ..

 

So I just put it down ..

 

“Luna? Ahh .. the hostess …right?”

 

She smirk … disgust in her eyes,

 

Her words sting me ..

 

I want to slap her

 

But .. she’s my boss and I badly need this job

 

I cant afford to lose it …

 

I stare back at her with the same intensity in my gaze

 

And lift my lips for a forced smile …

 

“y-yes maam … and im krystal’s friend .. nice to finally met you …thank you for accepting—“

 

She cut me off..

 

“I don’t have a choice my little sister went straight to Appa .. even though I don’t like dirt to come in my place still I have to obey them and take you in …”

 

She stated rolling her eyes heavenwards

 

She have a  sharp tongue …

 

I smile …

 

But deep inside im boiling … with anger !!

 

“min …”

 

She called the girl beside me.

 

“take her outside … give her instructions on what to do …”

 

Min nodded and went to the door.

 

I follow suit,

 

“don’t be sad about what maam Jessica had said … she is always like that but .. the salary is great!”

 

Min said when the door close behind them

 

She giggle ..

 

“I thought she’s like that but she’s good … hahaha ..”

 

“why would I lie ? she’s really strict but she pay us handsomely .. so its okay …”

 

They laugh together.

 

 

“im min by the way …”

 

She extended a had .. “im Luna” … I said accepting her hand for a shake

 

Its nice to have a friend on my first day …

 

The whole afternoon Min taught me about using the register

 

Pack customers items

 

Getting display stocks from the storage and putting it in place…

 

Tiring but fun ..

 

Maam Jessica occasionally comes out of her office to check on us

 

Especially me

 

And those time she always have something to say …

 

Or notice something about how or what I do

 

And scold me …

 

Calling me with name insults

 

Loud enough to be heard by the customers

 

Its embarrassing and hurtful

 

But I just keep my mouth shut …

 

To avoid anymore conflict…

 

“ill be going now … bye Min … see you tomorrow”

 

I called out.

 

“okay bye …”

 

I wave at her and went out

 

Walking to the next two blocks …

 

I still have work to do …

 

I sigh…

 

Oh well … this is my life..
