Inked Heart

"So how's your arm?" Woohyun can't help but quietly ask his friend as soon as he sees him, leaning against the wall beside the other's locker so that the two of them can talk and catch up on what had happened after school yesterday. The other had basically ignored all his calls and texts and Woohyun couldn't help but want to know how bad things had gone for Sungyeol to do what he did.

And while Woohyun was sure that Sungyeol had most likely been moping because he was too prideful to tell him things had actually went, his conversation with Myungsoo obviously not going as well as he had hoped and that Sungyeol was back at square one when it came to the freshman student. Because if things had actually gone well, then Sungyeol probably wouldn't have ignored his calls and would have talked to him instead of doing whatever he did (most likely lay on his bed and lament about how the other boy didn't want to listen to him, Myungsoo giving Sungyeol his own dose of ry in response for what had happened that day), but Sungyeol hadn't done so, essentially proving Woohyun's thoughts right.

However, instead of getting angry and yelling at the other for ignoring his calls, something that their Sunggyu-hyung would have done, Woohyun had decided to keep things as light as he could and act like he usually did. So giving a few winks and cheesy smiles to a couple of cute girls as they passed, his antics easily causing some of them to giggle and whisper into each other's ears like middle school kids, Woohyun (and Sungyeol) couldn't help but overhear them talk about how hot the two of them were. Something of which both of them were quite used to hearing due to the popularity that both of them had (Woohyun having a bit of a fanclub for his excellence in football, while Sungyeol had his own legion of fangirls that went to his tennis matches to see how he did).

And while Woohyun would rather hear something like that from Haena-ssi instead, it was still nice to hear something like that from time to time, the girls' words being like a little ego boost for him. Especially since Woohyun was a lost cause when it came to the other gril and it literally seemed impossible for Haena to call him such a thing as he was too shy to even talk to her and it was more than likely that she barely knew of his existence or cared for him that much. The latter being worse than the former, but Woohyun wasn't the type to give up, even if it seemed impossible for him. Because whenever he tried to go up to the other girl, he would just chicken out and run away, metaphorical tail between his legs, looking every bit as stupid as that sounded.

It was more than embarrassing to be seen that way, but there wasn't much he could do unless he could finally gain the courage to do something other than stare from afar, drooling at how beautiful she looked each day, and not look like the idiot that he was when he did something like that. And while Woohyun usually had no qualms about flirting with everyone else in sight, even with some of his friends, Woohyun was at a complete loss when it came to the other girl. Because not only was she beautiful to the point of goddess level, she was smart, mature, and was obviously going places with how perfect her records seemed to be. Even Sunggyu liked her and that was saying something because he barely liked any girls in the first place, unless one counted his love for Hyuna, a gorgeous model that seemed to exude uality by doing nothing but breathing.

Seeing Woohyun give another wink, Sungyeol couldn't help but roll his eyes at the other's action while he quietly put his things away, making sure to keep the notebook he had brought for Myungsoo to use in his hands. Turning to the other with a soft sigh, Sungyeol gave, voice low, "Hurts a little bit, but nothing I can't handle... It could be worse I guess, but I put some medicine on it and bandaged it as well as I could before school this morning that it doesn't feel as bad as it had been hurting yesterday, but then again, that just might be the medicine talking and it may act up a little bit later. But why you asking though? It's not like my arm's broken or anything like that, you know?"

Shrugging at the other's teasing question, Woohyun could only reply, tone quite light compared to some of his thoughts, "Just wondering if it had gotten worse is all, don't want your arm falling off or anything. You need both to play tennis and I'm more than sure that your future soulmate would appreciate the fact that you have both your arms instead of one, you know?"

Laughing a bit, even if it was kind of weak sounding to his ears, Sungyeol couldn't help but mention, "I'm pretty sure my Coach would be a lot more worried if one of my arms fell off than my future soulmate, especially since the guy would literally have my head if he found out I couldn't play tennis anymore... My soulmate would be a lot easier to deal with than that man."

Noticing the tension in the other's shoulders and the fake sounding laugh that accompanied his response, Woohyun couldn't help but continue on, thinking back to a few possible scenarios that he had thought of yesterday, his expression turned quite serious as he mentioned, "But for real, I just wanted to make sure you aren't hurt that bad and while I know Sunggyu-hyung says it's nothing to worry about and that it should clear up within a few days of you hanging out with your soulmate, if Myungsoo is your soulmate that is... It still to see, you know? And despite you being kind of an idiot sometimes, I still don't like seeing you hurt? Even if it's because you're being stupider than usual and couldn't realize who your soulmate was when you had met him, as drama-inducing as that sounds."

