Welcome

Lovely Fairytale

‘Don’t worry about a thing Sunny, you’ll be fine,’ she said to herself as she fidgeted in her seat.  She knew she’d be fine, but she couldn’t help but feel her hands sweat in nervousness as she watched the rapidly disappearing figures as she stared out the large window of the train. Grasping the small ruby necklace her mother gifted before her departure, she felt her heart ache. ‘What if no one likes me because I don’t know what I am? What if they call me a fake?’ she thought. Quickly, she shook her head and focused on her watch. In approximately 10 minutes, she’ll arrive at the house. Just 10 minutes. Scrunching her nose as if she smelled a sour scent, she wondered why this house was referred to as a ‘house’. It’s a school with dorms. Why not just call it a school? Or a dorm school?

Before she knew it, the train came to a halt. Secretly, she wished for the cause to be a jam in the tracks, but when she looked outside the window once more and rested her eyes on the large sign, she knew any chance of escape was nonexistent. “Official House for the Magically Gifted,” she whispered as she struggled to read the tiny writing that followed the grand title.

“You getting off?” asked an unfamiliar deep voice as a man with patches of fur looked down at her, a look of disdain on his strange face. It took her a while to regain her stature as she unsuccessfully struggled to identify what kind of creature he was.

“U-um yea,” she answered as she suddenly remembered his question. He looked at her once more then his heel and walked towards the next occupied seat. Quickly, she collected her bags and tied her shoe before running off the train and hopping onto the paved ground.

Looking up, she felt herself gasp. This looks nothing like how she expected it to look! Tall pots of beautiful flowers rested everywhere as the sunshine brightened up the dark mahogany wood of the large building. Students of all magical backgrounds roamed the pavement and met with their friends. Friendly chatter filled the atmosphere and Sunny almost forgot about her nervousness until the sight of who she presumed to be the dean walked up to them.

“Hello new Magical students! I am JungWoo, the dean and principal of this establishment.” He let out a chuckle as he observed the astonished facial expressions of the strange group of kids. “I see you all are enjoying the beautiful scenery of the house, we thank you very much,” he said as he bowed in gratitude.

Furrowing her brow, she wondered what he meant when he said “we”. Before she had a chance to ask, she jumped in surprise at the sight in front of her. When the dean turned around, one snake with 4 heads popped out of his back and stared at the students menacingly. Unable to understand why the other students were unfazed, she shook it off as best she could and struggled to follow the crowd.

However, on the other side of the house, a young man with golden brown hair and pale skin rested his tired eyes and laid on the bed he claimed his own. He hated having to share a room with two other creatures, but he managed to ignore them most of the time. His name was Kris. No one knew his first name or even if that we his real name, he just went by Kris, and no one dared to ask any other questions. He was a strange character. He was cold and had a constant menacing gaze; some people believed that he was unable to smile. Sometimes even he believed he was unable to smile.

“Hello, I’m Lay,” said a sweet voice. Kris opened his eyes, obvious ignorance on his face as he sat up and stared at the strange boy. Refusing to shake his hand he stared at him with his brow furrowed, then scrunched his nose and reached into his bag. “What’s your name?” asked Lay, less enthusiastically.

“Kris,” he replied as he threw him a bar of soap with the words ‘wizard-be-gone’ imprinted on the top.

“W-what’s this?” asked Lay as he sat down on the bed on the other side of the room.

“I hate the smell of wizards,” said Kris as he lay back down and closed his eyes. Of all the creatures that could have become his dorm mate, it was a wizard. Not another wolf or a goblin. A freaking wizard.

Not even 5 minutes later, Kris heard a knock on the door followed by the clicking sound of someone opening the door. Letting out a little groan, he opened his eyes and waited for the creature to walk up to him and introduce himself. “Hi! I’m XiuMin,” said the voice as he placed his bags on the last remaining bed.

“I’m Lay, that’s Kris,” said Lay as he stood up to shake the young boy’s hand. “I think he’s a bit crabby today,” whispered Lay as he pointed towards their tall, silent dorm mate.

Letting out a loud, annoyed sigh, Kris sat up on the bed and told Lay to shut up.

