XV Le Diable
Red Velvet: Cursed
The Devil/Le Diable
The Devil is the card of self- to an idea or belief which is preventing a person from growing or being healthy—an example might be a belief that getting drunk each night is good for you. On the other hand, however, it can also be a warning to someone who is too restrained and/or dispassionate and never allows him or herself to be rash or wild or ambitious, which is yet another form of enslavement.
Chapter 15
Le Diable
I'm burning.
I thought that after some time, I would wake up and everything would turn to normal. It never did. I was never going to see my bed again. Or my parents. Heck, maybe I was even a tiny bit glad that I would never see them. My parents weren’t nice at all. My eyes travelled to Zelo’s corpse as we were all waiting for it to disappear. It never did. It was like the other ones. Xiumin wanted us to have a good look at the coward.
My upper lip started to tremble. A tear rolled down my cheek. This was utterly frustrating. I needed to escape this place more than anything. There wasn’t any time. The people who were still here were not going to help me at all. I deeply wished to just walk away and figure things out myself, but I couldn’t. I had a dark feeling the truth would reach the surface one way or another. We just had to wait.
Eventually, we moved to another classroom and locked the door. This time, all we could hear was Mr. Byun’s endless nagging. He was blaming it all out on us. He wanted to see his kid. He wanted to see his wife. He wasn’t supposed to be here. What happened to him? Minutes ago he seemed to be quite sure the exit wasn’t that far. I betted his teacher role had its limits and this was Baekhyun, the human.
Heechul was quiet and reserved as well. He seemed to be tangled within his thoughts. This was nothing like him. I didn’t want to look at the others right now. They were all in the wrong.
“If you’re not going to shut up, I will ing kill you.” That was it. Heechul snapped. He approached Mr. Byun and hissed with a deep voice. “Zelo is dead. That piece of is dead. And you are going to die as well. Get over yourself.”
Nothing else was being said. Mr. Byun left. He just walked out of the door and was quickly followed by Chen. So Chen didn’t like us either. That was nothing knew. I wanted to take my leave as well, to be on my own, but figured out that this could be quite interesting.
It was.
The moment the teacher and his pet left the room, we had to endure a bitter silence and suddenly, all eyes were on me.
Zhou Mi approached slowly and gave me a nervous laughter. “Are you staying as well?” his eyes seemed to be almost bathing in fear. I didn’t know how to respond to this, but deep inside I was afraid of already being familiar with these kind of glares.
“Why not? Should I leave?” my tongue was sharp.
“No!” Yuri suddenly spoke and grabbed Zhou Mi’s arm. “I already told them you were cool. It’s okay. Chanyeol can stay.”
Ailee started laughing and shook her head. “He won’t.”
“Why not?” The strange part in this was that Ailee’s voice didn’t seem to threaten me at all. That was something new. She seemed confident and scared at the same time. Their cover was fading away. It was quite fascinati
