Ch. 5- Bits of the Past

My Personal Angel

OMG! I'M SO SO SO SO SO SORRY FOR THE LATE UPDATE! I've been so busy with college and personal problems and work that I never had time to write. Also I've been having writer's block as well. I want to thank everyone for being patient. Thank you! Please enjoy this chapter. I will probably be update soon since it is almost thanksgiving break! Also excuse me for my mistakes. Haven't proofread it yet.

Sunggyu's POV:

"Hyunsung-ah! Are you ready?"

It has been two weeks since I've started work at Nuclear Entertainment. Not much has happened since it has been the same over and over again. Just filing papers and having to talk to people who auditioned, telling them they made it or did not. Whenever I had to make those calls, they were the worst, especially ones who didn't make it. Some would question as to why they didn't get in, most would cry, and I have had a few who would yell at me. I even had to put the phone at a distant so my eardrum wouldn't shatter!

"I'm ready mommy!" Hyunsung came running down the steps holding onto a picture. I kneeled down so I was at eye level with him and pointed at the picture.

"Hyunsung-ah, why do you have a picture of grandma, you, and I? Are you bringing it to school?"

Hyunsung nodded his head, jumping up and down. "Mr. Lee told us today that we should bring in a picture of our family so I'm bringing this one! See? This is the one we took at grannie's birthday party!" I gently took the photo from his grasp and smiled at it. The picture brought many good memories that I wished that I didn't remember at times. After a good few minutes of staring at the picture, I handed it back to him.

"Take care of the picture okay? Don't want for it to get ruined." Hyunsung grabbed onto my hand as we headed out the door. "Okay mommy! I will be extra, extra, extra careful with it! I promise!"

As Hyunsung and I got into the car and drove to daycare, I saw on a billboard that was advertising Nuclear Entertainment and for people to audition for it. I just rolled my eyes at it and continued to drive. When we got to the daycare, Hyunsung was struggling to get out of his carseat. I just chuckled at him and helped Hyunsung get out. Then I made sure to open the door right away that way he could jump out of the car and run over to Sungyeol. I greeted my cousin as he was hugging Hyunsung.

"Hi Sunggyu-hyung. Hi Hyunsung-ah. How are you today?" I watched as Hyunsung showed the picture of the three of us.

"I brought the picture as you said we should, Mr. Lee!" Sungyeol bent down and patted Hyunsung's head.

"That's great, Hyunsung-ah. Now, why don't you run on in? Sooyeol is waiting for you inside."

My eyes widened when Hyunsung literally sprinted into the building. For a child, he runs quite fast. I just shook my head and turned my attention to Sungyeol who was strangely eying me. "Yah! What do you want with me?" He sighed and that was when I knew something was wrong with my choding cousin. I walked on over to him and patted his shoulders. "What's wrong? Do you want to tell me?"

Sungyeol looked at me with puppy eyes and let out a sigh. "I want to kill that arrogant bastard!"

Oh yeah. Him. The person Sungyeol told me he met two weeks ago. Apparently some relative of Sooyeol's. Can't believe that he is still hung up about this. He even had to rant about it for a whole week! Who was the person he ranted to? Of course! Me! Not his brother Lee Sungjong who is always with him. Wait. Correction. Nevermind. Sungjong is never there for his brother unless working at the daycare center.

Sungyeol grabbed onto my shoulders very tightly. It actually kind of scared me. I've never known for Sungyeol to actually be this strong which kind of freaks me out a bit. Not a good thing since he is probably still frustrated and upset over the whole thing. I want to tell him to get over it, but if I do, I probably would get a beating by the choding. Which is not a good idea since I need to be there for Hyunsung.

Sunggyu removed Sungyeol's hands and placed them on his side. Now, I don't know about you, but I really don't want to get on his bad side. The older patted the younger's shoulders and smiled.

"Sungyeol-ah, take advice from your cousin. Everything will be alright. Don't worry about it, okay? Do. You. Understand. Me?"

We stared at each other, and Sunggyu could tell that Sungyeol was making it a eye staring contest. After a few seconds of no response, I removed my hands and walked towards my car. "I will see you later, Sungyeol! Take care of Hyunsung and snap out of your thoughts too!"

