Romance Is [Part 2]

To Whom It May Concern

A/N: Sorry this took longer than expected! I've been really sad and upset the past two weeks since my rabbit died. I'm tyring to get back on track school and fic wise and hopefully I'll get another update to you, whether it be this story or another one, soon enough. Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy this chapter!

---

It was 12PM when Sunny awoketo find a familiar weight on her body.

“Sica?” she grumbled, wondering how it could be possible that the other girl was awake before her. She was probably still dreaming.

“See, I told you we should’ve done that first,” a voice who wasn’t Jessica spoke. No, Sunny couldn’t have possible guessed wrong. That had to be Jessica sitting on her right now.

“Fany unnie, look how upset she looks! I knew we should’ve just waited.”

There’s another one. Was that maknae?

“Seohyun dear, if we waited any longer I would’ve fallen asleep.”

Taeyeon?

“What the hell are you all doing in my room?” Sunny groaned, finally pushing Jessica’s weight off herself. As much as she loved her dear friends, she loved being alone when sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Possibly until the late afternoon if she could help it.

“Well, we were waiting for the juicy details!” Tiffany squealed before jumping onto the bed, adding more weight to the mattress and forcing Sunny’s body to shift slightly. “Really, I’m appalled that you didn’t call us first.”

“Maybe I didn’t call because I’m sleeping,” Sunny retorted, shoving her head under her pillow hoping her friends would give up and go away. They were so ridiculous sometimes. Don’t they know how much she needed her sleep? After pulling a few all-nighters on some assignments that week, catching up on sleep was somewhat essential.

Maybe she shouldn’t have stayed out so late with Sooyoung.

“Come on, Soonkyu,” Taeyeon nudged this time, poking Sunny’s body in two second intervals. “Sooyoung sprang up out of bed this morning to go tell Yoona about their date. How come you don’t have the same excitement?”

This caught Sunny’s attention.

She turned over, albeit very slowly. It took all of her energy to turn then the last ounce of it to open her eyes to face her annoying friends. Was Sooyoung really that excited about their date? If she remembered clearly from their numerous discussions the night before, the tall girl enjoyed sleeping in until the afternoon on Sundays.

“Oh no, did it not go well for you?” Seohyun asked concerned, finally joining the rest of her unnies by sitting on the edge of the bed.

Sunny shook her head, no of course it went well for her.

“I had a great time it’s just,” she raised a brow as she took in the anticipating faces of her friends. “I just don’t get what the big deal is? I mean, really? Waking me up and all of you gathering in my room? It was just a date.”

All four girls shook their head in unison.

“That’s where you’re wrong,” Jessica declared, poking Sunny square on the nose, “It’s not just a date Sunny, it’s your first date ever. And so, we need clear details.” She knows the small girl is aware of the importance of that event. She knows that the girls had a meeting the night before talking about what could’ve been happening the whole time.

And she was fully aware when she got home that Jessica was waiting on the couch for her, but said nothing but a good night.

Sunny crinkled her nose, “Seohyun hasn’t had a date yet either. And I’m sure there are a lot of people that haven’t had dates until they’re like 30 or something.”

Once again, they all shook their heads in unison.

“Seohyunnie doesn’t show interest in anything else besides her school work and healthy eating,” Jessica pointed out, wagging her finger, “So she doesn’t count. The rest of us have been dating since even before high school."

Sunny glanced over at Seohyun for some help, noticing her flinch in slight offense.

“It’s not that I don’t have interest in anyone,” Seohyun muttered, looking down and shuffling her feet, “It’s just that I don’t have any time to- Hey! This isn’t even about me, Sunny unnie!”

With a growl, Sunny rolled her eyes and turned her body over again.

“Just give me 10 minutes and I’ll be out.”

“Kay, we’re taking my car!” Tiffany cheered, leading the girls out of Sunny’s room. “And we’re eating Italian okay?”

The small girl watched as her friends left her room with a little bounce in her step. She rolled her eyes, still feeling sleep tugging on her mind but there was no turning back now. Hopefully she could schedule a nap later in the day, perhaps she should check Sica’s napping schedule so they could sleep together.

Sunny knew her friends meant well, and honestly it was a little hilarious how obsessed they were with the idea of her giving Sooyoung a chance. But she was getting tired of their excitement quickly. She hoped that they’d drop the subject as soon as this lunch was over and that after, things could go back to normal.

The Italian restaurant Tiffany picked was moderately busy, mild chatter filling the air. As usual, their group of friends was the loudest, almost 90% of the noise coming out of Tiffany.

