Chapter Six:
“Wo-ow” Hyori worked her jaw trying to say the right word. Her mind felt like it had just been blown, and she was not the only one. “Wow, wow, wow,” she said three more times before grinning, “Let’s go over the princess lines,”
Everyone gapped at her, except for Ji Yong who narrowed his eyes and glared at her.
“You want me to be a princess?” he asked, feeling insulted.
“No, just play one,” Hyori said, flipping her script. While this was happening, Seung Hyun found himself walking down the red carpeted isle. His hands were clenched, and his eyes were set on the actor on stage, whose hair was more beautiful than what he had ever seen. For a moment he felt himself have a little out of body experience, before slowly approaching, and lowering himself into one of the seats, watching the blond haired beauty play his lines in a very interesting way.
He should be the prince, something inside of him told him. He is definitely a prince. The thought suddenly struck Seung Hyun as odd. Something in his mind seemed to stir, and cause a sort of ache at his temples. Closing his eyes, it was like he could hear a voice echoing from deep within his brain, and it sounded as if it had been recorded there…“It just isn’t fair that we can’t….It just isn’t fair…all the time.”
Seung Hyun closed his eyes, gritting his teeth. He couldn’t hear it all. Just parts of what was being said, in a voice that had his heart jerking. Standing up, he clearly forgot what it was that he just heard in his head, and moved closer to Hyori whom was already done interviewing the blond actor on stage.
“Hey,” he said when he was behind Hyori.
Hyori jolted, but then turned around; a large grin was on her face. “Seung Hyun!” she brightly greeted, getting to her feet to throw her arms around him into awkward hug. “I’m so glad that you could make it!”
“Yes,” Seung Hyun murmured.
“Seungri,” she turned to her brother. Seungri looked up, and his eyes widened a bit at the sight of Seung Hyun, causing him to stand and bow. “This is Seung Hyun, the one I was telling you about.” She turned back to Seung Hyun, “Seung Hyun, this is my younger brother.”
“Nice to meet you,” Seung Hyun bowed in return.
While Hyori started to explain Seung Hyun his part, Ji Yong pulled his beanie back on, and looked off stage once, before moving away. He slowly made his way off stage, and headed for that was neatly hidden on the side.
“Where are we going?” Gaho asked as soon as they were outside, and alone.
“I’m hungry,” Ji Yong murmured, his eyes cast to the floor.
“What’s wrong?” Gaho asked. Ji Yong blinked, and turned to look over his shoulder to the pup that was perched there.
“It’s just that…playing the part of the princess isn’t something that I want,”
“Why didn’t you argue it then?” Gaho asked. He knew that Ji Yong was rude, and brash. He didn’t care what anyone thought about him at all. This wasn’t like him to just stay silent.
“I…It’s…just…” Ji Yong pursed his lips, “Something is making me uneasy,” he finally said. “I don’t know why, but something about this makes me uneasy,”
“But,”
Ji Yong narrowed his eyes at Gaho, “But we need the cash,” he growled and started to walk away. Gaho sighed. Ji Yong didn’t even stay to see if he had gotten the part at all. It seemed finding a way to fill his belly was more concerning to him.
Back in the theatre, Seung Hyun walked on stage wondering where the other actor had gone, but decided to focus on what he needed to do. That night he read the part of the prince, and he was immediately cast for it. Hyori still hadn’t made up her mind about the others, but the image of the blond wouldn’t leave her mind, and was already deciding to make him the princess.
At least that is what she was telling Seungri whom shook his head and looked at her with disapproval. “He’s a guy; you can’t just force him to play the role of a female,”
“You forget, that the best of actors, can act out any part! Regardless of genders,”
“We could give him the part of the squire,” Seungri suggested. Hyori frowned, and flipped through her script.
“Not good enough, especially for his looks. His role acting was also very passionate,” she mumbled to herself as she looked at each role, when she remembered one of the most important roles in her whole play. She froze, looking at the page in awe, as if she had never seen it before. The look in her face made Seungri pause and look at his sister with concern.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, placing his hand on her shaking shoulder.
