To many people, my life is perfect. At 22, I’m a successful model working with some of the most famous people of all time. No one would guess that I was hiding behind a mask. I play the role of the snobby rich girl that holds her head so high people looking up can count all her nose hairs. For a while, that girl because so fused with my identity I almost forgot who I was....until one day....that faithful day.

I was sunbathing by the pool, the sun warming my pale skin. For once, the house was quiet. My father walked out on my mum and I when I little, but who cares? That dirtbag was holding us back anyways. My mother used to teach at a reform school. She has a great way with kids. I don’t see her all that much because she lives at the school. I live with my uncle who owns a business, and because he has no children, he has named me the heir. I’ll be taking care of the business later on.

Considering that I’m practically an orphan, my uncle hired plenty of staff paid to take care of me and love me. Nevertheless, there’s hardly a day of peace and quiet.

The doorbell rang, ruining that one moment of serenity. I growled under my breath, cursing the fact that it was the butler’s day off. I dried my skin, taking my own damn time. Hey, if they want me they’ll just have to wait for me. Wrapping the towel around me, I went to go answer the door.

He was standing there with his back facing me. He seemed to be lost in his own world, looking at the garden. I opened my mouth to hurl an insult at him for wasting my time, but it never came out. I didn’t get a chance to look at the dark red silk that clung to his pale skin, nor did I get a chance to ask him what he was selling. All I saw at that moment was those deep brown eyes....they appeared almost pitch black, like looking at a starless night. I remained rooted on the spot, my body seemed frozen and for some strange reason I didn’t want to move. An unfamiliar heat seemed to radiate from him. A heat I wanted so desperately to be near.

“Ah, Ms Park. How good to see you. It’s been a while,” he said, his deep voice causing shivers to travel up my spine.
