“Wae?” Sehee whispered. She looked around to make sure no one was listening.

“Can we meet?”Jongjin asked.

“No…” she answered.

“Fine.”He scoffed.

“Don’t do that…” She said.

“Do what?”He asked coldly.

“I’m not pleased with this either. Be more understanding, will you?” She said. He sighed.

“Sorry,”He apologized. Sehee laughed.

“There’s nothing to be sorry about.” She said. “Let’s wait for another week, okay?”

“Hmm,”he said.

“Are you doing your aegyo right now?” Sehee asked and laughed.

“It didn’t work?”he asked.

“Yes, it does.” Sehee answered.

“If we don’t meet, I’m finding a new girlfriend.”

“I’m so insecure,” she said and Jongjin laughed. She really missed his laughter.

“Well, I’ll see you soon.”He said.

“Okay…”

“Yah, say it.”He said.

“Say what?”

“That you love me.”Sehee laughed at his words.

“No, I’ll just text you the word.” She said and he laughed.

“Bye…”

“Bye, jagi.” Sehee said and quickly hung up. She smiled to herself before putting on a poker face. She entered the practice room to take her backpack and left the building.

May 2003 – Lee Sooman’s office

“So, all five of you will be in a girl group. You have been selected from all trainees and I expect you to be the best.” Lee Sooman began. He smiled as he looked at the girls. Their parents had just signed the contract as all them are still minors.

 “You are aware that you’ve signed a thirteen years contract with us, don’t you?” he asked and the girls nodded. “Don’t complain if it’s too long. We want to promote you overseas too. Think of it. Thirteen years of promoting are such a short period. But, as long as you give us your best, we’ll make you shine. We’ll make the world remember your name.” He said and four of the girls smiled.

They can’t wait for that moment. They are all very excited. They are all very enthusiastic.

Everyone except her.

Sehee who had already signed the contract four years ago, knew exactly what the girls had signed up for. She looked at the smiling faces and thought, “You had sold your souls to the devil. It’s not the beginning. It’s the ending.”

Five months later

Soomi, Chaerin, Youngrae and Yumi were eating while Sehee was texting someone while waiting for their vocal teacher.

“Sehee yah, let’s eat.” Soomi called.

“No,” she said.

“You’re not dieting are you? Even Chaerin here is not dieting.” Soomi joked. Sehee ignored her and they all ate in silence. Once they cleaned up, they practiced while waiting for their teacher.

“Hey, I’m sorry for being late.” Shin Ae songsaengnim said. She entered with another girl around Soomi’s age.

“Do you guys know that there will be a new member joining you?” She asked with a bright smile. The girls looked perplexed and the girl that came in with songsaengnim bowed.

“Annyeong haseyo, Go Eunsung imnida.” She said shyly and bowed three times. Soomi turned to Sehee and she shook her head.

“How old are you?” Soomi asked, plastering a smile on her face.

“I’m seventeen years old.” She answered.

“Anyway, she’ll be your lead vocalist.” Shin Ae songsaengnim said.

“What?” Youngrae blurted out.

“Aigoo, don’t be so shocked. You can’t be the only one that sang the song.” The teacher laughed.

“For your songs, there will be some changes. Especially in Yumi and Youngrae.”

“What? Why me?” Yumi asked.

“Anyway, let’s go through the song first since Eunsung will need to go to dance practice with you all.”

“You already have your part isn’t it?” Jaehyun songsaengnim asked. Unlike Shin Ae songsaengnim, he wasn’t friendly and very serious.

“Ne,” Eunsung said and handed the lyric with her part highlighted.

“We’ll practice for this part first. Since everyone needed to change their places and all.”

After half an hour, they all perfected the part. The other girls went back to their dorm while Eunsung stayed to learn the dance steps.

At the dorm

“I still don’t understand why SM didn’t choose Dana or Lina unnie.” Youngrae said. “Wait, where will she sleep?”

“On the couch or on the floor.” Sehee said.

“Unnie, that’s so mean.” Yumi said laughing.

“I guess she’s sleeping with us.” Soomi said to Sehee.

“I don’t care where she sleeps as long as I have my bed.” Sehee said.

“She can sleep in the store too,” Chaerin suggested. Everyone looked at her. “But we have to clean it a little bit.” She said.

“Whatever.” Sehee said.

At night, Eunsung reached the dorm and was introduced to the member and the manager.

It was Sunday and everyone didn’t train on that day. Eunsung woke up to find her roommates were still sleeping. She went out to find Yumi watching the TV and she gave her a smile.

The unit was small, there were four rooms including the store. The rooms were small and there were only one bathroom. The kitchen was okay but still, the house was small.

She ate the breakfast and received a text message.

What are you doing? <3

She smiled and quickly replied.

I just ate. First day at the new dorm ^_^

-Eunsung

Can we meet tonight?

-Junyoung

Sure, where?

-Eunsung

Han Gang, 10pm

-Junyoung

We have to be at the dorm by 10pm.

-Eunsung

Then we’ll meet at 9.

-Junyoung

Okay, love you

“Unnie,” Yumi called her.

“Yes?”

“Why are you smiling?” She asked. “Were you texting with your boyfriend?” Yumi raised her eyebrow teasing her.

“No, I was not…” Eunsung said.

“You know that we can’t have a boyfriend right?” Yumi asked.

“Really?” Eunsung asked.

“Of course.” Yumi replied. “How long have you been training?”

“I trained at JYP before moving to SM. It has been…5 years.” Eunsung said.

“What is your position?” Eunsung asked her.

“I’m the lead dancer.”

“Wah, so you must be really good in dancing.” Eunsung said and Yumi laughed.

“Does everyone get along well here?” Eunsung asked. Yumi looked around and laughed.

“Not really.” She said. “We’re always at each other’s throats.” Yumi said and Eunsung’s eyes widened.

“Really?” Yumi nodded.

“But it was our dream that made us one. Because of our dream, we become one when we’re performing. So, unnie…you can’t be so shocked if they didn’t treat you like sister or anything. Especially since you’ve only known us for less than a day.” Yumi said.
