Early life

Sehee was born on November 2, 1984 in Qingdao, China. She has a younger brother, a stepsister and a stepmother. She studied in Beijing Dance Academy, a top dance school in China and was scouted while rehearsing for a performance in 1998. She changed her name to Korean name and applied for Korean citizenship in 1998 prior her debut.

Her birth mother, Lee Jin Hee passed away due to brain cancer on May 10, 1994. Sehee is the cousin of Baby VOX’s Kan Miyeon.

Career

Acting

Sehee was trained as a singer, dancer and actress when she joined SM Entertainment. She made her debut as an actress in a teenage drama, School 2 as Shin Hye Won. In 2000, she acted as Cho Young Ran alongside labelmate, Kim Min Jong. She started to get acknowledge with her acting in Summer Scent although it was a small role. She played the lead character in horror movie, Wishing Stairs and was praised for her acting skill. She acted alongside Park Han Byeol, her real life classmate and best friend.

In 2004, although she had debuted as a singer, she continued to accept role for dramas. She acted in a supernatural KBS series, Forbidden Love alongside Kim Tae Hee and Shinhwa’s Junjin.

Musical Career: Hourglass

Sehee debuted in a five-member girl group, Hourglass in 2004. She is the leader and the lead rapper in Hourglass.

Composing & Songwriting

Sehee and Soomi both wrote the lyric for Dear Mom and Sehee composed the song. It was included in Hourglass’s Second Album, Like This or Like That.