I entered my car and started it. Then I took one more glance at the daycare center before I drove off to work. Luckily, it wasn't a long drive or else I would have been late many times. I the radio and listened to new songs that have been recently released. Also, Woohyun-sshi made me listen to new groups or new songs in order for me to work better. That sort of logic I don't understand, but I won't say anything about it.

Not like I could say anything at first.

When I arrived at the company and parked my car, Hoya-sshi was just entering as well. However, something has been bothering me about him. These past two weeks, he seems off or like something is on his mind. I would ask but I don't know him that well. I thought I would be able to get by him. Before I knew it, Hoya-sshi had called out my name which I responded by calling his name.

"H-Hoya-sshi, it's nice morning, isn't it?" He smiled at me and was about to say something. Though, he stopped and his eyes widened. I turned around to see what he was looking at; it was Dongwoo-sshi. Now that I think about it, ever since Dongwoo-sshi has started to work here, Hoya-sshi has been acting weird. Like really weird. I don't know what is going on with those two, but I hope they will be able to figure it out. Wouldn't want anything bad to happen to the company.

Hoya-sshi cleared his throat and smiled at me. "Yes, it was a nice morning. I must get going. It was nice to see--"

"Hoya-sshi, I'm riding the elevator as well." We stared at each other until he let out a sigh.

"Oh, right, sorry, I forgot. Come on. We better hurry or else Woohyun-hyun will have our asses for it."

We boarded the elevator and the doors are about to close until a hand slipped through the crack. The doors reopened, revealing a panting dinosaur. I mean, Dongwoo-sshi. "S-Sorry about that. I didn't want to wait for the elevator to come back down." He walked inside and stood in front of us.

From the corner of my eye, I looked at Hoya-sshi. There was this tension that was evident. I couldn't tell what it exaclty is, but they must have some sort of past. Or they at least know each other. When the doors opened the third floor, Hoya-sshi was the first one to leave. He bowed to us, more like me, and left. Which left Dongwoo-sshi and I in the elevator.

I turned my head towards Dongwoo-sshi, but noticed that he was looking down at the floor. There was a pain and guilt written all over his face. It isn't like me to dig into other people's privacies, but this worries me. If these two start working together, then it would probably only cause a disaster. Right when I was about to ask him what is his connection with Hoya-sshi, the doors opened.

Dongwoo walked out and then turned around to bow at me. However, he forced a smile on. I may not know him very well, but the day when we had lunch showed me his true smile. How he really laughs. This time he was putting an act on.

In response, I bowed back to him as the doors began to close. Then the elevator went up to the Woohyun-sshi's office. I stepped out of the elevator but at the same time, a celebrity walked in. I turned around to see Myungsoo, otherwise known as L, with his manager. The manager and I bowed to each other while Myungsoo-sshi just stood there with his stoic expression.

After that, I went to the office, set my bag down, and sat in my chair. There were already files on my desk from Woohyun-sshi that seemed like he wanted to have them done as soon as possible. I just sighed at the sight of them and began to go through them.

Some of them were about people who tried out for the company, few about money business, and then one about the new song that needs to be written. I couldn't help but feel excited for it. Though, I don't know if I will be able to finish it. There is a deadline and I'm already busy with Hyunsung and work. For me, Hyunsung and work is more important than writing a song that may or may not be sung.

I don't want to take the chance of it being rejected.

Nobody's POV:

An hour or so later passed when Sunggyu finished filing. He stacked them on his desk and looked through the internet. Woohyun had told him that he has to be updated on current events. Especially the music industry. Even music in other countries.

As usualy, Sunggyu is a hard worker while he looks through new articles. He is a bit surprised who have the top albums or new songs that have come out. Honestly, he doesn't know many idols but he is learning. Even Hyunsung has to correct him at times who are who.

Woohyun had just come back from a meeting whent he door opened. It kind of scared Sunggyu because it was quite obvious since he kind of jumped out of his chair. They stared at each other until Woohyun broke it. Sunggyu pouted a bit but made sure his boss didn't see it.

"Sunggyu-sshi, are you finished with those files?" Sunggyu looked up at Woohyun who was sitting down in his chair. The former simply nodded his head but that wasn't enough for Woohyun. "Don't just nod your head. You should answer with your voice."

Sunggyu pouted even more and let out a sigh. "Yes, I finished them not too long ago." Woohyun flashed a small smile that shook Sunggyu's heart. This is probably the first time Woohyun has genuinely smiled at him. The older just looked away and cleared his throat.

