Wondering

Guns and Roses

Darkness enveloped the blue sky as the street lights were automatically illuminating the city. The night was beautiful in Seoul as the bustling city seemed more alive. Youthfulness merged with the ambience, giving a breath of fresh air to those who had been busy working in the morning. It was a joyous hour for most of the people in town since freedom was in their grasp. However, Hyunseung was feeling the opposite. He was trudging to his own apartment, his footsteps leaving behind a trail of hesitance.

Unlike his usual nights, Hyunseung came home alone without having any es by his side. The fight which had erupted between him and Hyuna this morning had caused him to be in a foul mood the whole day. He wondered why they were still together when they could not even stand to see each other. A loud sigh escaped from his mouth as he pushed the door of the house, throwing himself into the place.

As expected the house was dark and Hyuna was not home. She must be out partying somewhere, thought Hyunseung as he plopped onto the bed. It did not matter to him if Hyuna was not around. She had her life and he had his.

This was how the relationship had been working for several years.

                Nothing bad had happened.

Therefore, Hyunseung just shrugged the matter of his mind.

He closed his eyes and tucked his hand beneath the pillow he was resting on.

Just like that, Hyunseung fell into a deep slumber without knowing what had actually happened to his girlfriend.

Morning came sooner than expected. Hyunseung was wakened up from his sleep with a jerk when the sound of a car honking outside could be heard. Groggily, he sat upright, rubbing his eyes to shake off the sleepiness. The bright sunlight had made him grunt in annoyance as its ray was piercing through his eyeballs mercilessly. He hated waking up in the morning as much as he hated life.

His throat felt dry and so, he got off the bed and made his way towards the kitchen lazily but came to an abrupt stop when he saw Hyuna’s bracelet on the dining table. Why was it there? he thought but decided to let the matter slide and came to a conclusion that he was being too paranoid.

After gulping down a whole glass of water, he started to head back to the bedroom to get more sleep but his eyes landed on the black bracelet on the dining table again. It was the bracelet that he had given to Hyuna 4 years ago and she had never taken it off ever since. Her routine was the same. She would come home and leave the bracelet on the dining table so that she would not forget to put it back on when she was going to head out to party.

Hyuna would never leave this bracelet.

She would never forget about it even if she were to only go out to buy groceries.

                Never.

A sick feeling grew at the pit of his stomach as his gut was screaming at him, telling that the situation was too suspicious. Something had gone wrong when he was out of the house. Something bad. Hyunseung dashed towards his closet and slapped on some decent clothes. While doing so, his brain reeled, trying to come out with a few of Hyuna’s close friends’ names. But none occurred in his mind.

                She had no friends.

                She only had him.

Hyunseung paced around the room anxiously, biting his nails, tousling his hair and punching the wall sporadically as the sick feeling refused to go away. “Where could she be at?” he thought out loud and then growled. At that time, his cell phone vibrated. The sound resonated through the room and the sick feeling heightened. The way the cell phone rang was different even though the caller ringtone was the same.

Sweat trailed down on his sideburns as he his wet lips. His gaze was fully focused on the vibrating phone and was slowly making his way towards it. For some odd reason, his hand shook when he held the object in his, sliding his index finger on the screen to answer the call. “Hello?” his voice turned out to be raspy.

He held in his breath. His eyes turned red. The caller on the other line laughed after passing him a message. “What did you do to her?” his voice trembled, “If you touch my girlfriend, I will ing kill you!” Hyunseung barked. He threw the cell phone as it smashed against the wall.

                Again, he went berserk.

However this time Hyunseung had unleashed the monster inside him because Hyuna had been kidnapped and he knew who was responsible of it.

Hyunseung cried and screamed thinking about how he had let those people taken Hyuna away under his watch. How he had idiotically went mad because Hyuna did not want to have with him. How he had stupidly dashed out of the place and left her all alone. How he had foolishly let the situation run wild until Hyuna had became the victim.

He punched the mirror and let his wounded knuckles bled as he swore he would make the person who kidnapped Hyuna bleed a thousand times more than he did today.