Mouth opening to say something else, Sungyeol noticing the sudden serious aura that was forming around his best friend, the other doing what he usually did when it came to situations like these, needlessly worrying about him to the point that Sungyeol was sure Woohyun would have made a good writer in another life, Woohyun quickly cut him off as he continued speaking, needing to get his thoughts out, even if he had told himself to keep things light (a rant happening even if he didn't exactly want it to), "And while I know some of the others seem convinced that Myungsoo's your soulmate, I can't help but wonder if the other is your soulmate at all and that it's actually someone else that you talked to or bumped into yesterday and just didn't realize it? I mean, the guy's not even someone you usually go for, at least looks wise that is, especially since your last boyfriend was that Kevin guy from America and the guy before that was Ren, both of which being quite lively and exciting and were easily able to make you laugh--"

Eyes softening a bit at how serious his friend sounded, even if he had called him stupid barely a moment ago and Sungyeol was more or less used to this sort of thing, it was obvious to him that the other had been pretty worried about him and that he shouldn't have ignored his calls, essentially setting himself up for this to begin with. And while he didn't really deserve the other's worry since he had kind of been the one that had been wrong in the first place, Woohyun was still his best friend and had that job of being able to be worried about him as much as he was being right now.

Even if Sungyeol couldn't help but prefer the other Woohyun who usually called him out on his before going on to keep him in check when it came to things like being nice to people outside their little circle or even matters of the heart as the slightly older boy didn't want him to get heartbroken or hurt, that he couldn't help but turn to the other with a small smile of his own, voice tender and filled with laughter as he interrupted the slightly older boy from his spiel, "Woohyun-ah, there's really nothing to worry about, I have everything taken care of, I even brought a notebook for the guy--"

Only to get a 'Do you really now' look from the other before Woohyun was interrupting him again, needing to get the rest of his thoughts out before Sungyeol interrupted him again, "Do you really? Because if you don't, it's fine. I mean if I was in your shoes, I probably wouldn't know what to do either, especially if I had ignored the signs like you had done, not realizing who you were really talking and had to find out hours later after you've actually spoken to your soulmate. I mean, for all we know, you could have bumped into someone else, said something to them, and they're actually the one that's your soulmate instead of that Myungsoo guy. And I'm not trying to badmouth the guy or anything like that, but he's just so different from what you usually go for, even his personality seems a lot more subdued than those of whom you have dated in the past, you know?"

Unable to keep himself from sighing at the other's worry, especially since it had seemed as if Woohyun was a lot more worried about the state of things than he was (which was a given since Woohyun was usually more intune to these types of things than Sungyeol was), even after Sunggyu had reamed the two of them for being insensitive s, Sungyeol couldn't help but ammend on what he had been saying earlier by giving Woohyun a pointed look of his own:

"I'll have things taken care of soon and if I don't, I don't, and if I have to search the whole school for my soulmate, I'll do that too, even if it'll be a pain in my and Sunggyu will get on me about everything again. And it's not like this school really has a big number of students, so if Myungsoo-ssi isn't it, then it's not really a big deal since it should only take a few days to actually find my soulmate... And yeah, my arm will most likely hurt something fierce during those days, but it's my fault for being such an idiot in the first place. So you can stop with the nagging and all this worrying, because you sound almost as bad as Sunggyu-hyung does and I got more than enough of that yesterday."

Gasping as if he had been personally affronted by such a comparison, his hands clenching his shirt near his heart, Woohyun couldn't help but protest, falling for Sunygeol's bait at getting him to drop the subject, "I'm nowhere near as bad as Sunggyu is, especially when I'm just looking out for my best friend's well-being! And it's not like I wanted to be worried either, but you wouldn't answer my calls and you didn't even call me back yesterday either."

Grinning his gummy smile, eyes apologetic, Sungyeol could only give as he reached out to pinch Woohyun in the cheek, 'Yeah, I know, but you're being way too worried about this. More worried than usual and it's kind of odd to see, even if it's kind of cute... Maybe even Haena would think such things."

Grimacing at Sungyeol's touch, Woohyun couldn't help but whack the other's arm away, slightly annoyed but feeling a bit better from his impromptu ranting, "Only girls like Haena can call me cute, it's gross coming from someone like you, like grosser than old people gross."

Scrunching up his nose at the sight of Woohyun's disgusting simile, unable to stop himself from actually picturing something like that, imagination being a little too detailed about it, Sungyeol couldn't help but make a gagging sound, "Dude, don't ever say something like that again, it's sick!"

Feeling booming laughter fill his chest, Woohyun could't help but grab the side of the wall as he laughed, stomach almost hurting from the intensity of his laugh, that he barely managed to get out, "That's for worrying me! Serves you right to be honest."

Only able to roll his eyes and mumble something along the lines of 'You started it' as he waited for his friend to calm down, it was a minute or so later when he had went to change the subject back to Myungsoo, telling the other his plan, knowing that Woohyun would want to know, "So yeah, you don't really need to worry about me, alright? Especially since I'm just going to see if I can find Myungsoo, talk to him, and hopefully see if I can get him to show me his tattoo. If it looks like mine, then I have some making up to do, but if it doesn't, then we'll just have to go back to the drawing board and start searching around."

Nodding a bit while rubbing his stomach, body still in a little bit of pain, but nothing too serious as it would go away in a few moments, Woohyun softly asked, "Got it, but how are you going to get him to show you his arm? He wasn't willing to do it yesterday, so what makes it different today?"

Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath, knowing that he didn't really have a plan except seeing if he could get Myungsoo to listen to him, use his notebook, and hopefully coax him into letting him see his arm, Sungyeol couldn't help but finally close the door to his locker, eventualy coming to a conclusion that was sure to do nothing but make Woohyun laugh but be worried about him again, he ended up muttering, "Nothing."

Except maybe him.