"That's good. You're getting used to your job. My last personal assistant took a month to do her job correctly. I wonder why." Sunggyu turned back around and glared at his boss.

Maybe she was too distracted by you, you dimwit!

"Sunggyu-sshi, I think it is best if you don't try to mentally call your boss a dimwit," said Woohyun as he looked up from his laptop. Sunggyu hesitantly made eye contact with him. He gulped down his fear and nodded his head.

"A-Alright. I will make sure to not do that again."

Woohyun smiled, but this time it wasn't a genuine smile. More like you-better-or-else smile. Sunggyu nodded his head and looked down at his lap. He punished himself by hitting his head slightly which caught Woohyun' attention. Weirdly enough, it made Woohyun laugh. Sunggyu heard his boss laughing which made him look up. They made eye contact once again, but this made Woohyun stop laughing.

"Go back to working, Sunggyu-sshi."

Once again, Sunggyu nodded his head and went back to do some more research. There wasn't much else to do but look through more and more articles. While he was looking through things, he decided to plug in his ear buds. Then he listened to a few songs that had recently been released. A few of them were catchy, some he liked, and others that he couldn't help but get lost in them.

Sunggyu has a tendency to close his eyes as he listens to music. That is why it is dangerous for him to listen to music while he is driving. It happened once and he doesn't want to go through that again. As he listens, he couldn't help but mouth the words. Then it became a low hum, soft singing, and before he realizes it; he starts singing to it.

This, however, catches Woohyun off guard. He realizes that it will be impossible to yell out his name so he gets up and walks over to Sunggyu's desk. Then he yanks out the ear buds and hits his head. This made Sunggyu squeal and look up at his boxx. "I-Is there something wrong, Mr. Nam?"

Woohyun looks at his employee then throw the ear buds back at him. "Do whatever you want. But if I hear you start singing loudly again then I will throw away your ear buds. Understand?" Sunggyu's eyes widened at the mention of the other throwing out his precious ear buds.

"I-I'm sorry sir! I will make sure to not do it again!"

They stared at each other until Woohyun was the first one to break away. Reason why is because he doesn't think he could take how naive Sunggyu was. The older was confused at Woohyun's reactions but shrugged his shoulders. As long as he doesn't get fired then all is good!

After listening to tons and tons of songs for three hours, Sunggyu decided it was time for a break. More like Woohyun decided it was a time for a break. They both got up and went to the café they've been going everyday for lunch. Sunggyu was expecting for Dongwoo to follow them but it seems like he wasn't.

When they got to the café, Woohyun told Sunggyu to go pick a seat. Sunggyu chose their usual spot in the corner by the window. He looked out to see people passing by either going to work or out somewhere for fun. There wasn't much else to do so he kept on staring until there was a hand waving in front of his face.

Sunggyu snapped out of his thoughts and looked up to see Woohyun with two cups of coffee. "T-Thank you," he said as he took the cup of coffee. He wasn't sure to drink it or not since Woohyun probably doesn't know what he likes. However, when he takes the first sip, he is actually surprised that it suits his taste.

They sat in silence as a waitress came brought their sandwiches and fruit salads. Woohyun decides what they should get and Sunggyu doesn't want to get into an argument with Woohyu so he says nothing. The food is good at least. He just wants to choose something on his own.

Woohyun looked up from his sandwich to see Sunggyu taking small bites. Like really, really, really small bites. The younger begins to wonder how long the older takes to eat his food. He looks like a squirrel, no, a hamster when he eats is what Woohyun decides to relate him to.

As Woohyun was finishing his last bite, he noticed there was food on the side of Sunggyu's lips. He rolled his eyes and handed Sunggyu a napkin. "Here, there is food on your mouth so wipe it off. I don't want you looking a like a mess before we go back to work."

Sunggyu's cheeks turned a light pink as he took the napkin and wiped all over his face. Woohyun mentally let out a sigh of relief since he wasn't willing to wipe away any crumbs on the older's mouth. They continued to eat in silence until it was time to go back to work.

When they arrived at work, there was a storming Hoya walking into the elevator. They both look at him then at each other. Woohyun shakes his head then turns to Hoya. "Meet me in my office after your done with whatever you have to do. We are going to talk. Come, Sunggyu-sshi."