A moving black car was gliding through the expressway without giving out any suspicious vibe, camouflaging with the other cars on the road. The driver was in all-black attire with black shades covering his soft brown eyes. He drove the car steadily and kept a composed look on his face. Sporadically, his grip would tighten around the steering wheel when he switches lanes and his jaw would start to clench and unclenched when he was met with slow moving cars. Nevertheless, he had not attracted any attentions and seemed unsuspicious in other people’s perspectives.

In that very same car, Hyuna was kept in the boot of the car. Her hands and legs were tied as was taped. At that time, her eyes started fluttering and her body was regaining consciousness again. Her surrounding seemed blurry and she could not make out what was in front of her for a long time due to the darkness. The pupil of her eyes dilated and contracted to get use to the surrounding which was lacking of light.

Where the hell am I? She looked around and felt as if her head had been knocked on a huge rock. Slowly, she was able to see the outline of the surrounding and memories dashed into her mind about what had happened to her last night. Terror ran across her face when she knew what kind of situation she had been hurled into. “He-help,” her screaming turned out to be whispers.

Before she could say or do anything, the car stopped moving. Her anxiety grew more at the sudden stop as she looked around, hoping to find a loop to escape from the place but to her dismay there was nothing. Her breathe was caught at the back of the throat when she could hear rustling sound and the boot was opened. The sudden outburst of light had caused her to hide behind her hair but a force had pulled her from the neck forcing her to look up.

“If you wish to stay alive, you will follow my instructions,” said a voice.

Hyuna blinked, adjusting herself in the light and saw that she was face-to-face with a man. He was in a black shirt and a black jacket. His brown eyes were cold and his face shone ruthless and fierce. Hyuna was overwhelmed with fear as she could not reply an answer using words and was only able to nod.

“I will let you sit in front,” the man started to say, “But if you try to do anything fishy, I will not hesitate to kill you. Do you understand me?”

“Yes,” Hyuna found her voice and meekly said it loud enough for the kidnapper to hear.

“Good,” the man muttered. His voice was deep. So deep that Hyuna wondered what kind of rough life he had went through to actually have that profundity ringing through his tone, vibrating in her ears, leaving an immense impression on her. She watched him in fear as he cut the restraints on her hands and legs.

Bang Yongguk grabbed the female he had kidnapped by the arm and forced her out of the boot. He tossed her to the front seat and then went back to the driver’s seat. “Who- who- are you?” Hyuna stuttered but Yongguk did not provide an answer. Instead, the man took Hyuna’s right hand and cuffed them to his left hand which was holding on to the gear. Yongguk slammed his left foot on the gas pedal as they were driving on an unfamiliar road. They were no longer at the expressway and were moving on a single road in the middle of nowhere.

Hyuna did not know the place as she desperately look around. Where are we? Tears were rolling down quietly on her cheeks but she looked away in fear that she would anger the kidnapper. She tried to gather herself together and try to recognize the surrounding but failed again. There were fields of plantations surrounding them and she was sure they were at some isolated neighbourhood.

Hyunseung where you? Hyuna stared at her bare wrist which was now cuffed to the kidnapper’s hand instead of having a black bracelet dangling around it.

Diamonds Club was coruscating in the middle of the night. People poured into the place as it was a renowned club among the youngsters. Hyunseung sat in his vintage mustang, eyeing the club with clenched jaw. He was not looking for a place to party at but was looking for the owner of the club, the person who had given the orders to kidnap Hyuna.

Hyunseung threw back his head and closed his eyes while his hands took the can of beer to his mouth, gulping it down thirstily. After a final confirmation, he got out of the car and patted his back to ensure that the gun he had slipped behind his shirt was still there. Let’s do this, a final encouraging thought came to mind before he started to trash the place down.

Chairs flew around the place, tables were toppled over, drinks were spilt on the floor purposely, and the monster inside of Hyunseung had come back, taking over his body. His eyes brimmed with anger and he was shouting, “Yah! Kim Seungsoo! Come out and face me you motherer!” More chairs were thrown as he shoved the guards away from him.

“Kim Seungsoo!” he howled the name of the owner of the club who was also the leader of a gang called, ‘Red Dragon.’

Before he could kick another table or push another one of the customers, 4 bouncers armoured with their thick muscled arms came rushing towards Hyunseung, grabbing him by the throat and hand. The 4 men forced Hyunseung to stay quiet and dragged him towards a small room down the hall. From there, they climbed a flight of stairs till they reached a quieter and darker section of the club.

