Jiyoung was sitting in her afternoon class, trying hard not to fall asleep and listening to the professor who was giving a monotonic speech about different factors that influenced the growth of the economy. Sometimes she asked herself why she accepted her parents' request to study Business Administration when she wasn't the least bit interested in it. If it weren't for her parents she would probably study Music or Art, things she liked to do and she was actually quite talented at but as the only child in her family she practically had no other choice than to fulfill her parents' wishes.

The lecture hall was not that occupied but it was typical for afternoon classes. Most students attended classes in the morning mainly because they had no motivation to come in the afternoon or, truth to be told, just had better things to do over the day. Jiyoung was too much of a morning grouch so it was probably the best for her and her productivity when she attended her classes well rested and energetic.

But strangely, after her last encounter with Gyuri and the failed confession two days ago she couldn't manage to get enough hours of decent sleep that resulted in her sleepiness during her classes.

Half an hour later the professor was finally done with his speech and ended this lecture. With a relieved sigh, Jiyoung packed up all her stuff and exited the lecture hall. She was surprised when she saw Gyuri leaning on the wall beside the door.

"Unnie, what are you doing here?"

"Obviously waiting for you. And how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me 'unnie'? I know you're two years younger but I asked you to just call me Gyuri, we're best friends."

"I'm sorry un-...Gyuri. Now, why did you wait for me?"

"I just wanted to see you." Gyuri forced a smile but Jiyoung knew instantly that something was not okay.

"What's wrong?"

"Can we talk somewhere else?"

With linked arms, they were walking through a park nearby the university. Unlike two days ago when it was raining unceasingly, the weather was quite pleasant. A few sun rays fought their way through the cloudy sky, a warm breeze tickled softly the skin of their faces and tousled their hair.

Jiyoung waited patiently for Gyuri to start talking. She knew that something bad happened but didn't want to pressure her best friend. If Gyuri wanted to talk, she eventually would.

"My mother...she was admitted to hospital today."

"What happened?"

"She got some new medication yesterday and it seemed like her body didn't take them well. Her condition worsened and I had to call the ambulance today."

Jiyoung was at loss for words so she just gave a comforting hug. Both of them didn't need any words, they understood each other perfectly well through sincere gestures. It was times like these when Gyuri was happy to have a friend like Jiyoung.

"I'm sure she'll get better soon, she's in good hands now."

"I know it sounds strange but...it's kind of weird being home alone now that my mother is in hospital. I'm not used to sleep all by myself."

"Do you want to sleep over at my house? I mean, just for the time your mum is in hospital. I'm sure my parents are okay with that."

"Really? If it doesn't burden you..."

"Don't say something like that! I promised I'm always there when you need me and this is the case."

"Thank you Jiyoung-ah. I don't know what I would do without you."

Gyuri's words made Jiyoung's heart flutter in joy but she also knew that it was just meant in a friendly way. They were friends. Nothing more, nothing less.

After packing some things up at Gyuri's place, they went straight to Jiyoung's house where her parents already were awaiting her.

"Kang Jiyoung, where have you been? You promised to come home straight after your class! Did you forget that we wanted to visit your grandma?" her mother asked angrily.

"I'm sorry mum but something important came up..."

"You could have at least called us!"

"Mrs. Kang, please don't be angry at Jiyoung. It was my fault. My mother was admitted to hospital today and I just needed someone to talk with so I asked Jiyoung to stay with me. I'm sorry Mrs. Kang." Gyuri explained because she didn't want Jiyoung to be in trouble.

"Oh, sorry to hear that Gyuri. I hope she gets well soon. Jiyoung-ah, sorry for shouting at you, I didn't know." Mrs. Kang apologized.

"It's alright mum. Is it okay if Gyuri sleeps over? I don't want her to be home alone."

"Of course! Gyuri, please make yourself comfortable."

"Thank you Mrs. Kang."

Jiyoung took Gyuri's hand and together they went upstairs to her room.

"I'm sorry for the scene my mum caused...I'm already 19 but she still treats me like a little child."

"Don't be sorry, it was my fault. And mothers are always like that." Gyuri laughed.

"I know, I just wish she would lay it down with the overreaction and wait for an explanation first before screaming at me. Especially when friends are coming over." Jiyoung sighed.

Gyuri put down her bag and looked at Jiyoung.

