Prologue

Life à la Mode

Once a month, whenever their insanely tight schedules loosened up a bit and allowed them the rare luxury of a day-off, they would meet up to have lunch at any random restaurant that caught their interest, but when it came to desserts, they only had one go-to place: Serendipity 3, a quaint, little restaurant down at 60th street that was almost impossible to get into without making a reservation.

But they were an exception.

That particular Saturday was a perfect example. Normally, all three of them would be sauntering into the excessively eclectic yet somehow cozy place and would immediately be led by one of the waiters to their usual table right beside the gigantic clock, but that day, only 2/3 of the highly notorious Golden Trio were present.

Still, in their monochrome ensemble straight from Marc Jacobs' Spring/Summer 2013 collection - a personal favorite of theirs, their presence demanded attention...

….Attention that was surely given to them for as soon as they stepped into the threshold, looking every bit like the international supermodels they were, all eyes were on them. The quiet buzz that surrounded the place prior to their arrival ground into a complete halt, spoons frozen mid-raise, and mouths hung open. It would've been one hell of comical moment if they weren't already so used to getting the same reaction from people everywhere they went.

The waiter who welcomed them (surprisingly the first to get over the stupor that their presence caused), a 20-something guy that went by the name of Matt, pulled out their chairs for them and politely waited until they were settled, and with a huge smile on his face, asked, "The usual, I presume?"

The usual was the only dessert that they allowed themselves to fully indulge in without feeling even the littlest amount of guilt afterwards. In their line of work, it was imperative that they maintained their gorgeous physiques more than anything, and gaining weight was equivalent to career suicide. They were willing to risk that for this heavenly dessert, though.

Seeing as the younger one was too busy furiously typing a message into his iPhone to bother responding to the friendly waiter, the other, a very pretty and deceptively fragile-looking young man with a face so youthful it was hard to believe he was actually the eldest, replied, "Yes, please," complete with an angelic smile that made half of the restaurant's patrons, including the staff, sigh in absolute bedazzlement.

With a stiff nod, the waiter (who was trying his best to hide his growing interest down south that was undeniably being caused by the ethereal creature still smiling at him) quickly his heel to make a beeline towards the kitchens. The slight difficulty in his stride didn't go unnoticed by the two, though, and they shared an amused look before shaking their heads in pity.

"That's the second one today," remarked the slightly taller but younger one as he finally placed his mobile phone down onto the table and brought his focus to his companion. Unlike the table's other occupant, whose beauty was characterized by bright, twinkling doe eyes and warm sunshine smiles, this one possessed a more silent, reserved type of beauty; the kind that didn't just readily give his smile to everyone. It made him look like he was either bored or couldn't be bothered to give a about the world more than 90% of the time, though. Or, as his fellow model/ friend preferred to describe it, constipated.

A light chuckle, which, again, caught the attention of some of the tables nearest to theirs, bubbled out of the honey blonde haired young man. "I didn't know we were keeping count," he said, although the mischief that glinted in his sparkling amber eyes suggested otherwise.

He received an exaggerated eye-roll in response. "Please, Lu. You delight causing these men to pop boners in the most inconvenient time possible. Remember what you did to Taemin's boyfriend during the charity gala two months ago? They almost broke up because of you."

The incredibly youthful 23-year-old model had enough decency to look a tad guilty at the reminder. Taemin, a fellow model at their agency, and his soccer star boyfriend had been together for two years, after all. Anyone would feel like for being the cause of such a beautiful relationship flat lining.

"Did Taem even know that it was me?" Luhan, or Xiao Lu as his closest friends endearingly nicknamed him as, asked in a small voice, his bottom lip jutting out into a pout.

His younger companion shrugged. "I don't know. But I'm pretty sure he had his suspicions, since Minho kept glancing in your general direction. You're lucky Taemin isn't the scandalous type."

"Hey, it could've been anyone within my immediate vicinity."

"You were the only one standing by the desserts table."

Luhan puffed up his cheeks - an action which made him look even younger than he already does, and would give even the most adorable toddlers a run for their money.

He kept his trademark blow fish face on for a few more seconds, in which neither of the two supermodel BFFs spoke, before deflating his cheeks back to their original form.

He then crossed his legs under the table and donned a serious mien, a complete 180 from his childish facade just a moment ago. "And where, pray tell, were you during all this? I sure don't recall you being near enough to witness everything," he said, his cute button nose up in the air in a haughty manner, which only gained him an amused chortle from the other.

"Just because you couldn't see me doesn't mean that I wasn't there," was all the younger said, adding a triumphant smirk just to further rile the other up.

Luhan grumbled something unintelligible, clearly displeased that the cheeky brat had managed to one-up him yet again, before finally saying, "Fine. So I might've lost control of myself a bit..." Luhan trailed off and sniffed, wiping the side of his mouth as if to cover up the painfully obvious understatement.

"A bit? I'm sorry, but from where I was standing, it looked more like you couldn't rein in your raging whoremones yet again."

Luhan chose to ignore the insult. "Oh, come on, Sehun. You can't honestly tell me you haven't behaved the same way around a fine piece of specimen before."

