Pre Debut
Undeniable Uncertainty
Minseok felt overly conscious.
The higher ups in SM Entertainment skeptically stared at him from head to toe.
“At least he’s talented,” he heard them whisper to one another.
“But his body and face are a bit…” the other trailed on unsurely.
“It can be fixed in due time,” the first employee convincingly concluded.
Minseok bit his inner cheek and stood up stiffly.
What are they talking about?
Just a few days ago, when he was first given the news that he had placed highly in SM's singing competition, Minseok was more ecstatic than he could ever recount. He could not further contain his excitement when he was immediately accepted to train in the company and hopefully realize his dream as a singer.
However, all the positive energy completely drained itself out when he heard the powerful yet disrespectful employees in the company grimly insult him.
Minseok played with his fingers and bit his lower lip in obvious uncertainty. However, the "adults" who were standing merely five feet away from him did not take note of his troubled expression and movements. They simply continued blabbering on about what he did not fear in the past:
Weight, weight, weight.
Surely, worth and talent was not measured by merely the physical appearance of a person, right?
He was no longer certain.
For the first time in his eighteen years of living, Minseok felt insecure.