They decided to start off with small talk, not wanting to verbally assault Sunny in public right off the bat.

Seohyun was apparently working on a bonus assignment for extra marks. The older girls smiled affectionately at her as she whined over the marks she lost on her last test (only 3) and how the assignment would make up for it. Sunny was jealous that anyone could have that much drive.

Tiffany apparently made a new friend recently. She had run into her during her morning bike ride the other day and they decided to take the same route. Taeyeon couldn’t help but think that she knew who the other person was, but decided not to bring it up until a later time.

“She’s hot,” Tiffany declared with a smirk, “And totally my type. I was thinking of asking her out sometime next week.”

“And speaking of dates,” Jessica chirped. Sunny has honestly never seen Jessica this excited about talking about dates since her and Taeyeon first started going out. “Soonkyu, I believe you have a story to tell?”

All of their eyes pointed directly at Sunny, the shorter girl regretting her decision to sit at the head of the table. Why didn’t she think more clearly?

“So I was born on a Tuesday morning at 5AM, my mother was-“

“Ha ha ha, very funny,” Taeyeon interrupted, pointing a saucy fork at her best friend. “Now what happened first?” She didn’t seem to notice the small droplets of sauce that sprayed on Sunny’s face, causing the girl to groan and wipe it off with a napkin.

“Okay, but don’t be disappointed when you’re bored out of your mind,” Sunny grumbled before taking a sip of her iced tea.

“Anyway,” she could practically hear their sharp intake of air as they all stared at her intently. She couldn’t help but look away from their gaze, starting to feel a little shy all of a sudden. She couldn’t let it show. “Um, we had dinner then we walked around, then we had dessert then we walked around again and kind of just hung out until around midnight? Then I took her home then I went back home and that’s it.”

“You’ve got to be omitting some details,” Tiffany accused, pointing a dirty finger at Sunny. But Seohyun placed a hand on her hand, pushing it down.

“Fany unnie, pointing is rude and,” she grabbed her napkin and offered it to the older girl, “You have some sauce on your nose so you should probably wipe that.”

Tiffany pouted, obeying the younger girl and silently wiping the sauce off her nose.

“Well, I guess there’s some other minor details,” Sunny shrugged, now tracing circles in her pasta. “Like um, I bought her ice cream. And we talked a lot about the…gem and I kind of told her that I think I like her.”

Jessica spat out her drink on Taeyeon.

“I want ice cream,” Taeyeon said a little distracted, wiping the soda off her shirt.

“Sorry Taeng!” Jessica cried, frantically grabbing tissues and wiping her girlfriend off properly.

“Wait what?” Tiffany asked, her eyes wide, “You…since when?”

Sunny looked both ways, cautious to see if anyone was paying attention to them. She then unwrapped the bandages around her wrist and showed the girls the brilliant violet of her gem.

“Wow,” Seohyun breathed, a hand over , “It’s beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that shade before.”

“Well, each gem is supposed to be unique,” Sunny shrugged, “No couple’s colour matching until that final crimson. It is pretty, isn’t it?” She smiled to herself, admiring the shine and warmth emitting from her wrist.

The other girls looked at each other before looking back at Sunny.

“Sunny, so is this something serious?” Tiffany asked, breaking the sweet silence between the girls.

Sunny didn’t look up, the form of Sooyoung’s face forming in her mind.

“I don’t know,” she said a little quietly, “I think she probably expects a lot from me, but I’m not really sure what to do.”

Taeyeon reached over to her best friend and squeezed her hand, “Don’t worry too much about it Soonkyu, we’re here for you always. And you know, if you need a little help in romancing her, I am always willing to give my advice.”

Jessica scoffed, “Taengoo please.”

Taeyeon turned over to her girlfriend and waggled her eye brows, “What? My charm worked on you.”

“Mhm,” Jessica rolled her eyes before closing them when Taeyeon gave her a sweet kiss on the cheek.

“I think I want to talk to Ms. Song first,” Sunny mumbled, opening her phone and checking her email. “I have an appointment with her tonight.”

None of Sunny’s friends were exactly happy or confident in the girl’s therapist. Sure, she has helped so far in her own ways but at the core of it, they knew her to be slightly out of her mind. But they’ve made their protests known and they fell upon deaf ears. Sunny had been going to her since her youth; they must have created a special bond in that time.

And so they nodded silently, keeping their thoughts to themselves. Hopefully, that woman wouldn’t lead Sunny astray in all this.