"I haven't," was Sehun's simple, immediate, retort; face completely straight.

Luhan frowned but voiced no further argument, knowing full well the younger model was telling the truth. Come to think of it, Luhan couldn't recall ever seeing his best friend openly flirt with any random attractive stranger in public even once in all their years of friendship. A lot of people, male and female alike, flirt with (and even proposition) Sehun on a regular basis, but he never encouraged them, let alone actually flirt back. If he didn't know better, Luhan would think the younger model was a first class prude.

But he did know better, and he knew for a fact that Sehun had lost his ity to his first boyfriend, a y French Calvin Klein underwear model that Luhan couldn’t remember the name of (selective memory and all). They ended their six-month affair after the New Year’s when the mothering douchebag decided that Sehun didn’t put out enough to satisfy his insatiable drive. Luhan socked the bastard hard in the face as a farewell present in behalf of his best friend.

"And need I remind you that you're not single and haven't been so for going on one year now?" Sehun continued, going into full-on lecture mode. Despite being the youngest in their little clique at only 20, Sehun was the most mature and considered it his responsibility to look after the other two, who rarely ever acted their age.

"And your point is?"

Sehun blinked rapidly in disbelief, taken aback by the other's nonchalance and casual approach to his own relationship. "Wow, I don't know. Stop cheating on your boyfriend for once?"

Luhan raised a perfectly sculpted eyebrow. "You know Taecyeon and I are not exclusive to each other. He certainly goes around so why the hell shouldn't I?"

It took a moment for Sehun to absorb what he'd just been told, during which Luhan simply admired his perfectly manicured black velvet nails; a perfect contrast to his smooth, alabaster skin. He made a mental note to try the caviar ones on his next salon appointment.

After what felt like an eternity, Sehun finally asked, "Why am I only finding out about this now?" as he narrowed his eyes at the older model.

Luhan widened his own pretty peepers in mock surprise. "Oh, really? Gee. You mean you didn't know? Well, now you do." He then allowed his gaze to roam around; from the colorful stained glass chandelier above them, to the various trinkets, souvenirs, and whatnot displayed by the restaurant’s entrance, so he didn't have to look at his best friend.

Said best friend had his arms crossed, flawless face set in a manner which clearly expressed his apparent disapproval of his very recent discovery regarding the older model's love life.

"Luhan."

Sehun was purposefully ignored, so he repeated himself, louder and firmer this time, “Luhan.”

Finally, Luhan sighed resignedly, bringing his eyes back to the mildly irate younger male across the table. He knew he had a lot of explaining to do, if the tone Sehun just said his name with was anything to go by. Why did he ever think Sehun would react kindly to his revelation? Luhan mentally facepalmed himself.

"Alright, I'm sorry. I guess I just sort of assumed that you knew," was his weak argument, drawing a judgmental look from the teen.

"Bull.” Luhan winced. Sehun cussing occurred rarer than a desert rain or a sunny day in Britain. When the younger resorted to using foul words, he really was beyond upset.

“When did this start? I mean, when you two first began dating I was under the impression that you were so into with him. Heck, all you ever talked about was Taecyeon this, Taecyeon that; Taecyeon is such a gentleman, Taecyeon is so hot. You even said so yourself that he was The One. And now you’re telling me that you’re not exclusive? What the hell happened? And why didn’t you think of telling me this sooner?” The younger male was unrelenting; firing pointed question after pointed question, elegant eyebrows knitted in a mixture of anger and concern. It was more of the former, actually.

Just as Luhan opened his mouth to pacify his best friend, Sehun's phone buzzed with a new message alert, thus saving (for the meantime) him from being further subjected to Sehun's own brand of interrogation (which may or may not include mental and emotional torture, blackmail, manipulation, and wardrobe threats). Luhan was most terrified of the latter. His wardrobe was innocent and did not deserve to bear the brunt of Sehun’s wrath. Not to mention cost a fortune.

Sehun dragged his thumb across the screen to unlock the device and quickly punched in the pass code, but not before shooting Luhan a look which clearly said that they were far from done, causing the older to let out a defeated groan.

"It's from Chanyeol," he said upon seeing the name of the sender.

Luhan perked up immediately, glad for the opportunity to divert the topic. "Oh? So what does our lovely, blushing bride say?"

Park Chanyeol, or Yeollie as everyone fondly referred to him as, was the missing 1/3 of their Glam Squad who also happened to be engaged to the youngest, and arguably the hottest, multi-billionaire in the world today. Luhan couldn't help but resent him just a teensy bit for that, because how the hell did sweet, innocent, naïve Chanyeollie even manage to land himself the catch of the century? Well, the guy was actually the one who pursued Chanyeol, and Luhan himself was there when the couple first met at a private party hosted by the CEO of their modeling agency almost five months ago, but still. It was a bit unfair since Luhan had always been the one who wanted to become a (preferably young and hot) billionaire's trophy wife.

'Oh, well. We can't always get what we want', he thought with a shrug.

