Kris and I have been dating for a year now but everything changed a few months after we married. I was always left behind after school. It’s either he would go play with his friends or we would have military trainings.

I don’t understand why he changed. Did I do something wrong? Am I lacking? Did I not put enough effort in this relationship?

Yes, we are married but we don’t live under the same roof.

We were only together when we’re at school.

As the days passed, we became distant. He had these dull, glazed eyes whenever we’re together. He was not focusing. Something was occupying his mind. It was as if he was bored with me. Whenever we would talk it will end up with us fighting. He would keep things to himself. He would sometimes not include me in his plans. I was slowly being pulled away in his life.

It scared the hell out of me.

He ignored me most of the time. We would no longer spend much time together. It slowly broke my heart. Whenever we would sit side-by-side, we wouldn’t talk. We would just stare at the horizon watching the sun set. The silence used to be comfortable but now… it was awkward.

He became serious and just stares blankly at me during military trainings. He wouldn’t ask me if I was alright or say that I did a job well done after the trainings. He would always make excuses so that he could go home early.

He was slowly leaving me behind and I just stood there, watching him.

“Kris?” I whispered

“hmm?”

“is everything alright?”

“of course it is.”

“no, I mean, is everything alright between us?”

“yes. We’re good” his voice was monotone.

“okay.” I slowly stare at my hands, sighing

“we’re alright. Okay?” he kisses my forehead and leaves