Hyori startled him by throwing her head back and giving off a scary laugh. “Oh my God,” she snorted, and continued to laugh.
Seungri took a few steps away from her, “Your scaring me,” he muttered, especially the fact that they were in an empty parking lot, in the middle of the night, with crickets chirping and a full moon. He didn’t need his sister acting cynical to the scene.
“I can’t believe I forgot this role though!” She said, slapping the paper in front of her. “The prince has a true love that is not the princess. The reason he can’t be with her and pretends to be so cold…” She gave a soft smile, “It just isn’t fair that we can’t freely share kisses or hang out all the time.” she read from the script.
Seungri frowned, and looked took the script from his sisters hand. He didn’t remember such a line, or such a character ever existing in the play at all. It was supposed to be a tragedy of unrequited love, and nothing else. But clear as day, the role was there. No real name, just the title, servant girl, and nothing more. But the lines were clear, and it was a very delicate scene with the prince. “I…when did this…since when has this been part of the script?” he asked.
Hyori thought back, “I think it’s always been there little brother, I just forgot about it”
“I swear! I read the whole script, I didn’t see this!” Seungri pointed accusingly to the paper.
Hyori gave him a look, “Your memory must be shot. Come on, stop being annoying, and let’s get out of here. It’s so cold,” she sneezed, rubbing her bare shoulders, and continued to her car. Seungri was shaking though, looking at the script, before he followed her, while flipping through the pages. Even the number of pages seemed to have increased on him. This script had to have a mind of it’s own!
Maybe his sister was playing him? She must have recently added the new part and forgot to tell him, how convenient of her. Now she was trying to just scare him! Well, he wasn’t going to fall for it. “It’s still the part of a girl,” he muttered as he climbed on the passenger seat. “I don’t think Ji Yong…”
“And again, who cares, Ji Yong will do fine,” she snapped, cutting him off.
“If he ever shows up again, I don’t think he was happy with acting the princess part, he just disappeared since then!” Seungri said.
“Maybe he had something to do,” Hyori her car, trying to stay positive.
“Why don’t we give Seung Hyun this part instead, then,” Seungri offered, trying to get under his sisters skin.
“Is that a challenge?” she turned to him, “Are you trying to say that the actor I chose isn’t good enough!”
“All I’m saying is I bet he’ll also quit in the face of trying to be set up in a girl role!”
“I assure you, he will not!”
“Then do it!”
“I’ll ask him,”
Seungri smirked, “You’re so easy,” he muttered under his breath.
“What was that, little brother?”
“I said I’m feeling a little queasy, we should go eat something, right?” Seungri quickly said, smiling really big. Hyori gave him a look, before nodding her head.
“Fine, but your treat,”
“What but I!” Seungri looked scandalized, “I’m just a University student!”
“Some student,” she muttered, but drove off to one of their favorite restaurants for lunch. When they got there, they were surprised to find Ji Yong arguing with the manager. The manager looked like he was about to break down and even piss his pants at whatever it was that Ji Yong had said to him. But it didn’t seem as if Ji Yong was done with him. Walking over without much thought, Hyori tapped Ji Yong’s shoulder. Seungri gapped, but followed after her.
“What,” Ji Yong snapped, turning to her.
“Hello,” She cheerfully greeted. Ji Yong dropped his anger and gave her a disdained look. “What is going on here Ji?” she asked.
“None-”
“I’m sorry, is he a guest of yours Ms. Lee?” The manager asked, cutting off anything that Ji Yong had to say.
“He’s actually one of my actors now,” She said, placing her arm around Ji Yong’s shoulders. The moment she did, she felt Ji Yong stiffen, making her pull away. “Is there something wrong?”
“He was just--”
“I’m out of here,” Ji Yong coolly called, moving to leave as quickly as possible. This was already too much of a hassle. Hyori frowned and turned back to the manager. He quickly filled her in that Ji Yong had been asking for free food, and when he had been denied, had started to threaten them. He also commented about him being poor and a few of their costumers having recently seen him always in the streets.