The older looked at Hoya then at Woohyun. They left the elevator when it got to the top floor and went to Woohyun's office. Sunggyu wanted to ask Woohyun if he knows what is wrong with Hoya, but he knows that it isn't his place to ask.

"If you want to ask, then go ahead," Woohyun says as he flips through papers. It kind of throws Sunggyu off but he asks anyways.

He looks down at his lap and fiddles around with his fingers. "H-Hoya-sshi... How come he is like that? What happened for him to appear like that?" Woohyun looked up from his stack of papers and ran a hand through his hair. A sigh escaped from his lips as he remembers the past.

"Hoya... We've been friends since we were little. It was when we entered high school when Hoya met Dongwoo-hyung. The three of us known each other since then, but those two were closer to each other. They were even in the dance club together." Woohyun set down his papers, propped his elbows on his desk, and placed his chin on his hands. "Then an unfortunate acciden happened which caused a break in their friendship. Ever since then, those two haven't been friends. That's all i can tell you. It isn't my place to tell you the details in between."

Sunggyu shakes his head and smiles at his boss. "No, I understand. However, I'm glad that you told me."

"Why is that," Woohyun questions. He doesn't understand as to why Sunggyu is happy that he told about Hoya's and Dongwoo's past.

The older looks down with a bashful smile. "Because it feels like you opened up to me a bit. Even though it was about Hoya-sshi and Dongwoo-sshi, but you told me a bit about you as well. Thank you."

Woohyun is surprised and whatever other similar feelings there are to it. He has never heard anybody say that to him. Hearing Sunggyu is glad that he told a part of his life to him makes him feel confused. And he doesn't like that feeling.

He looks back at his papers, trying to get Sunggyu's words out of his head. "I-It's nothing. Now, get back to work before I fire you!"

Sunggyu chuckles softly. "Of course, Mr. Nam."

-------------------------------------------------------------

After Sunggyu finished working, he was told to leave because Woohyun needed to talk to Hoya. They said their goodbyes to each other as the older left the office. Then as he got onto the elevator, Hoya stepped out at the same time. He watched him pass by as he entered the elevator.

He pressed the basement button and the elevator proceeded to go down. He couldn't wait to see Hyunsung again. Also, he was starving as well. Tonight he was going to make a simple spaghetti dinner since they haven't ate that for such a long time.

However, when the elevator stopped, he noticed that he wasn't at the bottom leve yet. The doors opened to reveal Dongwoo getting in as well. They both made eye contact and then Dongwoo smiled at him. Sunggyu did the same as the elevator's door closed and continued to go down.

"I see that you've got used to working with Woohyun. He can be a pain in the at times, but he has a good heart. Please, don't misunderstand him," said Dongwoo as he watched the numbers descend.

This caught Sunggyu off guard. He didn't know what to say so he just nodded his head. When they arrived at the underground parking garage, they said their goodbyes to each other. The older got into his car, started it, and left the garage. Luckily, the ride wasn't long because he realized that he needed to buy ingredients for dinner as well.

When he picked Hyunsung up, he wasn't surprised to see Sooyeol with him too. Sunggyu got out of the car and went to his son. "Hi, Hyunsung-ah. Did you have a good day?"

Hyunsung looked up to see Sunggyu standing there. The little boy ran up to him and gave Sunggyu a hug. "I've been good mommy! All day I played with Sooyeol! We were playing prince and princess. Of course I was was the prince and Sooyeol was the princess. Right, Sooyeol?" The other boy blushed furiously and nodded his head.

Sunggyu couldn't help but smile and laugh. He looked up at Sungyeol who was laughing as well. "Well, Hyunsung and I are going to go now. We will see you tomorrow. Say bye bye, Hyunsung."

Hyunsung got out of Sunggyu's arms and went back to Sooyeol. Before the latter could say anything, Hyusung quickly pecked his cheek which made Sooyeol's cheek turn a flaming red. Sunggyu's eyes widened as he pulled Hyusung back.

"See you tomorrow!"

"Bye bye, Sooyeol!"

The two of them headed back to the car as he strapped Hyusung to his seat. Then he went to the front and got into the driver's seat. Sunggyu started to drive to the grocery store while Hyunsung kept on seeing a song. However, every so often, he would randomly sing Sooyeol's name.

