A/N: Wrote this for Kyuhyuk day (08/13) ^~^

The sun shone down lazily in the clear, blue sky.  A pair of birds flew off from their perch on a tree, sending leaves falling to the ground in twirling patterns. Children could be heard screaming and laughing, running around the park in joy. Parents sat nearby, keeping an eye on their kids and chatting with other parents in contentment. All in all, it was a lovely day to be at the park. That is, for everybody except Eunhyuk. 

Six year old Eunhyuk sat curled up on the ground underneath a section of the play structure, far away from the view of parents. His hands were covering his head and his eyes were squeezed shut in pain as kick after kick flew at him, non-relenting.

When his attackers kicks eventually let up and only the sounds of ragged breathing were heard, Eunhyuk dared to open one eye. The faces of three sneering seven year olds stared back at him. 

"You're such a baby," the leader of the trio sneered. "Look you guys, he's crying." 

"Baby! Baby!" The other two chanted mockingly. 

"L-leave me alone," Eunhyuk said quietly, wanting to wipe away his tears but not daring to move. "Please."

"What was that, baby? You're gonna have to speak up. Us big kids can't hear you," he taunted. 

"He said to leave him alone," said a new voice, one Eunhyuk didn't recognize. Eunhyuk looked up, surprised. Eyes squinted, he tried to make out the stranger, but couldn't. The sun engulfed the figure in a cloak of light, making it impossible for Eunhyuk to make out his features from his position down on the ground.

"Who're you?" The leader asked with a frown.

"None of your business," the new comer retorted.

"Humph. Go away. Why are you even here?" The ring leader demanded, lips curled. 

"I want you to leave him alone."

"Yeah? Make me!" The leader snarled, tiny fist clenched and hurtling towards the stranger. Eunhyuk in a breath, worried for the new kid. He didn't want him to get hurt. 

The stranger ducked, the fist missing him completely and crashing into the metal pole behind him instead. While his tormentor was crying out in pain, the stranger crashed his foot into his with all his might. The bully yelped and, eyes watering in pain, ran away as fast as he could. 
One look from the stranger had both of the two other bullies running away as well. 

Eunhyuk slowly sat up, wincing in pain. Now that the stranger was closer, Eunhyuk was able to see him better. He looked to be his age and had short, brown hair and brown eyes which were currently narrowed as he glared in the direction the bullies ran off to. 

Satisfied that they had actually left, the stranger ran to him and bent down on one knee, worriedly peering at his form.

"Are you okay?" He asked. 

"Y-yeah," Eunhyuk stammered, his eyes wide as he looked at the brown haired boy. "Thank you for helping me," Eunhyuk told him gratefully, wiping the tears from his face.

"You're welcome," The brunette said with grin. "My name's Kyuhyun. What's yours?"

"M-my name is Eunhyuk."

"Nice to meet ya, Eunhyuk." 

They exchanged smiles.  

"How come those people were beating you up?" Kyuhyun asked. "You seem really nice, so why would they hurt you?" 

Eyes downcast, Eunhyuk bit his lip, tears pricking his eyes. "I-I don't really know. They just don't like me... No one does." 

Eunhyuk felt arms wrap around him and he looked up into Kyuhyun face, startled. 

"I like you, Eunhyuk," Kyuhyun said.

"R-really?" Eunhyuk asked, his brown eyes as wide as saucers.

"Really."

Eunhyuk smiled wide, gums showing in a bright smile. A second later he found himself wincing, his new forming bruises not liking his skin stretching so much. Kyuhyun watched him with sad, concerned eyes.

"I don't like it when you're hurt," Kyuhyun declared suddenly. "For now on, I'll make sure you'll never be hurt again."

"You will?"

"Of course. I'll defiantly protect you." Kyuhyun said firmly. 

Finally, Eunhyuk felt that he couldn't hold it in anymore. He began crying, tears streaming down his face, his sobs racking through his body. He felt the arms around him tighten. "I'll protect you forever. I promise," Kyuhyun whispered in his ear.