Hyori thanked him for the information and left Seungri to order them some take out, as she rushed out the door in hopes to find Ji Yong. If he was homeless and needed help, then the least she could do was offer it to him. She was lucky enough to find him walking down just a few blocks away, muttering to himself about one thing or the other, she didn’t necessarily care.
“Ji Yong!” she called and he continued to walk. Frowning, she sped up until she blocked his way, “Hello!” she called.
Ji Yong frowned, “Move it,” he snapped.
“I just want to offer you a place to stay, and food, free of charge!” she smiled at him happily. Ji Yong narrowed his eyes.
“You don’t even know me, why?” he snarled.
“No reason,” Hyori frowned, “I just believe in helping those who need it. Nothing bad about it, besides, I live in an apartment with my brother, and the landlord is his best friend, I’m sure he’d let you take the small unused apartment that is there,”
“I don’t trust you,” Ji Yong snapped.
“Well, that’s just sad” She grinned, snatching his wrist, “Come on,”
“I said no!” Ji Yong angrily growled, but she wasn’t listening. He tried priding his hand from hers, but she seemed reluctant to let go.
“Just go with it,” he heard Gaho whisper. “You might not trust her, but this is a great offer! We do need a place to sleep,”
“But,” Ji Yong breathed.
“Ji Yong, don’t hurt her. She’s just human, so please, accept,”
Ji Yong hated it.
Seungri wouldn’t stop talking once he was in the car with them, heading to their place. When they got there, they were greeted by a smiling man, with warm brown hair, and very soft personality. “Hello, your back,” he said.
“Yeah, we brought someone though, this is Ji Yong, and he’s homeless, he needs a place to stay,”
“Oh,” The man looked surprised, before he beamed, “I can offer him a small apartment, free of charge until he’s on his feet again,”
“That’d be great! Hear that Ji Yong, you should really thank Daesung-hyung!” Seungri proudly beamed to this Daesung.
Ji Yong wasn’t the type to go around thanking random humans, but this one was giving him a place to actually stay. “I appreciate it,” he grumpily muttered, basing the dog hidden in his hood to softly sigh. Guess that was all he could expect from Ji Yong. Even throughout the years, it seemed that socializing with humans was just something that Ji Yong was never going to get used to.
“No problem at all, come this way,” Daesung happily led the way. Hyori thanked him repeatedly, before she sent Seungri to get an extra sleeping bag for Ji Yong, seeing as the apartment was basically empty.
“Here, for you,” She softly said. Ji Yong blinked, and looked at the bag as if it was going to bite him. “It’s just food,” she whispered, and placed the bag on the floor near him. Ji Yong took a few steps back, still glaring at it. “Goodnight,” she called, heading out the door.
“What am I? Some sort of lost cat to them!” He growled, kicking the bag with food across the room. “I don’t need their ing pity!”
“And here you are,” Gaho said, jumping down, and happily running across the room to rip into the bag of food.
“If I had my powers, and my full strength, they’d think twice before even approaching me” Ji Yong snapped, heading towards the window, and pulled it open.
Gaho didn’t care; Ji Yong could sulk for all he wanted. He was just glad to have a roof over his head, and food to munch on. “You should eat as well,” Gaho silently called, but Ji Yong wasn’t listening. Gaho could tell that Ji Yong was getting annoyed and restless.
It must , not having any memories to remember, or even a clue, as to what he was searching for. His frustration was showing.
He didn’t envy Ji Yong.
The sudden knock at the door, had Ji Yong walking towards it, opening it. Seungri was on the other side, with a sleeping bag. “Here, sleep well. And we will talk about your acting role tomorrow,” he said turning to leave before he remembered something, “Oh! And my sister insists that you join us for breakfast in the morning, we all gather in the kitchen downstairs, bye,”
Ji Yong looked down at the sleeping bag in his hands, and sighed, closing the door behind him. Humans were undoubtedly, stupid.
