o3. A First in Everything

Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

Daehyun

The beat of my eraser cap created a tattoo on my desk as it bounced against the surface. I stared blankly out the windows that stretched across the other side of the room, counting down the seconds to when the bell would ring.

He was late to class yesterday, probably because it had been his first day and all, but, he should have been on time today. Ulgh, wasn’t anyone considerate anymore? How could I have any time at all to appreciate the beautiful work of art that was his if he didn’t even bring it into the classroom on time?!

I blinked in surprise at the insanely loud scraping next to me and I looked over just as someone sat in the seat next to mine. Maybe I hadn’t been paying as much attention to my surroundings as I thought I had been. , I missed out in some -gazing time. . I’ll have to wait until he stands up now. Just great, and his jeans looked hella tight today. Oh god. Stop thinking about that, Daehyun! Look away from the boys crotch. You can do it! Be cool!

“Hi, sorry… there’s someone sitting in the seat I was in yesterday.”

Oh god, that smile. Did I just swoon? Maybe I did. But my god this boy could smile, it was like his whole face lit up with just that one act. It kinda made me want to pinch his chubby little cheeks… not that that was the only cheeks I wanted to pinch, but I digress.

“No problem…” Did I sound cool? I hope I did. I leaned back in my seat; propping back in what I would hope was a cool pose. I’d never be able to get into this boys pants if I made a dork of myself.

“Yoo~ Youngjae~~! I didn’t know you were in this class!!”

Yoo Youngjae. So that was his name. I liked it; it had a sort of flow that just rolled right off your tongue. The spaces were even perfect. Yoo. Young. Jae. Yeah… I could get used to that name.

“Oh… Hey, Jihoon.” Youngjae looked up at the deep voiced guy that was now leaned against our table. “You must not have been paying attention yesterday morning… I sat right over there…” He pointed to the occupied seat to the left of the classroom.

Jihoon sat up for a minute, looking across the classroom to the desk that was closest to the door. A girl now sat in the seat, gossiping quite loudly with the girl next to her.

“Oh… well, Youngjae, why are you sitting here… You should sit with me, c’mon!”

Youngjae was smiling sweetly up at Jihoon, “Nah, I’m good… I can see the board from here. You should go sit down, though, the bell is about to ring.”

Jihoon shrugged, “Suit yourself…” he turned his attention to me, “Oh, by the way, Daehyun, Jaehyo told Zico to tell me to tell you to tell Yongguk to let Himchan know that he’s looking for him.” He grinned.

“Alright, I’ll let Yongguk hyung know…”

“Thanks…”

If Jaehyo was looking for Himchan, that could only mean one thing and that was that our dearest Orange hyung was getting into trouble with the ladies again. It was always something with that derp. I’d have to make sure I remembered to let Yongguk know, or just tell Himchan myself. You know, that would probably be easier. Yongguk always has so much on his mind and although he’s good about remembering stuff, with the first semester finals around the corner, I didn’t know if I could rely on him that much.

“So you’re name is Daehyun?”

I looked up, “What?” Very eloquent, dip. “Y-yeah, it is… Youngjae, right?”

Youngjae nodded his head, busy slipping out of his jacket and draping it over the back of his chair. He loosened his scarf a little bit as he smiled at me again, “Yeah…”

“So, how do you know P.O?”

“Who? Jihoon, you mean? I met him yesterday.” Youngjae smiled, “He was nice enough to show me around the school.”

“Oh, really? I’m surprised he even knows his own way around… Unless it includes Taeil hyung, he usually doesn’t pay attention.”

Wow, okay, I think I’m swooning again. What is up with me today? I’m going to go ahead and blame it on Youngjae, because I’m usually not like this at all and he’s the only change that has happened recently but, wow, yeah okay seriously. His laugh is adorable, like, just wow. How did I get him to do that, and can I do it again?

“Okay, I thought I just caught him at a bad time.” Youngjae was grinning, “It’s good to know that I’m not the only one that has been subjected to hours of talk about this Taeil guy. You know, Jihoon didn’t even show me who he was.”

