The Last Pages Were Ripped Away
Description
Born into an aristocracy that governs the land, young Sehun grew up knowing he was destined to a gruesome battle of authority, and that things like love and laughter were forbidden as signs of weakness. But when Mei Zhen, an angel, a Slave, enters his life and thaws his frozen heart, Sehun begins to believe in hope---only to have it come crashing down on him when she is robbed of her bright character by the merciless disparity between classes. Their young souls unable to tolerate the pain and the brutality of fate, they both become emotionally detached from everything, including each other. However after a ten year gap, unexpected events tug the two closer yet pull them apart at the same time, leading to a heart-wrenching tragedy where the loss comes too suddenly.
Foreword
“W-Who is it?” His voice quivered in the suffocating silence. “Show yourself.” Sehun tried again, this time with the inborn authority he held, feeling oddly like Father, the Lord of the Manor.
His keen ears caught a slight rustle from behind, and he spun around on his feet---
---to find an angel before him---impossibly so in this grand castle of demons.
Partially hidden behind the curtains flowing in the midnight breeze, a girl stood in front of the large window, the silvery moonlight shining spellbindingly on her small figure. Her large, watery doe eyes were like a pair of clear ponds that reflected the sparkling stars in the sky; they were enough to make Sehun's heart thunder with a beautiful yearning that he had never experienced before.
“H-Hello.”
Young Mei had been a vulnerable angel lead into the chambers of hell, disguised in aristocracy and nobility. But her blinding innocence seemed to have scared away the shameful rumors and the shameless liars. She had filled the hallways with her airy laughter as she jumped up and down to wipe the windows; had illuminated the dull kitchen with her humming while she helped peel potatoes---had thawed a heart frozen by discipline and cynicism. And Sehun basked in the warmth of her smiles more liberating than that of sunlight, let her melodious laughter infuse vitality back into his listless soul, and soon found a lovely, mesmerizing reason to live as they shared their time in their secret sanctum. Maybe happiness can actually exist within these crimson walls, he had thought.
But the loss came so suddenly that his hopes ruptured into severed, bloody pieces and splattered all around, which the Slave had to scrub off the marble floors on her hands and knees.