Sehun tapped the messaging icon once and was brought to the page where their conversations were, scrunching his eyebrows together at the speech bubble containing Chanyeol's latest message. As usual, it was filled with an absolutely unnecessary amount of emoticons, characteristic of their ever-cheerful friend. Sehun grimaced in distaste. Out of the three of them, he was the least fond of using emoticons, and hardly ever utilized them other than to express disgust, indifference, or anger.

Yeolliepop~ <3 (Chanyeol himself was the one who saved his number on Sehun's phone, hence the name)

Hey guys~! ^^ I'm now on my way lyk 5mins away.
Stupid fiancé didn't want 2 let me go and had 2 escape. Sorry~ :(
But I'll b der soon so dun miss me 2 much. Love u~
;) :) :D ✻ღϠ₡ღ✻ ^^ ^^ ^^ :* :* :*

Sehun could feel a headache coming on, thanks to the obnoxious message, and instead of answering, slid his phone over to Luhan so the other could read it himself.

Luhan giggled as soon as he saw the message, and took it upon himself to reply.

Ok, take care. But you should probably
cut down the emoticons, Yeollie.
Sehunnie is not amused. – Lu :*

He hit send and handed the mobile device back to Sehun.

Not a minute passed before the phone buzzed again, and when Sehun opened the message, nothing but emoticons greeted him, ranging from food, animals, smileys, to a variety of hearts.

"What an idiot," he deadpanned, and Luhan didn't have to see to know what the message contained.

Sehun slammed his phone face down onto the table. “Seriously, why am I even friends with you guys? Am I subconsciously masochistic or something? Or did I commit a terrible, unforgivable sin in my previous life and am now being punished for it?”

Luhan only giggled at his best friend’s misery, the sadistic little that he was. “You love us.”

Just then, his own iPhone buzzed with a message from none other than their resident mischievous little imp.

Dobbyeollie xD (Again, it was Chanyeol who saved his own number in Luhan's phone)

Tell Sehunnie I love him. LOL!
And I'm almost there. :DDD
Getting off the car now, actually. See ya~! :3

Luhan looked up just in time to see a slightly flushed but brilliantly smiling Chanyeol walk into the restaurant; his long, light auburn hair up in a semi-messy sock bun with some loose strands falling on the sides of his face. He had absolutely no makeup on and yet still looked so effortlessly pretty -something both Luhan and Sehun had always secretly envied the other for. Chanyeol hardly ever fussed about his appearance outside of a job, opting to look as natural as possible during their days off. And while the other two were all haute couture from head to toe, he was considerably more laid back, wearing only a white and navy blue striped off-the-shoulder long-sleeved top, and black skinny jeans. On his feet was a well worn pair of black Doc Martens. He looked no different from the average New Yorker, but what set him apart, other than the knowledge that he was actually an internationally-renowned supermodel, was the ridiculously huge rock sitting comfortably on his left ring finger - a 6-carat cushion cut vivid blue diamond ring with pink diamonds on both sides that weigh a carat each and set on a platinum band. It served its purpose of telling everyone that the gorgeous model was officially off the market, but more importantly, it said a lot about the man he was going to marry. There weren't too many people on the planet that could afford to buy a $10 million engagement ring.

Chanyeol waved animatedly when he spotted his friends, grayish hazel eyes lighting up as they zeroed in on the circular table where the other two sat waiting for him with smiles on their faces.

And once again, Serendipity 3's customers had to take a pause from whatever they were doing to watch Chanyeol make his way over to where his two BFFs were, partly because he was a supermodel, but mostly because he was the fiancé of none other than Chinese-Canadian multi-billionaire Kris Wu Yifan.

A/N: So there goes the prologue. I don't even know how it ended up like that but it just sort of wrote itself. I was merely the fingers doing the typing because this fic has a life of its own. (; ̄ェ ̄)

Don't even ask me why Luhan is with Taecyeon because IDK. -_- All I can remember is that I was trying to think of a really hot stud to (temporarily) pair him up with, and somehow the first person that came to mind was Taecyeon. And thus gave birth to a new crack pairing. OTL And Sehun with that random nameless French model. I told you the story was writing itself. *facepalm*

You might be wondering why I gave Luhan amber eyes, or Chanyeol grayish hazel ones. They're not wearing color contacts, if that's what you're thinking. They're actually of mixed parentage, including Sehun. There will be more regarding that in the future.

Anyways, that gorgeous blue diamond ring above is what I described as Chanyeol's engagement ring. It does exist, and it was sold for $10 million at an auction to an anonymous bidder.

Oh, and Hunhanyeol's favorite dessert is Frrrozen Hot Chocolate. It's Serendipity 3's specialty, I guess you could say. :)

I have no idea when the next chapter will be up because it has yet to be written (LOL), but I will work on it as soon as I find the time. (^ω^)

I might pick this up again, but I'm making no promises. I'll be more candid about the things that happened over the last 2 years IF I decide to continue where I left off. It's pretty much 50/50 at this moment. The only thing that I can tell you for sure is that Chapter 11 exists in my drafts.