“You’ll meet him soon enough, especially if you hang out with Jihoon enough.”

Youngjae smiled once more at me, nodding his head. I want to pretend like we would have gotten to talk more and that I would have gotten him to laugh again, but, now the bell was ringing and he was pulling out his notebook. The cover was a bright sunshine yellow, and there were doodles all over it ranging from little flowers to hearts and a few adorable little bunnies. I couldn’t help but scoff a little, “Cute.”

“W-What?” Youngjae’s eyes widened as his cheeks flushed a light pink. He flipped the cover over quickly, very nearly slamming it onto the desk, “No it’s not. Shut up.”

I stared at him for a moment before turning my attention to the board and choosing to ignore his obvious embarrassment over me catching the doodles along the cover of his notebook. I smirked a bit; his cuteness was far too adorable. I was beginning to think I was right in my assumption of him being a .

I propped my chin onto my palm, keeping my head forward but stealing glances to the side at Youngjae every few minutes. He really was pretty up close, his brown hair was a bit curly, and he had a hat on, the soft knitted cap rocked back on his head.

You’re being creepy.

Stop staring.

Just a few more minutes won’t hurt.

! He noticed.

I turned my head away, looking out the window as though I had been looking there the whole time. I kept my breathing calm as I waited patiently and after a few minutes, I finally felt brave enough to look back forward, steeling another glance at Youngjae.

Youngjae’s pencil paused for a minute before he shook his head very softly, going back to finishing the sentence he was writing.

“Why do you keep staring at me?” he hissed suddenly, his eyes trained on the teacher at the front of the class as he continued to go on about the subject at hand.

“I’m not staring at you…” I mumbled back, beginning to doodle in the margin of my paper that I had yet to write a single note on.

“Yes you are.” Youngjae wrote down another sentence before looking at me, “Stop it. It’s weird.” He said, turning back to his paper.

Well… .

I think the school purposely has a machine that physically slows down time every time that I want class to go by quicker. I couldn’t get out of my afternoon classes fast enough, still shoving things into my backpack as I practically sprinted from the room in haste to get to the café where my friends and I would always meet up.

As always, Yongguk was already sitting at our table. He was staring down at his phone with a smile, typing into it constantly as he ate a muffin which could only lead me to believe that he was texting Jieun.

That’s just great. A distracted Yongguk is never fun to talk to you. He nods his head and goes ‘mhmm’ and everything and after you’ve done spilled your heart out to him, he’ll always look up at you with an expression akin to a kicked puppy and admit that he really wasn’t paying attention.

I flopped dramatically into my chair with a heavy sigh.

“What’s wrong now, Daehyun? The pursuit of the harder then you thought it would be?”

I rolled my eyes, “Yes! Oh my god, we were talking and everything just fine in class and everything and I probably could have been in his pants by sunset, but he caught me staring again and he called me weird… I’m weird to him now, Guk!”

“Mhmm…”

“Ulgh! Hyung!! Listen to me!!” I waved my hand in front of his face, waiting until he looked up at me.

“I’m sorry, I was—“

“Texting Jieun, I know… just… Guk, help me?” I pouted, blinking a few times to pull the perfect innocent look that usually always worked on Yongguk.

He sighed softly, putting down his cell phone, “Dae, stop giving me that look.” He said, reaching over and pushing at my forehead, causing me to whine.

“Well, then help me hyung! Youngjae thinks I’m weird!”

“You are weird, what am I supposed to do?” Yongguk said, taking a bite of his muffin, “Why does it matter?”

“If he thinks I’m weird, then he’s not just gonna sleep with me, hyung…”

Yongguk nodded, “Alright, okay… then… uhm… become his secret admirer… I don’t know… leave him cheesy pick up lines in his locker or something… That’s how Narsha got with Gain…”

I pursed my lips, “You think it’ll work?”

“Sure…”

“You don’t sound confident…” I whined, flopping back in my chair, “Ulgh, where’s Chan, I want a second opinion…”

Yongguk smirked, “Our little Chan is finally growing up and is going on a date tonight…”

I raised an eyebrow, “He goes on dates all the time, hyung… why are you acting like it’s something new—“

“You know that guy he left with yesterday… Jongup?”