When they got to the grocery store, Sunggyu put Hyunsung into the cart. They walked through aisles and aisles of food. Fruits, vegetables, and ingredients for dinner were put into the cart. Of course, some snacks were put into there as well because Hyusung wanted them. Also Sunggyu didn't want the little boy to cry int he store.

As they were heading up to the cashier, ladies of different ages came up to the two of them. They all wanted to pinch Hyusung's cheeks and squeeze him to death. Hyusung took it all in like the good boy he is. Sunggyu could only watch as the women asked him how old his son was, how old he is, and where his wife is at. Of course, he answered all of them except for the wife one.

After paying for their groceries, they went back to the car. Sunggyu gave one of the snacks for Hyusung to eat since he was a good boy for the women. Then he drove back home which was surprisingly quiet. He looked in the rearview mirror to see Hyusung sleeping. He couldn't help but smile as continued to drive.

When they got home, Hyusung had already woke up. Hyunsung wanted to help carry things in so Sunggyu gave him the lightest ones to carry. Luckily, it only had to take one trip.

Sunggyu and Hyunsung began to make dinner the minute they entered their apartment. Hyusung helped by setting the table up while Sunggyu cooked. They enjoyed their times together as they finish cooking the food. Then they sat down, ate, and Sunggyu had to wipe away the sauce on Hyusung's mouth as well.

"Mommy, are you going to date Sooyeol's uncle?"

Once again, Sunggyu was caught off guard. He has been caught off guard too many times today.

"Hyusung-ah, I'm not going to date him. He is my boss. We can't date with each other. Also, we don't like each other like that." Hyusung pouted at his answer and placed his fork down.

"B-But... I want to have a daddy..." Sunggyu's heart broke a bit. He tries to be a dad and mom at the same time, but sometimes he can't be.

Sunggyu placed his fork down and pulled Hyusung onto his lap. "I know you want a dad, but Mr. Nam and I won't ever go out with each. We just don't have feelings for each other." Hyunsung looked up at Sunggyu and reluctantly nodded his head.

"W-What if you do? What if you do have feelings for him, mommy?"

Sunggyu let out a sigh and closed his eyes. He kissed Hyusung's forehead and fed him the spaghetti. "If were to develop feelings for him... I wouldn't know what to do."

Soon it was time to wash up after they finished cleaning and eating. They took a bath together, brushed their teeth, and washed their faces. Then they got into the pajamas and Sunggyu put Hyunsung into his bed. Sunggyu sang a lullaby to the boy and soon he fell asleep.

Sunggyu smiled fondly at Hyusung as he leaned down to kiss his forehead. Then he shut off the lights, closed the door, and went to his room. He laid down in his, and thought about what Hyunsung had said. What Woohyun had told him about his past. It may have not been really about him, but it was still something.

Though he won't admit it, there was a fluttering feeling in his heart. A feeling that he wishes he wouldn't feel anymore.

--------------------------------------------------------

Hoya enters Woohyun's office a bit shakey, angry, and confused. How could his own friend hire Dongwoo as the new dance teacher and choreographer? He should have gone it over with him especially if it was about Dongwoo.

"Woohyun-hyung, I'm here. Is there something you need to tell me?"

Woohyun looked up from his papers, slid his glasses off, and watched his friend. He could tell that the younger was mad at him for hiring Dongwoo. However, he has other intentions that he won't tell anybody. Not even to his best friend.

"Hoya come sit. There are things I need to ask of you."

Hoya does what he said and sits across from Woohyun. "Well, what is it? Is it about Dongwoo? There is no need to talk about him. I can handle i--"

"Stop. I know you can't handle it. The moment you saw Dongwoo, you've changed. If your past relationship with Dongwoo is going to affect your work, then I will have to fire one of you." Hoya's eyes widened at this information. It was either him or Dongwoo. However, somewhere deep in his heart, he didn't want Dongwoo to be fired because of his personal feelings. But he didn't want to get fired either.

Hoya clenched his fists and nodded his head. "I understand. I will make sure to keep in check with my feelings. I will take my leave now."

Just when Hoya was about to leave, what Woohyun said stopped him.

"You know, it wasn't his fault. Dongwoo wasn't the one who injured you. He did nothing to you. You're the one who hurted yourself. Even now, you're still hurting."

Hoya looked down at his feet and shook his head. He walked out of the office with memories of him dancing and smiling with Dongwoo.
