  Lay tucked his arm behind his head and continued to look up at the ceiling from where he laid on his bed. He couldn't get his mind off the new girl. He looked at the clock and it was already midnight. He would be seeing her again in six hours.   What is it about her? He wondered as he recalled the short girl with the long, dark layered hair and choppy fringe that covered her brows and fell just above her large, almond shaped, chocolate brown eyes. It gave her a charismatic appeal that he found charming, even though her facial features made her seem childish. And then there was her incredible piano playing. There was a sadness to it, that much was clear and he wanted to uncover the reason behind such sadness in such an unsuspecting person.   She wasn't like him. She was nothing like him. When he first arrived, Lay was mess. Being there for nearly six months already, it was only recently that he began healing. But scars don't always fade away and no amount of soap was enough to scrub away the memories of his past. But he fight against it. He deserve it after all. He deserved being haunted by what he had done. Would she understand if she found out what he had done? He sighed in frustration, turning onto his side.   How did someone like her end up here anyway? He wondered.   There was a mysterious air surrounding her. One he found interesting. It was strange how she had managed to capture his attention the moment he saw her walking through the lawn the day before. Surely he would learn more about her in the days to come.   - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -    It was six in the morning when Min woke up. It wasn't that big of a deal for her. She had managed to get a good seven hours of sleep the night before which was better in comparison to her sleepless nights when she lived on the streets.   To Amber and Suzy's surprise Min had even managed to get dressed and ready before them. They watched her in awe as she grabbed her backpack and headed out without a word.   "Oh God. Is she gonna be a ?" Suzy sneered, with an annoyed expression after watching the small girl close the door behind her.   Amber laughed and rolled her eyes. "Yeah, because Lord knows we need another one of those around here."   Suzy's eyes narrowed. "Bite me."   "Don't tempt me, Suzy," Amber's voice became serious as she filled her pack. "Just back off, mind your own business and I guarantee there won't be any problems."   Suzy scoffed. "Whatever. Just tell her not to get in my way." But before she could add anything else, Amber was already out the door. She watched, wide-eyed and blew her bangs up in frustration. This was the last thing she wanted. She didn't need another female addition to the group, especially if it would only bring her problems.   Outside, Min was already at one of the picnic tables in the lawn, adjusting her bag. She huddled into her jacket, the morning mountain air was a lot colder then she expected, but the sun was lifting, breaking through one of the mountain peeks in the distance.   September back in California, especially in the city, wasn't much of a big deal. But here, so close to nature, Min could vividly see just how much the seasons influenced the scenery. The way the sun painted fiery streaks of varying gold, orange and red hues was breathtaking. It was as if the sky was on fire. And the oncoming autumn season was making its mark by the warm colored leaves of the trees, a sign the winter was nearing.    "Wow. You're early," She heard, before turning around to see Henry, the blonde, appear from where the dorms were.   She gave a simple nod and continued to adjust her bag, making him a brow at her responsive but quiet nature.   "You're not much of a talker are you?" He added and in his eyes she could see a humbleness she didn't expect from the people there.   "Sorry," It was all she could bring herself to say, not wanting to be a complete to the seemingly nice boy, and unexpectedly he returned a grateful smile.   "No need."   Behind him, she could see Amber come into view, which made her sigh in relief. She would have to remember to wait for her next time in order to prevent another awkward moment. Following close behind was Lay and then Suzy and Sehun. And at the same time Gyuri and Jiyong appeared as well.   Now gathered around the table, Jiyong made sure to go down the checklist of things that they had to have packed up and once everything was organized and ready, the assignments began. "Okay, so now that everyone's here and we all have everything we need, Gyuri is going to begin to assign hiking partners. It's nothing too out of this world, just a hike up and down the pass but because we have someone new who isn't used to it, we're going to take things a little slower than usual."   "Alright everyone, I'm going to splitting you up into pairs. On female and one male. They go as followed. First up, Suzy and Sehun," Gyuri called the first pair out and it was here that Min noticed just how aloof Sehun actually was, while Suzy was her usual overly peppy self. It was a mystery to her whether the two were actually going out or not, but she shrugged it off. It was none of her business, nor did she really care.   "Next, Amber and Henry," Now those two were compatible. Like two peas in a pod, with similar hair and even similar personalities. It didn't surprise Min when she saw how comfortable they were around one another, in fact, they seemed too comfortable. But for what Min assumed to be very different reasons. In the end, she was a girl and she could read something in Amber's eyes that she knew no one else could. She would have to ask her later.   "And finally, Min and Lay."