I shrugged my shoulders, vaguely remembering the brunette that had come into the café yesterday with Youngjae. He seemed vaguely familiar, but not enough so that I actually knew his name.

“Yeah, well, he spent the night at his place last night…”

“Hyung, Chan sleeps with a lot of people, staying the night with someone isn’t something new, seriously—“

“It is when they didn’t have .”

“I-whoa… Chan didn’t have … and he stayed over at someone’s place?? That’s… not normal…” I pouted my lips a little, “He only does that with me…. I better still be his favorite dongsaeng…” I said, not happy about the possibility of Himchan replacing my friendship spot. I mean, I’m all for him actually getting a real boyfriend and settling down with one person and not sleeping around all the time. But still… I didn’t want to lose one of my best friends to a relationship. It was bad enough being the third wheel for Yongguk and Jieun.

I sighed, watching as Yongguk checked his phone again. “Alright, you get back to texting Jieun… thanks for the advice, hyung…”

“Mhmm.”

I rolled my eyes at the half ignored response. .

I would have stayed longer to talk with him, but I wanted to head back to my dorm. Maybe Yongguk’s suggestion would actually work?

Himchan

I turned for the up tenth time, my eyes scanning over my and up my shirt before I faced the mirror again, my fingers once more going to my hair to pinch and turn each little delicate curl that I had mused into the brown locks. I pouted my lips, leaning forward to check my makeup.

“You’re being weird Kim Himchan.” I said, staring at my reflection as I stood back up straight, pressing my palm to my stomach as the nervous flutter of butterflies caused the oddest sense of nausea.

I was nervous.

I could almost laugh. The Great Kim Himchan does not get nervous, not over a date. Never over some boy. Never. It just didn’t happen.

I wasn’t a nervous person. I was confident in practically everything I did. I know how hot I am, what angles work for me, what I look like and what people see of me and I’m fine with that, which was how I was so confident.

Yet here I stood before a mirror (which was nothing new in that retrospect, honestly), judging each of the flaws that I had come to own and work to my advantage. My hair didn’t look right, my nose felt all wrong, my cheeks looked bloated and my skin looked washed out.

I shook my head, squeezing my eyes shut and pinching the bridge of my nose.

I was nervous.

I looked hot, and I knew it… but… , I’m nervous.

The sudden vibration in my back pocket had me nearly jumping against my reflection as I looked down quickly in surprise, fishing out my cell phone.

Of course, after I had run out on Jongup this morning, I hadn’t even thought to leave him with my number but somehow, the shorter male had managed to get it (probably from Zelo, bless his little 6 foot tall heart1).  I pouted my lips again, sliding my finger across the phone and typing in the unlock code before scrolling to the new message.

My heart gave a little flutter as a smile pulled at my lips.

From: Jonguppie

hey channie im outside r u ready?

                                5:53 PM

I tapped the bottom of the screen, popping open the reply box and tapping the buttons quickly before hitting send.

                From: Himchan

                Yup! I’ll be down in just a second~ ;)

                                                5:56 PM

I looked at myself one more time in the mirror before nodding. This was really as good as it was going to get because with my nerves I knew I would probably have changed at least ten more times if I had time to.

I plastered on a smile and grabbed my wallet, pushing it into my back pocket as I grabbed my house keys and phone and headed out the door. I took the stairs with a bit of excitement, making more noise than probably necessary in the large house, as not a second after I reached the bottom, my mum was leaning over the banister on the second floor.

“Dear lord, Himchan. You sounded like a herd of elephants stomping through the house, do try to keep it down next time, please…”

“Sorry, Umma! I’ll be back later tonight, okay?”

“Mhmm, isn’t that what you say every night…”

“Umma!”

“Don’t ‘Umma’ me… go on your date, have fun, and for the love of god, use protection…”

I rolled my eyes, “See, Umma, this is why I don’t bring people home!”

My mum smiled at me, waving me off, “Yeah yeah, get on with it now, Channie, don’t leave the poor boy waiting outside, it’s cold.”