He looked around the place and saw that it was actually the VIP’s lounge. “Well, well, who do we have here?” a voice emerged from the darkness as Seungsoo ambled down the room, heading towards Hyunseung. “Are you here to sell me some goods? I mean, you’ve already come into my territory to sell your stuff, might as well just confront me and sell it directly in my face right?” a sense of bitterness was traceable in his voice.

“Is that what it is all about?” Hyunseung hissed, “I went into your damned territory and you just ing take my girlfriend away?” he barked, resembling a mental patient.

One of Seungsoo’s men took Hyunseung by the collar and smashed him to the wall numerous times. Hyunseung gasped for air as he lost count of how many times he had made contact with the hard cement. In the midst of that, a punch landed on his cheeks and had sent him flying backwards, his back hitting the wall again but this time was unintentional.

Blood trickled at the side of his mouth and dropped on the floor.

“Enough,” Seungsoo signalled his man and then made his way towards the fragile looking Hyunseung who was pooled on the floor, desperately inhaling for air. “Now,” he smirked, “Do you know your place?” Seungsoo let out a sickly laugh, “You’re at the bottom son! Watch your mouth and act if you want your back.”

“What do you want from me?” Hyunseung croaked.

“That’s more like it,” Seungsoo clucked his tone and gestured his chin towards his man.

Hyunseung did not even have the will to protest as he let the bouncer take him by the shoulder and tossed him to the sofa across Seungsoo. On the table before him, Hyunseung saw a piece of paper with 3 names clearly written on it as each name was accompanied with an address and a picture. “What is this?” he picked up the piece of paper.

“Your ticket to get your girlfriend back,” was Seungsoo’s only reply.

“Who are you?” Hyuna turned towards the kidnapper who was driving the car. “Don’t you have a mouth?” she shrieked, “I just asked you who you are! Where are you bringing me to?” Silence greeted her once again as Yongguk pressed his lips into a thin line, not wanting say a word about the situation.

On the other hand, Hyuna was slowly losing insanity. They had been travelling for almost half of the day and still continued on with the journey even when night had approached. Yongguk had not said a word and was driving her nuts. What was going on? Why was she here? What does this man want from her? She had asked all sorts of questions but none were answered.

“Can’t you at le-” Hyuna was saying but the car screeched to a stop. She had to lean her hands onto the dashboard to avoid from tumbling forward and watched Yongguk took of his seatbelt. Her heart raced once again when she saw him storming out of the driver’s seat with a fierce look on his face and was heading towards her.

What has she done? Did she just dig her own grave?

Yongguk pulled her out of the car and slammed her against the door. With a serious expression, he closed the distance between the two of them as they had their faces only a few inches away from each other. “If you wish to live, behave!” he barked.

Their eyes boring into one another.

                Heavy breathings filled their eardrums.

The two of them stood in that position for ages, only looking at each other straight in the eyes as if they were communicating through their gazes. The star formed on the night sky twinkled while the moon was the only witness for the scene that was happening between Hyuna and Yongguk.

                It was strange.

She could see pain in the kidnapper’s eyes.

Was he forced to do this?

“Why should I oblige to you?” Hyuna’s voice trembled in fear but she had mustered up all her courage to ask the last question.

“Because your life is in my hands,” Yongguk stated it in his low-toned voice, sending cold shivers down Hyuna’s spine.

Chapter 4: Just read this and not regretting. It was really good, dude! Kudos to you. As far as the storyline goes, I'm really curious to what yongguk have in his sleeves. Is he really that heartless? Or is there some reason related to Hyuna when she only saw pain in his eyes? Does Hyuna just served as a prize to win for both the guys? Just a suggestion, but it would be really interesting if Hyuna had more active role to play than just being a love interest. As for Hyunseung, I'm not really a 2hyun shipper (lol, I only saw them as weird 4D siblings who strangely had to kiss and each other) Pardon my wordings. If only they could move on from each other, then it would be less painful, right? So yeah, I'm rooting for yonggukxhyuna pairing. But you have my word that I'll continue supporting this story, eo? Take your time cause writer's block can be an annoying crap sometimes. All the best! ;)
