F.A.N.S
I will.F.A.N.S aka FINAL AUTHOR’S NOTES:
I don’t have much to say about the story or my feelings and thoughts towards it; I hope you have an idea about these after reading the story. Any possible similarities to other stories are coincidental. However, I do own this story, so if you are interested in translations, let me know.
Given the chance, I would like to mention a few things about Alzheimer’s disease –in the off case you haven’t heard of it. It is a degenerative disease which eventually leads to death. As far as I know, there are currently no treatments to stop or reverse the progression of the disease. In most cases, it starts with short term memory loss and, as it progresses, there are symptoms such as confusion, irritability, involuntary emotional expression, long term memory loss, loss of speech abilities and loss of bodily functions, amongst others. (I have tried to include in this story as many symptoms as I thought I was capable of presenting –especially if you consider the point of view in this story. I have personally witnessed many of those situations and the affect they have on the caregivers, but I can by no means comprehend what it feels like if you are the patient; I can only guess.)
Lastly, I would like to recommend the book Baekhyun was reading in this fic: it’s ‘The Emigrant’ by A. Papadiamantis. Unfortunately, I don’t know if and where you can find it translated, but, out of all his stories, I think I like this one the best so far, and that is why I recommend you to read it if you manage to get your hands on it. I thought it really fit with this story, because it is so sad and appropriate to prepare Baekhyun for Chanyeol’s death. The little poem abstract is from the same book and I thought it served to offer a small piece of insight into Baekhyun’s thoughts and feelings.
Thank you so much for reading this! I’m sorry if I made you depressed, but it sort of was the point… Have a happy life! kitty
