Fortyone.
VainJaehye tossed and turned in her sleep the whole night as I stayed up and watched her. She mumbled and cried. I wonder what she was dreaming about... I started to doze off but suddenly jumped up from the couch as she screamed.
"Hey! Hey! Hey!" I said as I cupped her face as faced it to me, "It's okay, it's okay. It's just a dream,"
She breathed heavily, "Mark... It's wasn't a dream... it was a nightmare," she said. I combed her hair away from her face, then I noticed the necklace. I smiled.. I can't believe she still wears it. "Oh.. this," she said as she covered it up. "Don't you dare have any misunderstanding thoughts,"
"Why would I? When we're both thinking the same," she tilt her head in confusion. I chuckled. "Never mind," I sat beside her on the bed as she laid on her side towards me. "Are you going back to sleep," she shook her head. "Want me to sleep with you?" she shook her head again. Tell me why a part of me wanted her to say yes?
"Just stay beside me like this," she said. I nodded. At least it's better than me going back to the couch. "I had a nightmare," she whispered.
"I know," I said.
"No... that nightmare was no nightmare at all... I was falling... I was falling into a deep dark hole. Suddenly, I was beside Jungkook... and my parents were seen from a distance," I watched her as she continued. "He said.. 'Noona.. I'll always be by your side,'" she paused as tears formed in her eyes, "But then he left with my parents," tears came down, "I ran after them.. but they kept getting further and further away,"
"Stop it," I said as I leaned down to her and wiped her tears, "Like I said... It's just a dream,"
"But what if it's not?"
"Stop thinking like that. I know you're not like that," I said. "You're strong, not weak. Jungkook will be alright," she nodded as I kissed her forehead. "Can I sleep beside you now?" I asked again. This time, she agreed. I had one of my arm as her pillow while the other was holding her.
"Mark... I'm sorry," I heard her say.
"For what," I was confused. Why is she saying sorry for? Shouldn't I be the one that's sorry? I can't even do anything to help her.
"I'm sorry about later," Now I was definitely curious about what she's talking about.
"What do you mean?" I asked. She didn't respond. "Jaehye," I nudged her.. Sleep. I sighed... "So shady..." I whispered.
It was around 9 when I woke up to Jaehye playing around with my hair. "What are you doing?"
"Remembering you," she answered. I sat up and so did she.
"Why are you saying weird things?"
"They're not weird?" she said with a question mark at the end.
"Yes, they are," I said. We stared at each other for a long while before being disturb by a doctor and nurse.
"Excuse us," they both bowed. I got off the bed immediately, knowing that the atmosphere turned from serious to awkward. I hope they're not mistakening anything here. "I need to speak with you," said the doctor. Jaehye and I exchanged looks before I headed out the room with the doctor as the nurse was giving her treatment. He turned around to me as I shut the door behind me, "Has she injured her head before?"
I shook my head, "Not that I know of,"
He sighed, "It's a good thing you guys came to us right away or else she would've had a lot of dead blood cell. We found many of them clod up at the corner of her left eye,"
"Will she be
