Twenty Five
Eunji gasped when she glanced at the clock. School had already started 10 minutes ago.
"MUM!" Eunji shrieked. Her mum jolted in surprise.
"Why didn't you wake me up!?" Eunji shouted. "I-I'm sorry, I thought it would be fine for you to take the day off today," her mother stared down at her hands guiltily. "No mum! I can't miss school or I'll fall behind! And I'll have to get up anyway to do my shifts!" Eunji said as she began hurriedly packing her bag. She threw in everything she could find before throwing the bag over her shoulder. Her head was still aching horribly but she gritted her teeth and forced herself to ignore it. "Eunji, you're still in your pajamas. Your work clothes are in the bathroom." Her mother leaned her body against the wall calmly, watching her flustered daughter. "Huh?" Eunji looked down at her body and realized her mum was right. She was still wearing her old, pink pajamas. She threw the bag back down on the floor, rummaging through to the very bottom to where her uniform lay. She began to change hurriedly. "Eunji..." her mother said quietly. "Can't you just take a day off today and spend some time with me?" Eunji's hands paused at her tie. "What?" "You know..we just don't really have any mother-daughter time together." "Mum! I thought you were just as desperate as me to pay all our bills and all the money we owe! What are you talking about--" Eunji said in shock. "I know. I am. I just..." her mother sighed. "Nevermind. Forget I ever said that." Eunji bit her lip and turned her head back to the mirror in front of her, her hands beginning to move once again as she adjusted her school tie. "Right..." she mumbled. She grabbed her wrinkled blazer and threw it over her shoulders, shrugging off the fact that it looked like a crumpled cloth. She felt another pang of pain in her head and shut her eyes tightly. Now that she was actually prepared to go to school, her tiredness took over her body and she slumped. "Eunji, aren't you going to brush your teeth?" her mother asked. Eunji face palmed herself and angrily stamped to their moldy bathroom. She didn't even bother trying to turn on the light, because she knew it would flicker off in less than ten seconds. She felt like crap and for some reason, she was in an incredibly bad mood. Her mother sighed as she continued watching Eunji angrily scrub her teeth before slowly walking into her room. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The classroom door flung open and Eunji stood panting at the doorway, her hair a mess and her legs feeling like jelly. "Eunji! Why are you so late to class!? DENTENTION!" the teacher shouted angrily before pointing her stick at her empty seat. Eunji had no energy to argue back at quietly moved to her seat. She gave a small glance at Luhan and surprisingly, he was staring back. He didn't seem happy. In fact, he looked like her was about to punch someone. She dropped down onto her seat and flung her body over the top. Her body was aching more than it was before. "Excuse me young lady. Sit up straight and look forward," the teacher yelled angrily. "Go ask someone to tell you what the class is doing because it's time for me to leave." And with that, the teacher stormed off with her red heels clicking with every step. Eunji sighed and buried her face in her hands. Who was there to ask? Who would offer her THEIR time to explain to her about whatever the hell they're doing