"What are we going to do now?"

"How about we eat something? I'm hungry after sitting for hours in my boring classes." Jiyoung suggested.

"Sounds good, I actually didn't eat anything today because of all that stress."

Even though Jiyoung was the younger one, she was always worried about Gyuri. Her friend already looked so thin and fragile because she probably didn't eat regularly and paid more attention to the well-being of her mother rather than her own. The last thing Jiyoung wanted was her friend also getting admitted to hospital.

They went downstairs to the kitchen and looked for something to eat but there wasn't anything cooked.

"Hmm, seems like my mum didn't have the time to cook something. Let's make some ramyeon, shall we?"

"Sure."

Jiyoung grabbed some vegetables and started to cut them after washing and peeling them while Gyuri set up the pot with water and grabbed some packages of ramyeon from the storage.

After the water started to boil, Jiyoung put all the vegetables and ramyeon in the pot and added some spices and chili paste. Soon everything was done and they sat down at the table, sharing their freshly cooked food.

"Wow, it tastes really good!" Gyuri complimented and Jiyoung couldn't help but blush a bit.

"Thanks. My mum taught me how to spice the food properly, it's some kind of family recipe."

After they were done with eating and cleaning up the mess, they went back upstairs to Jiyoung's room. It was already 7pm, both of them were sitting on Jiyoung's bed, thinking about what they could do for the rest of the evening.

"We could do a movie night. Do you have any classes tomorrow?" Jiyoung asked.

"No, I took some days off because of my mother. What about you?"

"I'm not going tomorrow, totally not in the mood for that. Besides, I have a friend who needs to be taken care of." Gyuri smiled instantly.

"You're too cute, Jiyoung-ah." Again, Gyuri's words made Jiyoung blush madly.

"Well, then it's decided. We're doing a movie night!"

Jiyoung set up everything while Gyuri made herself comfortable on Jiyoung's queen-sized bed.

"I have three movies, you choose: A Company Man, Twilight or my favourite movie Kill Bill." Gyuri pondered for a moment.

"Let's watch Twilight, I heard that Jacob guy is quite the y man." Jiyoung couldn't help but snort on the inside.

"As you wish." It was not what Jiyoung actually had planned; she wanted to use the opportunity to get closer with Gyuri, or rather more intimate, but now everything Gyuri would do is drooling over some good looking actor. Well, it was her own fault for making this suggestion in the first place.

Reluctantly, Jiyoung put on the DVD and made herself comfortable beside Gyuri on the bed. It was quite awkward seeing her crush spazzing like mad over that Jacob guy while the movie was running. Everything she could do was staring at the TV, hoping that it was over soon and wishing that Gyuri would spazz over her one day.

"Uhh yeah, Jiyoung-ah I wanted to ask you something." Jiyoung looked at Gyuri, surprised by the sudden request.

"What is it? Do you want me to turn off the movie?" Gyuri stared at her in bewilderment.

"What? Nooo! The movie is good and it isn't even over...to be honest I just like Jacob but still...I wanted to ask you where I'm going to sleep."

"Oh yeah, I didn't think about this. Uhm..."

"Well, if you're okay with it we can sleep together in your bed." Gyuri suggested.

Say what?! Jiyoung, together with her crush, in one freaking bed! Actually it was total common thing in Korea for two girls to sleep in one bed but it was a big deal for Jiyoung nonetheless.

"Uhm, it's okay I guess...not a big deal, hehehe." Jiyoung giggled nervously, trying to hide her tension.

"Great....let's finish the movie and then we'll get some sleep, it was an exhausting day." Jiyoung just nodded and they continued to watch Twilight.

The movie was almost over but Gyuri already fell asleep. When Jiyoung noticed, she couldn't help but chuckle.

Well, seems like Jacob wasn't y enough to keep her awake.

She pulled up the covers so Gyuri was properly tucked in and watched her for a while.

She looks so cute when she sleeps. And her lips...they look so kissable...

Jiyoung leaned in slowly, careful not to wake Gyuri up.

"You're so beautiful..." she whispered, softly caressing Gyuri's cheek. Jiyoung yearned to kiss these tantalizing lips but she didn't want to take advantage of her peacefully sleeping friend, so she just planted a gentle kiss on her cheek.

“Sleep well my love.” Jiyoung whispered again. Now she could sleep in peace.
