Twenty Two
Luhan gazed at her unwaveringly, almost as if he was in a daze. Eunji stared back at him, but her mind wasn't in the right place. She felt her body heating and her heart was beating at a faster pace, so fast it felt like it was going to leap out at any moment. But this wasn't only because she was looking at the boy she had still loved, but because the nerves and fear came bounding towards her at the same time. Her mind was jumbled and all she could do was stand frozen in place. Only a few moments later did Luhan blink a few times before casually resting his head back on his arms. He seemed so indifferent, it hurt. After realizing the boy wasn't planning to give her anymore of his attention, Eunji slowly and carefully walked through the classroom towards her seat. She paused beside her seat, watching the boy who was completely motionless. His hair reflected the sun that streamed through the window beside their seats, and it gave a hint of chocolate brown. She sighed and took a seat, ignoring the few strange stares directed towards her. Her classmates wondered why Eunji would so openly stare at the EXO member, but decided to stay silent. Who didn't have a crush on those gorgeous boys anyway? They sensed the gloomy atmosphere but didn't bother to think of the reason. Perhaps it was because how deflated Luhan looked, or purely because it was early in the morning and the class was almost empty. It was dead silent inside the classroom except for a few whispers every now and then, and that made it worse for Eunji. Hearing the gentle breathing of the boy behind her didn't help her calm down. In fact it drove her to insanity, reminding her of Luhan's presence. So close, yet so far. Her unspoken words lingered at the back of her tongue and the urge to explain everything to Luhan was slowly rising. But the fear suppressed it. The clock ticked by and soon enough, more students began to stream through the door. Some girls were prepared to pounce on Luhan as always, but after seeing his slumped body, they decided they would let him go today. Yuri and Yoona entered the room simultaneously and the moment they saw Eunji and Luhan's distant selves, they knew their plan had succeeded. Seeing as how Luhan flung the small girl to the ground the other day, they knew Luhan would be too enraged to listen or believe Eunji's words. Yoona nudged Yuri with her elbow and gave an encouraging smile. Yuri nodded and cast her gaze to the brown-haired boy, clutching the letter in her hand even tighter. She pranced confidently to his table, the heads of their classmates following her direction. Eunji noticed her presence too, but refused to give a reaction. Luhan no longer belonged to her did he? With a sly grin, she gently placed the envelope on his desk, beside his head and tapped him on the shoulder. The boy looked up at the girl before looking at the note beside him. "Be sure to read it." She smiled. "Your hair looks amazing by the way. Why did you change it?" Luhan scowled at the girl. "None of your business," he hissed. The classroom hushed into silence, eyes focused on the two. Yuri sputtered in surprise before quickly regaining her composure. "Ah, sorry. I guess I shouldn't have asked. Just make sure you read it soon, okay?" Yuri offered her best smile in order to cover up her shock and embarrassment. Without any further words, Luhan turned his head away and set his attention on a bird outside the window. Yuri stood awkwardly, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her shirt. She had expected at least an acknowledgment from the usually polite boy, but she figured their break up must've had a bigger effect on him than she thought. The more broken, the better, she thought to herself, hoping to encourage herself. She ducked her head slightly before spinning away and practically skipping to Yoona who sat in silence. "He sure has changed," Yoona whispered. Yuri nodded in agreement. "It's okay, he's just heartbroken over that piece of trash in front of him." Yoona smirked. "Yeah, he'll get over her," she sighed in content, "and you'll take her place." Yuri's lips curled into an excited grin. Eunji sat still in her seat, still trying
