“I don’t like it.”

Luhan looked up to see Suho, holding a script in his hand with a cute face scrunched up while eyeing the chinese boy. It made Luhan smiled back a bit clueless-ly.

“What’s wrong, Joonmyeon-ah?” he asked, his soft voice always sound so soft and alluring from his forever pink and imperfect, pouty lips.

Suho showed him the script, “you know our producing team is ty.” Luhan giggled at the sudden outburst of protest came from the black haired boy, “Young Min hyung promised me to appear in second teaser, although I should be the first cause I’m the leader. Now look at the schedule. Not only I’ll appear next year, they will put Dio together with me! I mean, how hard to give me a solo act, we had 23 teasers for the God Sakes! Even that Kris had his own time!”

“Calm down, calm down.” Luhan patted Suho’s back gently.

Suho glared at him, “easy to you to speak. You’ll be in second teaser.” He said while throwing the script at Luhan’s face.

“Ouch,” Luhan pouted, “you don’t have to be so mean.” But then he read the script and suddenly his eyes widened, “wait, Joonmyeonnie…” the brown haired boy immediately grabbed Suho’s hand as he read it over and again the name of his dancing pair at second teaser, “I’ll be dancing with Jongin?”

Suho gave him a strange look, “yeah, you have problem with that?”

Luhan realized he might looked troubled so he smiled and shook his head, although then he eyed the script again, pretend to read all the content while his eyes could only focused on a name.

Luhan cleared his throat.

“I don’t like it.”

Kai stared at Sehun who was pacing back and forth in front of him. His eyes furrowed in curiosity at why Sehun became so troubled but as usual, he was too lazy to open his mouth so he just waited until Sehun stopped moving and pointed at him.

“You promised will make me appear in second teaser.” That’s what the youngest accusation, “You said,” Sehun mimicked Kai both in bold expression and cocky tone, ‘I’ll talk to Young Min hyung, no, to Chief himself, so you can appear in the second teaser,’ then Sehun spat at him, “you know what, Kim Jongin, YOU’RE A BULL!”

Kai yawned.

“ you.” Sehun snatched the script from Dio (who kept re-reading his part, still couldn’t believe all he did was flying a kite), before smacking it to the floor. Both Kai and Dio looked at him soullessly, before Dio get the script again and continue reading.

“I thought you were jealous for something better.” Dio muttered, his round eyes found Sehun as he turned the script and tapped the list of teaser when Sehun and Kai returned him a confused look, “See, here. Kai will dance together with Luhan. Your Luhan, Sehun.”

When they heard that, Kai snorted while Sehun approached Dio and pinching both the older cheeks, “Dio oh Dio why are you so cute…” the youngest said in between gritted teeth.

“There’s no way Luhan-…” belongs to this dumb, that’s the rest of Kai’s words which was swallowed back into his throat, because he was too shocked when he heard Sehun said,

“Kai wouldn’t dare to touch what’s mine. He’s that kind of best friend people should have.”

A sudden pang hit Kai in the chest. The joyful feeling he had from before disappeared. He exchanged gaze with Dio, giving a silent announcement of him leaving this room, before he got up and walked, ignoring Sehun who stopped molesting Dio and took interest to ask where he would go.

“I’ll go out and kiss every girl I met on the street. Do you want to join?”

‘ert’ and ‘cocky bastard’ was the answer from Sehun and so Kai chuckled darkly as he left.

However, as soon as the door behind him closed, there’s no girl he wanted to kiss. Only one name and one word kept appearing in his mind.

“So, all of us gather here-…” Kris looked at both Kai and Luhan before the tallest nudged at pouting Suho who stood next to him to pay attention to what he was gonna say, “to celebrate Kai’s first teaser and the making of Kai and Luhan first teaser as together.”

Luhan clapped in happiness, although Kai couldn’t find why the older had to waste so much energy, but because Luhan was so cute, Kai decided to stare at him as intense as he could, at least until Luhan realized his act was so childish and feel embarrassed doing it. However, the longer Kai stared into Luhan, he got more captivated with Luhan’s cheerfulness. In no time, he already smiled without he even realized, Suho had to fake a cough of ‘Kai-Stop-It’ to snap him back from trance.

“I’m sorry, what are we talking about?” Kai asked Kris dumbly.

Kris glared at him.

“We’re going to eat, as celebration.” The clueless cutipie named Luhan explained to Kai with a too close whisper to his cheek, “It’s on their treat, since they were the leaders.”

“O-Oh. That’s great” Kai smiled awkwardly while took back from Luhan, because Luhan’s lips practically brushing his skin. Usually he didn’t mind getting so close to others but of course Luhan was always different case. Kai couldn’t decide if he had crush over Luhan or not so he didn’t want to be reckless. However, Luhan realized his gesture as refusal because the face turned cloudy when the older decide to move away from him and keep his distance from Kai ever since.

“What’s wrong?”

Kai stared at Sehun with mixed feeling. Here they were standing next to each other at the rooftop of SM Building, taking some fresh air after practicing for their teaser. His mind kept encouraging his mouth to spill the question, if Luhan and Sehun was dating or if Luhan just became Sehun’s property in the youngest dream, or if Kai could own Luhan in loving and romantic way.

