Trust Fall II

"Make sure to check the ravines and trenches," was the last thing Jiyong said before the group divided up into pairs. Only this time, while Amber and Henry as well as Sehun and Lay remained the same, Gyuri was now with Suzy and Jiyong went off with Tyler Sinclaire — the sheriff who was with Sonya earlier that day.   "They were taking the Southern end of the pass," Lay spoke out loud as he glanced down at his map and then back up toward the direction everyone had headed in. "I think we should stick toward the South East side in case she drifted that way." Sehun was barely concentrating on what Lay was saying, instead going back to his thoughts of Min and how she looked at him just before they went their separate ways. For a moment there, he thought he saw something related to longing in her eyes when she looked at him and wondered if he actually saw that or if it was his own wishful thinking. "You listening?"   "Sure."   "Sehun, if you're not going to take this seriously-"   "Who says I'm not?" Sehun snapped as his attention centered on Lay. He hated how self-righteous the other was and how he so incorrectly assumed he was the only who gave a damn about Min. As if he and Min were something. They weren't . Min wasn't Lay's and he hated that he flaunted her around as if she was. "You think you're the only one who gives a about Min? Think again, Lay." All of Sehun's thoughts were plagued with Min since the moment he first laid eyes on her. His entire being was consumed by her and the thought of something possibly happening to her had him on edge. He was more than concerned. He was petrified.   Lay frowned at this. "You care? About Min?"   Sehun rolled his eyes and pushed passed him, purposefully shoving harshly against his shoulder as he did. "We're wasting time."   With a frustrated exhale, Lay followed suit with Sehun leading the way in the direction he had pointed out.   Walking ahead of Lay, Sehun had time to linger in his thoughts a little bit longer. At one point, way early on into Min's arrival, you can easily say that Sehun had seen her as nothing but someone to lust after. She was new and unattainable. A brand new challenge he wanted to conquer because that's exactly what Min provided him: a challenge — something he hadn't had in what seemed like ages. But Min proved to be different. Resilient and proud even after several months had passed. She hadn't given him the time of day because she knew she was better. She was nothing like the women he was used to. She was something else. Something special and that was slowly beginning to help open his eyes to see only her. To yearn for only her. He had even stopped meeting Suzy privately because of it. No matter what, he could never get Min off his mind.   He recalled how he would often stand in the hallway when no one was around, listening in to her play the piano during her free time, and always leaving before she did. The melody was always slow, soft and beautifully haunting. Something about the way she played told him that whatever problems she was dealing with had left her broken, lost and confused. He wanted to be the one to fix her. But he knew he couldn't have that option when he couldn't even fix his damn self.   But would she be better than me?   He frowned when he heard that familiar voice in his head, egging him on the way she always did. He hated her. Min was nothing like her. He was sure of it. She continued to prove it time and time again. She was nothing like her.   And what would she think of you if she ever found out about us?   About what we did?   Huh, Hunnie?   His breathing intensified, his jaw clenched tightly as he closed his eyes to try hard from going into a rage. Would Min hate him? Would she truly want nothing to do with him even more so than she does now?   "Hey, you okay?" Sehun hadn't noticed he had stopped walking until he heard Lay's voice coming from behind him.   He nodded, in a harsh breath to swallow down his pain. "Yeah. Let's just find Min and get out of here."   That was always the risk of allowing himself the freedom to let his mind wander.   - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -    One doesn't truly appreciate the essence of time until a person's perception of it is compromised. Without a sense of time, the space around said person can become warped and unrecognizable as was the case with Min as she opened her eyes after an unknown amount of time to be met with an all-consuming type of darkness.   Groaning aloud, Min placed her hands palms down and pushed up from the ground. "," she hissed out in pain as the tear in her leg and sprain of her wrist left her incapacitated. She bit back her tears and opted to shift onto her back in order to keep her face from falling into the muddy water that had formed from the continuous rain that hadn't stopped pouring down on her.   Using her elbows and her uninjured leg, Min managed to drag herself backwards until she was able to adjust herself and leaned up against the side of the mountain  in an  upright sitting position.   Adrenaline was the first thing she felt pumping through her veins before it shifted into an unnerving sense of panic and fear. She was in the cold. She was in the dark. She was lost. She was alone.    That queasy feeling bubbling up in the pit of her stomach had her feeling sick — the nausea obviously a side-effect from the sudden decrease of adrenaline.   She took a minute to close her eyes, catch a breath and compose herself. She couldn't afford to be sick at the moment and panic her life away, no matter how easy it was to do.   "Relax, Min," she told herself with a shaky breath. "You need to relax." Min continued to repeat this to herself like a mantra before she finally worked up the courage to open her eyes again.   