I pouted my lips, crossing my arms as I made my way through the front foyer, still shouting the conversation with my mom. “How do you know it’s a boy, anyways, Umma? I could be on a date with a girl!”

My mum let out a rich laugh, holding onto the banister for support. By now my dad was peeking out of the door frame to see what Umma and I were going on about. He smirked, leaning against the wood as he eyed me. “You’re our son, Chan… You only ever wear those jeans when you’re going out with a guy for the night…”

I pouted harder, “I do not!”

“You do too, Channie~ Because they make my precious babies look good, now shoo and have fun!”

I stuck my tongue out at my parents, pulling open the front door before slipping out into the cold air and pulling my thin jacket tighter around me as I hopped down the front steps to meet Jongup at the side walk.

He was smiling as usual as he waited for me.

“Sorry that took so long… parents… yah’know?”

Jongup nodded, looking back at the large house, “You still live with your parents though?” He asked, and I couldn’t help but blush.

“Uhm… yeah… It’s expensive to live on campus, and they’re house is close enough for me and besides… I thought we’ve already been over the fact that I spend a lot of time in other people’s beds…” I said, smirking a little to try to make up for the fact that I was still blushing.

Jongup pouted a little as he looked over at me, “Just because we went over that fact doesn’t mean that I like to remember it…” He said, blinking adorably up at me before looking away.

Okay, like seriously, who gave this kid the right to be so adorable and y and be jealous over the fact that I sleep around, like, oh my god, does he not know what I would do to him right now if we weren’t in public.

Then again… public …

As the wind picked up, I was reminded of the harsh fact that it was nearly freezing and there was no way that I would ever drop my pants in this weather and any thoughts of public were sent back to the corner of my mind to hibernate and wait for warmer weather.

I shivered a bit, crossing my arms to try to keep in some of the warmth of my body.

Jongup smiled at me, “Sorry, I know it’s a bit cold… why didn’t you wear a thicker jacket?”

I shrugged, “I don’t really have one…” I admitted, smiling as I turned to Jongup. “We won’t be outside for long, right?”

Jongup shook his head, “Nah, but… we still have a little while before dinner…” he glanced at his watch for a minute before grinning, “Oh! I know what we can do… trust me?”

I shrugged softly, “Yeah, I guess so… what do you have in mind—oh.” Jongup took my hand quickly, pulling me along at a fast pace, excitement in his step.

Maybe he was thinking about a quickie before work? Although I really didn’t want anything to happen to my jeans (they really were my favorite to be honest, my mum was right, my looked amazing in them), I would not mind getting on my knees for this boy.

So here I am, thinking about all sorts of and what Jongup was thinking about, and what kind of kinks he might have, I wasn’t really even paying attention to where we were going.

That was until my disappointment hit me and Jongup came to a stop in front of a single shop, pushing open the door and leading me into the thankfully warm and cozy space. He bowed politely to the noona behind the counter before dragging me farther into the small shop.

“Uhm… a book store?” I asked, looking around in almost confusion.

“Yeah…” Jongup smiled, “I know… it’s weird… here… the section over here is what we need…”

I raised an eyebrow as Jongup took me into the +19 section and right into the romance shelving. He sat down on the floor, sitting back on his feet as he began to skim the spines. He looked up at me, tugging on my hand to get me to sit too. “C’mon Chan~…”

I sighed, sitting down as I gave the spines of the books before a glance before looking back to Jongup, “Didn’t peg you for the… reading type… Thought you’d be more into comic books.”

“Oh… I don’t actually read these…” Jongup said, looking up at me through his bangs, “And I do like comic books…” he smiled as he pulled a book free from the shelves. “It’s a game a like to play though… you grab a book off the shelf, and skim through it and try to find the dirtiest passage that you can, and you have to read it out loud… the one who gets the most embarrassed first looses…”

I pouted my lips looking to the spines as I reached for one and slid it free carefully, “And what does the winner get?”

Jongup shrugged, smirking, “What ever the winner wants.”

I nodded my head, flipping open the book, “Well then… I’m sorry, Jonguppie, but… I don’t do so well with loosing.”

