Author's note: Hello~ This is the story I wrote for baeconandeggs this year! I've been thinking whether to cross-post it or not and about the best way of doing so, and finally, it's here! Some of you might have already read it -but hopefully you still have a bit of love left for this story, hehe. It's a genre different from my usual, about a very unique alternative universe, but I felt like it was a story worth telling and I hope I did it justice! My excitement has yet to fade, and I still daydream about it with fondness; I really liked this story, in spite of its shortcomings, and I hope you'll like it too. It was supposed to be more lyrical –and even longer, imagine that– but due to certain issues, it came out a bit different than I had envisioned it; I apologize if it seems rushed in some parts, please treat it kindly.

I was very excited to be participating in BAE2017, it’s something I’d been hoping to do for a while now, and it was a great honor for me to participate alongside friends and authors I admire. Writing this story was a challenge for me -primarily because it was written in a short amount of time- but also a great joy, and I hope it won’t disappoint.

To the lovely bae mods, thank you for your kindness and patience; none of this would have been possible without you! You always treat our stories with care and respect, and you are incredibly patient and helpful.

To my prompter, thank you for your prompt! I had tons of fun building the plot, the characters and the universe surrounding them; you prompted a very intriguing and original combination of ideas, and that's why I chose your prompt. I might have taken some liberties with it, but I hope the story lived up to your expectations!
