"i'm really happy i found you." namjoon whispers directly at his partner's ear. seokjin hums in approval. he kisses namjoon at the cheek, a way of his to say that he feels the same.

namjoon wounds his arms on seokjin's waist tightly, bringing his fingers much closer to his elbows. it hurts but seokjin doesn't budge. he doesn't pull away because namjoon rarely shows affection.

he does not have any idea why now, but he doesn't complain. instead he picks on the strands of blonde hair at namjoon's nape and sings a soft lullaby against his shoulder.

namjoon shuts his eyes. he opens his mouth to say something but closes them again when a small whimper is the only sound that comes out.

he wills the tears away. he doesn't know how to say the news to seokjin. he found out this morning when he received a call from his doctor saying that it's important. he doesn't know how to say it to seokjin when he greeted him with a smile and freshly cooked lunch when he came back from the hospital.

because how do you say to the person you love the most that you're going to die when he keeps saying how much he's thankful to have fallen in love with you. how much he's excited to get the dog you promised him months back. how do you say it when the first thing he tells you when you came back is how sad he was when he woke up without you by his side.

namjoon doesn't know how to tell seokjin that he's sorry because he's gonna have to wake up alone the next days.

so instead he hugs seokjin from the back and removes the dishes from his hands and turns him around.

he sways their body to the soft lullaby seokjin is singing an
