Brave Soul

My Only One

It’s been three days since they landed in Jeju and started the proposed project the moment they stepped out of the plane. You couldn’t imagine how hectic that day was.

Surprisingly, Sooyoung is doing a great job leading the project in Jeju alongside with Tiffany. Well, Tiffany, as we all know, is a hardworking woman so I think I don’t need to mention that she’s really trying her best to eventuate this project successfully.

Of course, we shouldn’t forget about our savior for this company trip, should we? Let’s all thank Seohyun for her diligence in guiding Sooyoung into a better, responsible, and committed adult. Oh, and not to mention how she blocks, (and yeah she still does, ‘cause damn, Hwang is such a brave soul ya know) Tiffany’s antics to get her “first love” back.

To be honest, Tiffany was really upset when she saw Seohyun at the airport because she thought she would be alone with Sooyoung on this trip. She had a plan on how to get close to Sooyoung again and she thought if she could remember their memories way back, she might remember that she was her first love. But to no avail, Seohyun always steals her every single time they had a free time. So, Tiffanny could only hope that she could really talk to Sooyoung before this trip ends.

“Okay let us all take a break! Good work everyone!” You could practically hear a light cheer from different parts of the office because, well, who wouldn’t want a break from yet another stressful day, right?

“Seohyun, you could also take a break, you know?” Sooyoung told her assistant who didn’t even budge when she announced the news everyone was waiting for, oh yeah, everyone except her.

“Just a minute, Ms. Choi. I’m almost done anyway. If I could finish this ahead of time I could help you with some of your tasks.” That’s how devoted Seohyun is.

“Aigoo, you’re still looking after me. I couldn’t help but to think that the success of this project goes all to you.” Sooyoung said half-heartedly with a faint smile on her face.

“Don’t forget about Ms. Hwang, she’s really working hard too.” Seohyun replied and Sooyoung’s eyes searched for the source of such name. And there she saw Tiffany still talking with their employees, probably giving instructions on what to do next.

“Yeah, I couldn’t do these things without you. Thank you.” Seohyun felt the genuineness of Sooyoung’s voice and couldn’t help but smile.

“Come on, let’s take a break.” Sooyoung tried once again to convince her assistant to eat with her and, probably it has to do something with what she just said, because Seohyun finally got up.

As they were about to head out, they saw Tiffany in front of the whiteboard with a whiteboard marker in her hand and had a serious face, like she was really thinking hard. Sooyoung looked at Seohyun then looked at Tiffany then looked backed at her again. Her assistant, being a very bright person, got what she meant and said, “Okay, I’ll wait outside.”

Sooyoung made her way to Tiffany. She was a bit startled by the appearance of the girl but smiled nonetheless.

“Me and Seohyun are gonna get some lunch. We looked at you and figured you might want some too.” Sooyoung returned the smile.

“Ah, yeah sure let me just grab my purse.” Tiffany put the marker in the table at the opposite of the board and grabbed her purse from her bag not far away from where she’s standing.

“Kaja!” Tiffany couldn’t hide the excitement in her voice which made Sooyoung smile a little. Well, she’s going to have a lunch with the one she loves and the fact that Seohyun would also be there doesn’t stopped her from being happy.

The two went outside just to see Seohyun talking over the phone.

“Ne, I’ll get on with it, Mr. Choi.” And by that, she hanged up. Sooyoung looked at her slightly worried because she suddenly became agitated.

“Ms. Choi, your father asked me to forward to him the files associated with this project just so he could check the stats that we’ve been working on.” Seohyun looked at her boss apologetically.

“Did you at least told him we’re taking a break?” Sooyoung asked almost begging her not to leave them alone.

“Well, he’s my boss too, you know. I can’t just shut him off like that. But I promise I’ll be quick. I’ll catch on you two.” Seohyun smiled reassuringly before quickly getting inside the building.

Sooyoung sighed before turning to Tiffany. “I guess it’s just you and me. Let’s go.” Tiffany smiled her signature eye-smile that Sooyoung unusually missed.