“Wolves, witches, wizards, goblins, and monsters of all kinds! We accept all,” said the dean as he smiled towards the group of kids. “Thank you for choosing the Official House for the Magically Gifted,” ended the dean as he bowed and left the group of kids in the hands of the repulsive woman. She was a slug. Not because she was lazy or slow; she was an actually slug. Green slime trailed behind her as she walked throughout the crowd and handed out everyone’s timetables and dorm room numbers.

“I trust you all have your uniforms with you. If not, we have extras; however, you will have to pay a fee,” informed the lady, her voice scratchy and hoarse. Handing Sunny her timetable, she stopped and stared at the young girl. Sunny’s heart beat quickly as she genuinely feared for her life. “That’s a nice necklace,” said the slug-woman as she smiled crookedly. Bowing softly, Sunny thanked the woman then quickly left the group to search for her dorm room.

“I don’t know if I can handle this place,” she said as she quickly walked out of the stuffy attendance office and into the busy hallways. With two large bags weighing her down, she struggled to find the female dorm rooms, let alone her own dorm room. Taking a deep breath, she walked into the frenzy-like crowd and quickly regretted it as she was knocked down by a hard body. Looking up, she saw a boy with large eyes and a small mouth. She couldn’t help but think he was incredibly cute, but the look of annoyance and ignorance on his face made her quickly realize that he had no intention of helping her up.

“Watch where you’re going,” mumbled the boy as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and continued walking through the crowd as if no one was there.

“Well,” started Sunny as she tried to pick up her stuff before she bumped into anyone else. “He was quite the jerk.”

“Don’t worry about him,” said a soft voice from behind Sunny. Quickly, she turned around and came face to face with a cute boy with cute, round features.

“I’m XiuMin,” replied the friendly man as he reached for one of her bags.

“I’m Sunny,” she replied as she felt herself blush for no detectable reason.

“That name seems to fit you well,” said XiuMin as she smiled down at the tiny little girl. He reached for the green sheet of paper she held loosely in her hand and read her dorm number. “515? Let me walk you to your dorm,” he offered as his smile grew even wider.

Letting out a tiny giggle, Sunny agreed and proceeded to follow the awkwardly cute man.

Chapter 8: What pushes Kris to have greed and pride? Or is Xiumin lying about the eye color's meaning? Or Sunny power has something to do with Kris' feeling of greed and pride? Ack. Can't wait for the update!

Chapter 7: i'm back! finally caught up to the updates. haha. damn midterm exams and work got the better of me...i had read the updates when i had some free time but didn't get around to commenting! now i do though so i'm dropping in for a quick comment :) when was my last comment? about around chapter 4? xD so many updates since then. let's see, let's see...just where do i start?
chapter 5: love and jealousy -- oh especially that -- is in the air isn't it? i can smell is oozing out of Xiumin from my laptop in New Zealand xD
chapter 6 and 7: okay. gotta do these two chapters together 'cause i'm already biased in that i know why Xiumin attacked Kris. though if i hadn't i'd probably say something along the lines of "golden eyes must've had to do with it. kinda ringing bells because it caused Xiumin such confusion. must. have. something. to do with it." BAM! and then i'd be correct xD anyhow, we still have yet to know the roots behind everyone (Taeyeon and Jessica) hating on Kris. Golden eyes...greed and pride, huh? they say that greed is selfishness, but also that loving someone is being selfish (wanting them only for oneself), and therefore, if you're rooting for Kris, it could mean a good thing. Xiumin could be lying, or hiding the truth in his words as well. confusion. confusion. confusion! need. more. chapters!!! hahaha. let's see...pride...! Kris could have an idea of Sunny's powers? and therefore he is proud of it? because...errr...it might help him reach his ultimate goal? IDK! Kris made his move; now it's Xiumin! how is Kris gonna react? xD i'm gonna take an educated guess in saying that this story might end up Xiumin x Sunny because the two main POV seems to be them. haven't gotten into Kris's head quite yet! looking forward to next time!!! keep up the good work!

Chapter 7: Either way, I just love how the story goes. I don't really mind whether Kris or Xiumin ends up with Sunny.