All he could say was, “I want to eat jjajangmyun.”

Sehun furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, “you just eat with hyung-nims like, an hour ago.”

“But I’m hungry.” Kai said persistently.

“Fine.” Sehun grumbled while pulling out his phone, “just ask anything from me like I’m your ing noona.” He muttered sarcasm under his breath.

Kai couldn’t help but pulling Sehun into a loose hug, “you’re my friend. Friends take care of each other, right?”

“As the matter of fact, I’m taking care of you more than you take care of me.”

“That’s because you’re a maknae. Everyone took care of you already.”

Sehun shook his head, “bull, always bull in your head,” but then, a small smile appeared on his face, "I feel bad for your future wife.” he joked.

Kai laughed, tried to free his mind from any disturbance because of Luhan and Sehun but his heart found it’s hard to cool down and kept bouncing in panic, cause if he let this feeling grew even more without knowing the truth about his friend's exact relationship with Luhan, he was afraid what’s waiting in the future will only unrequited pain.

“What do you think?”

The ‘Time Control’ teaser repeatedly played in Lay’s laptop, with Luhan eyes still fixed on the screen while asking Lay’s opinion like he was searching for a flaw. Lay just shrugged cause now Luhan already asked it for nth-time and the younger thought Luhan never felt satisfy with the answer.

Actually Luhan didn’t care with the music, the background, or how many viewers it get on Youtube. His attention fixed on Kai and himself and their dance moves. Seeking the clue of emotion from their body languages, but so far Kai looked as cold as ice, as firm as steel and as handsome as devil, while him, he only wanted to get rid of his bangs so it won’t cover some of his face.

They were just stranger dancing together. They didn’t have time to interact with each other with their music and movement, hence taking a glance. Kai didn’t even smile when they were near, it reminded him of their last meeting at the small celebration with Suho and Kris. Kai was a cheerful person, at least around his close friends, and Luhan was so sad to just know him after they became EXO. Luhan wished in his training time he could meet Kai often and befriend with the boy.

At first, Luhan thought Kai was racist, cause the boy only had Korean Friends. But then Huang Zhi Tao entered SM and befriend with Sehun, and everyone who was befriend with Sehun could try to be Kai’s friend. That’s what Luhan did all these past years but Tao entered the small circle Kai had as the boy’s close friend, while Luhan left as ‘Hyung’.

“You know, this boy really cold to me.” Luhan paused the video and pointed at Kai.

“Really?” Lay eyes widened, suddenly interested with his question, “but Jongin, no, Kai-sshi was a very good kid. Once when we’re hanging out together, he told me to not believe in Sehun. Hmm, I don’t know why, though, Sehun seemed so nice too.”

Luhan stared at Lay in disbelief, “Lay, don’t say you’re hanging out with Kai.”

Lay blinked, “I do,” he said truthfully, “with Kai, Sehun, Tao, you know, the Dance-Line.”

Ugh, Luhan really hated that word. Suddenly he hated Lay and all people who could be close to Kai, for no reason. He only got up from his bed and grabbed Lay’s arm while grumbling, “hey, let’s get drunk tonight.”

“Huh?” Lay furrowed his eyebrows, “why, Ge? Are you mad I’m close to Kai-sshi?”

The right answer just made Luhan flustered even more, he released Lay’s hand and stomped out his way from the bedroom. He asked himself, why this had to happen? Why Kai had to be so important for him and why his head felt so dizzy with all these jealousy?

“Damn it!”

Luhan stopped running when he reached the back door and kicked it open, just to hear a bump sound and a low grumbled from the other side.

“Ouch!”

“I’m sorry.” Luhan immediately went back to his own self, “I don’t see you there.”

“Of course you won’t see me,” the door opened wide, revealing six feet tall of Kim Jongin who was grunting over his reddened nose, “I think you should apologize to the door, hyung. It’s not meant to be kicked.”

Luhan couldn’t help but smile at the humor he found in Kai’s words, “you’re right.” He averted his gaze at the poor door and caressed it in apology, cause suddenly his mind decided to stop thinking and play the rock music instead which made his heart going ‘thump’ and ‘bump’ the time their eyes met, “I’m sorry.” He said it to Kai, while still looking at the door.

“To the door or to me?” Kai asked, and Luhan was sure this boy was teasing him cause when Luhan took a peek at the taller, a small smirk was decorating the handsome face. Ah, what a gorgeous boy, Luhan mentally stated, before he blinked, surprised at how his mental health could be this wrong. Last time he checked he was still seeing girls in their hot pants or still had wet dream with this hollywood actress although as the time comes by she turned to have more resemblance to Kai in every ual aspect.

“To both.”

Luhan smiled, in hope he could end the argument he had in his head. Strangely, his smile made Kai uncomfortable that the boy said nothing and just walked past him. Not even saying a nice good night to Luhan. It made Luhan’s smile faltered, and the rocking sound inside his brain stopped playing with his heart.

If only disappointment kills he would be simply dead by now. But, much to his agony, his heart still beating and he’s still breathing even though he got rejected again. Why, he asked himself as he walked out the dorm building, why it was so hard to reach the boy’s heart? He only wanted to be friends to Kai, or more, if the world allowed it.

But no, there's no place for Luhan in Kai's life.