She could still feel the immobilizing pain from the injuries she sustained but at least now she didn't feel like hurling anymore. And that was always a good thing. She hated vomiting as much as she hated the dark.   But , now that she took a moment to actually evaluate her surroundings, another wave of panic began rising from her chest again.    "It's so ing dark." Way too ing dark.   She dreaded the dark and she dreaded enclosed spaces. This trench, as deep as it was, was much too narrow and damn near suffocating.   She should've been used to this though. She had several weeks of experience living on the streets of LA, that was true, but she had grown accustomed to the warmth and spiritual freedom she felt in the Falls. And now that she was forced back into a helpless situation, those thoughts that once haunted her constantly in the past, were difficult to prevent from coming forward.    Thunder clapped loudly in the distance, the deafening sound making her jump in fear. The temperature was dropping and it didn't look like the rain would lessen anytime soon. At this point all hope seemed to be slipping away.   Growing a little bolder and taking another look around, Min noticed something strange about about the mud that was barely a few feet away from her. Leaning forward and so that most of her weight was on her good leg, Min reached down to the strange object that was sticking out from the puddle.   Like a breath of relief, Min's entire body relaxed when she held onto her working, obviously weather proof, flashlight that must've fallen down with her. Now she didn't have to just lay there quivering in the dark anymore. That was one problem solved. Now to not think about her soaked clothing, narrow spaces, near freezing temperatures, injuries and all-around hopeless situation.   "They'll come find you," she assured herself softly, trying to take deep, calming breaths. "Someone will. I'm sure of it."   Lay would. She knew that for a fact, but even thinking that, a pair of hazel-green eyes couldn't keep from flashing in her mind.   If Min was so set on Lay, why even now, couldn't she keep her mind off Sehun?   Why did she want him to be the one to find her instead?   - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -    "She's not there either," Lay voiced in exasperation as he walked out of a small cave they had come across on their search for Min.    Another hour had lapsed and still no sign of Min. The sky had darkened even more so and despite the rain showers letting up just a little, the temperature was still dropping. The boys now had their raincoats on and flashlights out as they made sure no crack or crevice went unchecked.   "Stop," Sehun warned with a glare aimed at Lay.   Lay's eyes narrowed in response, "Stop, what?"   "Stop looking as if we'll never find her. We're going to find her." I'm gonna find her, is what Sehun actually wanted to say. Because he was determined to do so, and even if Lay gave up, that didn't mean he would. He was prepared to search all night until morning if it meant finding her.   "Can you blame me? It's nine o'clock at night. It's getting late, Sehun. It'll only get darker, the weather is turning into absolute and we still have no clue where she headed off to. Min can be anywhere!"   "So you're just planning on giving up?" Sehun gritted, approaching Lay in a threatening manner.   "Of course not," Lay retaliated with just as much hostility in his stance and tone. "I care about Min. Way more than you do-"   Sehun scoffed, his hazel-green eyes blazing. "I highly doubt that."   Something occurred to Lay suddenly, right at that instance. The thought struck a chord with him and the words couldn't help but pour out from him on their own. "What is it with you?" he sounded suspicious, accusing almost. "Do you have a thing for Min?"   He saw the way Sehun shifted slightly, a light appearing in his eyes. He didn't hesitate to answer back, "What if I do?"   He felt his stomach drop, his chest tighten and anger flow through his veins, making him clench his hands close tightly at his sides to prevent from punching the taller one. "She's out of your league."   "But she's in yours?" Sehun let out a snort at Lay's arrogance. The little was basically implying that out of the two, only he was good enough for Min and from where he stood that wasn't the case at all. "Listen, from where I stand, you and I are on equal playing field. I have just as much of a chance as you. Maybe even more."   Lay's expression darkened. "What do you mean by that?"   "I mean that Min doesn't exactly hate me." He kissed her back that day. He still remembers it as clearly as if it had just happened the day before. Min kissed him back and he had held onto that fact like a lifeline. Not to mention that look she had given him. Those gorgeous brown eyes expressing what words didn't need to.   "She doesn't exactly like you, either," Lay quickly retorted, his impulses getting the best of him. If there was one person that could get under his skin, it was most definitely Sehun, especially in regards to Min. For whatever reason, he didn't like the tone in which he said that. The confident tone which implied that what he was saying could be true. He doesn't know much about Min and Sehun's interactions but there was a possibility he could be right, even if he wanted to believe he was wrong.   Sehun's expression turned smug, his hazel-green eyes gleaming under the moonlight. "That's all I need to work with."   "Min is mine," Lay emphasized his words harshly, squaring his shoulders in a threatening manner.    But at seeing his response, Sehun couldn't help the smirk from forming on his face. "Min is free-game until she says she's not. And from what I recall you two aren't exactly exclusive." He liked that he could get under the calm Lay's skin. Especially when it came to Min. It only showed how unsure he was of his position in her heart. It also