Jongup laughed, “Yeah, okay Channie, I haven’t lost a single game!”

We spent nearly an hour on the floor together, constantly pulling more books off the shelves and taking turns whispering the dirty scenes to each other, each laughing at the descriptions that were within the book. Honestly I couldn’t understand how a few of them even ended up published.

I flailed my hand, “Omo~ I win, Jongup! I win… This one… This is the one.” I said, practically bouncing in excitement as I held up the book.

Jongup squinted a bit at it, “It’s in English…” He said, trying to make sense of the cover.

I waved him off, “Yeah, I found it over there…” I pointed to the section that I had crawled to not but a few moments ago to find some new books, “Is your English not that good?”

Jongup shook his head and I smiled, “Okay, I’ll just translate… it’s totally worth it… You ready?”

Jongup nodded his head, setting down his book as I flipped the page back over and cleared my throat. Reading and translating took a bit of effort, and I’m sure that I botched some of the words but it’s not like it made a difference, this scene was golden. I would totally pay the few thousand won to buy it just to show off how something like this could be published.

“Her long hair, still wet from the shower, had been combed down her back in a wet swath. Hilda was sitting on the floor, her round, wet s still wet from the shower’s water. She dried off the water with a towel, which then became wet.” I started out dramatically, glancing up at Jongup’s face as it showed the utter confusion that I had felt when first reading the line. Seriously, we get it, she was wet, everything was wet. Water is wet. But please, continue on Himchan. “Hilda gasped when she saw a reflection in her bedroom mirror: through the slightly open door, she caught a glimpse of the chiseled abs and square jaw of the mysterious stranger who shared her cabin. She stood and spun around, her s swinging heavily with the momentum. She grabbed the door and flung it open, revealing shirtless Torolf quivering with desire in the hallway.”

“Wait… Tr-Tor… Torolf??” Jongup said, a grin breaking out on his face, “That’s seriously not his name; you’re making things up…”

“No I’m not! Look~” I said, turning the book towards him and putting my finger beneath the name, “See…”

Jongup laughed, waving me on, “Oh god, with a name like that… okay, okay, go on!”

I cleared my throat again and began once more. “Torolf was ashamed at being caught, but his shame made him even hotter — hotter for . He stepped into the room, and his bulging abs accidentally smushed into Hilda’s rich chest.”

Jongup nearly collapsed back as he laughed, “Oh my god, what is he… 7 foot to her five foot, how do s even end up on your abs?!”

I giggled, waving my hand at him, “Shh, Uppie! It gets better!” I had to control my giggles before I began again, “As Hilda’s buttermilk bosoms squished up against his granite abs, Torolf almost had a aneurysm.”

By now, Jongup couldn’t contain his giggles and was laying on the soft carpet, laughing as I pressed on, reading from the book in the most dramatic of ways, dipping my voice down huskily on each oddly placed word and even odder description. I got to the end of the passage, pausing for dramatic effect as I finished up. “She walked across the room and picked up her towel, still wet with shower water. “Torolf,” she said softly, “there’s something I have to tell you…” But her bed was empty. Torolf was gone, escaped out the bedroom window. In the distance, Hilda heard the fading sound of galloping abs.”2

It took us several minutes to finally get ourselves back under control, laughter still in our throats and tears in our eyes as we cleaned up the books around us.

Jongup rolled over, snatching the book from me with the biggest grin on his face, “Okay, this book wins… a million times over…” he said, turning the pages over as he shook his head, “I’m never going to be able to play this game again, not with the knowledge that this exists…” He looked around thoughtfully, “We’re going to buy it…” He grinned at me, “This good of a book cannot be hidden away back on the shelf…”

I smirked, “So, I win, huh?”

“Oh, of course…” Jongup said, standing up and reaching down to take my hands and help me to my feet. “So… What do you want, oh mighty winner…”

“Mmm… I don’t know…” I said, shrugging as a smile touched my lips. Jongup was still holding my hands and was standing impossibly close again, enough so that the cologne that he wore invaded my senses and once more with each exhale, I could smell his toothpaste on his breath. “Surprise me.”

“Surprise you…” Jongup smirked, his fingers tightening a little bit on mine before he let go of my hands. “Alright.”

Before I knew it, his palm was pressed to my cheek, his other hand gently rested on the back of my neck as he pulled me forward and our lips met.

Now, I sleep around a lot. How many more times do I have to say that? I’ve had in nearly every position that me or anyone else could think of. I’ve tried things that you wouldn’t even dream of… yet, to be completely fair, I could still count the number of people that I’ve actually kissed with my fingers alone. Kissing was special. Kissing wasn’t just something that you ran out and did with a complete stranger. Sure, during people kiss your jaw and along your collar bones, down your chest and your inner thighs… but to actually be kissed, on the lips, no tongue action at all… just something so sweet and innocent.

Damn.

He really was taking my breath away. Just… wow. My mind was completely blessed out as I brought my fingers up to the front of his shirt, the material as I tried to pull him closer. His lips felt amazing pressed against mine, and when he stepped it up a notch and nibbled at my bottom lip, I couldn’t help but moan softly into his mouth, melting to a puddle of goo on the inside.

I’ve never had someone make me feel so weak at the knees with just such a simple touch, and the thrill of it was amazing.

When he finally pulled away from me, I even surprised myself with the small whimper in the back of my throat as I tried to follow him, wanting more. When he chuckled a bit, I finally blinked open my eyes, staring at him.

Jongup’s cheeks were flushed the cutest of pinks as he cleared his throat and looked away, “Uhm… we should probably go eat now… right?”

“Mmm, I guess…” I said, my lips slowly as I tried to savor every moment that we had shared in the kiss, trying my damnedest to burn each little touch of his fingers and the way his lips moved against mine to memory.

Jongup bent down for a moment, picking up the book that had slipped down to the floor before standing up and taking my hand again, this time interlocking our fingers as he smiled at me.

He really was something else…

Jieun was right this morning; I really do deserve to have a steady relationship. As I stared down at our interlocked fingers and followed Jongup to the counter to pay for the god awful book, I couldn’t help but smile to myself.

Maybe he was someone that I could actually fall in love with. Just as I looked up, Jongup caught my eyes, a sudden smile blossoming on his features before he turned away again to lead the way out of the small shop.

Well, .

Maybe I already have?

1I should as a side note here… I’m from the south, something that I’ve said many times before… Saying “bless your little heart” or any variation of that usually is just a super polite way to say “ You”… :D this has been a Southern USA PSA.

2Yes this is a real book, haha… It’s about a time travling Navy SEAL that is some how a Viking, and look okay, don’t question it… I actually own this book, alright? It’s called Rough and Ready by Sandra Hill ((and I’ve had it for years… I only read it after I found a post on tumblr about the god awful .)) Anyways… this chapter almost included a ton of excerpts of them reading back and forth, but if I start pulling the books off my bottom shelf to get to my romance novels, I’ll never stop reading.

Ahhh~~ Happy New Years you guys~ I'm seeing how this update schedule works for me. I will have an update every Saturday still, but I'm going to add in an update on either Monday and Tuesday, so it will be bi-weekly? I would love to update like, 10 chapters a day, but i want to take my time, to make sure I don't skip anything that I wanted to do.

Anyways, alot of you expressed the want to see more of Youngjae, so, here you go! Mind you, really, DO NOT take what everyone else thinks of him as canon, because, right now we jsut really have Daehyuns (extremely bias) opinion on Youngjae. I can't wait till we move to JaeJae's POV, haha~

Anwyas, have a good day~ and stay safe this new years!! See you all in 2k14!!

Cuddles,

Lynn

Chapter 9: I love this story more with each new update. All the interactions between everyone just makes this story so engaging and hilarious. And Jae, don't deny that the rose did things to your closet-romantic heart. HimUp continues to be perfect as always. BangSong, while not my cup of tea, is very adorable (and don't try to force the if it ain't flowing for you) and makes me smile at how much love they ooze everytime you write them. So yeah, gushing aside, keep up the great work and I look forward to more hijinks from all these characters!
