Lucid Dreams

They talked and dined the night away, sometimes delving into more serious topics and sometimes just being downright idiotic and silly. Neither woman could seem to tear their attention away from the other, and even in a small romantic French restaurant full of other romantic couples, they seemed to stand out in the sense that they were completely unaware of the world outside of them. No one and nothing else existed for them outside the immediate vicinity of their own small table.
Other couples would glance at them and whisper, smiling fondly at how lost into each other the young couple in the back looked. Each spectator could not help but recall the dreamlike trance one seemed to wade into when just embarking on a new relationship. How your world would seem to take on a surreal, almost underwater-like languidness as you just…floated along…in a daze of adoration and bliss.
As Dmitri, their server approached the two woman for the last time that night (kitchen’s last call had been half an hour ago), he could not help but feel a warmth blossoming in his chest for this adorably cute couple.
“My lovelies, is there absolutely anything at all I can grab you before we close for the night? Another drink perhaps? A nightcap maybe?”
Onyx eyes never leaving Tiffany’s face, the blonde gently brushed her lips across Tiffany’s knuckles, teeth teasingly nipping across sensitive skin. She could feel the younger one shudder and she couldn’t help but smile.
Jessica had felt increasingly drunk as the night wore on. Perhaps it was the flights she had imbibed in, but more likely than not she was simply drunk on the younger woman in front of her. Jessica was not really one to get intoxicated. First off being drunk and blind was not a good combination, so Jessica never really allowed herself to get faced so to speak. Second off she had a pretty good tolerance, and getting to the point where she couldn’t have full control of herself was not something she ever allowed.
No. This was something else. She was drunk on love. On life. On Tiffany.
The blonde had spent the entire night with her onyx eyes glued to the younger’s countenance, recalling the day in her studio apartment where she had caressed and held Tiffany’s face in her hands, feeling soft skin glide beneath fastidious fingertips. She could see Tiffany’s face before her now, and the blonde was positive no one looked more beautiful or radiant than Tiffany that night.
Tiffany on the other hand was a little disconcerted at first at how intense Jessica’s eyes were, peering into the depths of her own. Most of the times she had hung out with the blonde the photographer had kept her sunglasses on, even indoors. But Jessica had made a point tonight of keeping the sunglasses off for their first date, and Tiffany appreciated the significance of that. More than once during the night though, the young ballerina had felt breathless at the intensity of Jessica’s attentions on her. At times clinical, and others purely enamoured. Jessica’s unwavering gaze made Tiffany blush and feel…desired. She soon found herself sinking into Jessica’s eyes as much as the blonde was delving deep into hers.
Tiffany took a shuddering breath, her lower lip caught between her teeth as Jessica gave her a slow wan smile. She hadn’t expected the older woman to be so…amorous and flirty. That’s not to say she didn’t enjoy it, it was just…unexpected. They had started off the night with some light dallying banter, more like their usual teasing. But as the night wore on, Jessica seemed to become more and more enamoured.
Jessica hummed lowly to herself, “Mmmm no…I think we are good for the night, but if you don’t mind maybe taking a picture of the two of us to commemorate the night?” Jessica said slowly, the pads of her fingertips ghosting across pale knuckles.
“Oh it would absolutely be my pleasure! Which phone should I use?”
“No if you could use my camera instead, I want to try to capture it just right.”
Tiffany stared at Jessica. Even she had never been allowed to touch the blonde’s camera and here Jessica was offering it to their server! The younger girl didn’t know whether to be jealous that Dmitri was allowed to use Jessica’s camera or be honoured that Jessica wanted a picture of them together on her camera. It wasn’t that Jessica hadn’t snapped some photos of her while they ate, something that still threw Tiffany off guard, but this will be the first time the two of them had ever had their picture taken together. With Jessica’s camera no less.
“Oh of course! Is it this one here?”
“Yes, just press the button on the top to take a picture. Maybe take a couple if you don’t mind?”
Tiffany shook her head in disbelief at the blonde’s unbothered demeanor. This was her camera they were talking about! Her Livelihood! But she didn’t have too much time to delve on it as Dmitri was already standing in front of them, ready to snap a couple photos. The younger woman leaned into their table and turned to face the camera where she heard the server take a couple shots. Then Jessica took her face in her hands and turned her to face her.
Forehead against forehead. Tip of noses just touching. Lips paper-thin apart.
Suddenly, everything and everyone else disappeared.
All Tiffany could see, hear, or even breathe was purely Jessica. She had already been somewhat disoriented all night with how much she was drawn into the blonde. But this was that intensified tenfold.
Jessica’s warm breath tickled her lips. And she could tell the blonde was just as affected as she was by their proximity. They had gotten close tonight. Teasing fingertips, wandering lips on hands. But they hadn’t kissed. In fact, they hadn’t kissed since three days ago when Jessica kissed her on the terrace. She could feel the shallow breaths Jessica was taking, almost as if afraid to breathe in too deep and take in too much of Tiffany into her.
Tiffany closed her eyes and she swore she could feel Jessica’s pulse trilling underneath her fingertips resting on the blonde’s forearms. She tried to remember to tell he