Back in Seoul, on a huge building owned by the Chois, there’s a specific room which was occupied by a certain Jung that looked disoriented.

“Jessica, are you even listening?” She heard a faint voice in the background but she didn’t paid attention to it.

“Yah!” Sunny, Jessica’s assistant, slammed the table and it didn’t failed to get the other one’s attention.

“Yes, I’m sorry, what was that?” Sunny looked at her boss sympathetically.

“I know you’re worried about Sooyoung but I’m pretty sure she’s doing her best there.” Sunny smiled to cheer her up and, surprisingly it did.

“I know Sunny-ah.” Suddenly, her smiled turned into a frown once again.

“But that’s not what you’re worried about, right?” Jessica tried to hide it but she just couldn’t. Sunny and Jessica share a strong friendship and they’re open about almost everything with each other. And Jessica’s relationship with Sooyoung is not an exception to that.

“Look, I think as long as you trust Sooyoung, nothing will keep you both apart.” Sunny went beside Jessica and leaned on the table.

“I know that. And I do trust her, it’s just that I don’t trust my cousin.” Jessica covered her face with her hands trying to calm herself down.

“You know, my dad always told me that the secret of a non-failing relationship is LRT. Love, respect, and trust.” Sunny removed Jessica’s hands on her face and continued to lecture her friend.

“You both make decisions and you expect the other one to respect it. Trust your partner that they’re doing that not to destroy your relationship but the opposite of it - to make it better.” Sunny tried to assure that Sooyoung won’t do something that will hurt both of them.

“I know. You’re right. I shouldn’t let my worries get the best of me. I should trust Sooyoung.” Jessica smiled almost forcing herself to do so.

“Thank you, Sunny-ah. I’m sorry for being such a slack today, I promise I’ll do better from now on.” Jessica convinced herself that everything is going to be alright but there’s still a hint in her guts that made her doubt it.

Tiffany and Sooyoung sat down facing each other on a restaurant, not a fancy one, near the building where they’re working for now. They’re halfway from finishing their lunch, oh except Sooyoung who already finished hers, but Seohyun is still out of sight. This made Sooyoung sighed.

This lunch could never be more awkward.  She thought for herself.

Sooyoung was engrossed in her own thoughts when she heard a light chuckle. She looked at Tiffany who happens to be the one who made the noise.

“You’re still a shikshin, Sooyoungie.” Tiffany said it sweetly that made Sooyoung smile.

“Yeah, I think I didn’t really change that much.” Sooyoung laughed faintly.

“You did.” Tiffany had no intention on killing the mood but that comment came out bitterly.

Sooyoung knows exactly what she meant.

“I’m proud of what you’ve become Sooyoungie.”

That nickname, Sooyoung thought as she stared at her eyes. God, those angelic eyes.

Tiffany was mesmerized with how Sooyoung locked eyes on her, she almost didn’t notice that Sooyoung slid her hand just to hold her hand.

“Uhm, I’m sorry to have kept you waiting.” Seohyun made her entrance breaking the stare between the two with Sooyoung quickly retrieving her hand from Tiffany’s.

“Oh, no. It’s okay. You could sit here and order now. Excuse me.” Sooyoung awkwardly raised her hand to call for a waiter to take Seohyun’s order.

She was partly scared of what would Seohyun might think because she caught them holding hands, and she was partly nervous of what might happen next. Tiffany, on the other hand, was quite the opposite of Sooyoung. She was convincing herself that Sooyoung feel something for her.

Whatever it is, I’m going to find out. Tiffany looked at Sooyoung fondly. Whatever it takes, I’m going to get you back, my love.

Hi, I'm sorry for the long hiatus. I almost abandoned this story, the readers, and my life as a writer and I know if I really did, I'll regret it for the rest of my life. I've been busy, you see, but I know that I don't have a valid excuse for disappearing like that, and again, I'm sorry.

Wow, it's been years already. Nevertheless, I couldn't believe you're still reading this and I'm forever grateful to that. Kamsahamnida everyone!!!
