10 years later...

 

 

Time flies so fast. Hyosung is a grown up woman now but according to her older sister, Hyoyoung, her character,

attitudes and personality are still childish sometimes. Finally, after studying and struggling hard during high school

and university, she successfully becomes what she wanted. Her dream job since she was a little girl. Her families are

so proud with her tremendous achievement. Plus, right after she finished her studies, she got a job offer. Her effort

really paid off. She is totally grateful with the job; at least her name is not listed into the unemployed-graduates list.

 

Maybe some people will wonder what her occupation is? Where does she works? Don’t worry. She doesn’t get

involved with any illegal jobs. When people asked that, she just wanted to scream to the whole world that she is

Doctor Jeon Hyosung, a dentist at Orthodontic Unit at Seoul Woman University Hospital. She might have a bright

luck in her career yet she’s still single. She’s happy in that way as she thinks that life would be easier without a

boyfriend. She can do everything she wants without bothering others’ feelings. Besides, she perceives herself just a

not-so-pretty-and-not-so-ugly-girl, or in other word, she thinks she has an average looks. There would be no second

glance from guys if they looked at her. But she does not care at all, because she knows that she’s not a Miss

Universe. That is why she put her career first above all. Maybe she will think about love after she accomplished her

goals in life. Well, we will see!

 

“What?!” Hyosung’s voice raised to 8 octaves. She just got a phone call that totally made her mind went blank. Her

loud scream caught attention from Yuri, her assistant who was sterilizing the dental instruments and utensils at the

special small sink in the same room with hers. She glanced at her few times, checking if her boss is alright.

 

“Where are you now?” now her shaking voice can be heard. Yuri furrowed her eyebrows, she didn’t know who the

caller is but obviously, her boss looked completely in panic.

 

“Ok..I’ll go there. Wait for me, okay?” she hurriedly tidied up her things on the table with her mobile phone is tightly

held in her hand. She swiftly undid her white doctor uniform and put it on the chair. She snatched her  LV handbag

and yelled her assistant’s name.

 

“Yuri!” a loud voice can be heard from room no.2. Hyosung seemed restless, looking for her assistant.

 

“Doctor, I’m here!” Yuri slowly spoke, kinda afraid with her boss’s unstable state right now.

 

“I’m so sorry. I thought you’re at the counter outside. Can you cancel all my appointment for today? And tell Chief

Kim that I have to go now. I got an emergency case.” She calmly explained. She felt bad for her because she

made her assistant scared with her shrieking bawl.

 

“Okay..i will tell him later” Yuri said while approaching Hyosung who already hold the door knob. Hyosung paused

and faced her.

 

“I’m sorry, Yuri!’ she apologized once again.

 

“Nahh..It’s okay..” Yuri smiled, trying to calm down her boss. Hyosung replied her smile and quickly made her way

to her car. She opened the car door and got herself ready in the driver seat. She took a long and deep breath before

switching on the engine. She speeded up her drive just to ensure she will make it to the Sungkyunkwan Specialist

Hospital as fast as she could.

 

“Ex..excuse me..May I know where…er..er.. Mr. Bang Yong Guk room is? He just got into accident..yeahh

accident!” she stuttered, still in panic. She regretted for not asking Jieun first his room number. Luckily the young

nurse at the counter actually can hear her.

 

“You can take the elevator up to the 3 third floor and go right. He’s in room no. 8” the nurse nicely explained to her

the direction right after she searched the patient’s information in the system.

 

“Thank you, Min Ji” she glanced at the nurse nametag and politely thanked her. She made her steps faster to the

elevator.

 

“Phone! Where is my phone!” she wanted to text Jieun to inform her that she is already here. Her hand wildly

searched for it in her handbag but she could not find it. The elevator dinged and she quickly got out from the

elevator.

 

“I got it!” she whispered when she saw the bright glowing screen in her handbag. She took it out and dialed Jieun’s

number. 25 seconds passed but still, there is no answer.

 

“Ouch..what the hell” the cussed under her breath. Her phone that held near to her ear just now is accidentally

dropped on the floor. She winced in pain as someone bumped with her. She gently massaged her shoulder.

 

“Oh my God! My phone! Please be fine!!” she mumbled. She took her phone and examined it. Luckily, there are

only few mere scratches at the back. She really treasures that Samsung S3 phone after begging her dad to buy it for

her birthday. She turned her back and saw a guy in white uniform was curiously looking at her. How she wants to

scold him but she have to forget it as she want to meet Jieun.

 

“You’re lucky because I really need to go now” she rolled her eyes as she walked passed him. Her eyes sparkled

when her phone can be switched on. She took a quick glance behind and found out that guy is still gazing at her.

‘What’s wrong with him?’ Why he’s looking at me like that? I’m not a ghost or something’ she got immersed with

her thought and didn’t realize that she actually missed the right room. ‘Eh..room no. 11?’ she gently palmed her

forehead and turned back.

 

The guy lips curved into a smile as she saw her foolish antics. He immediately made his way, hoping that he will

never meet her again. ‘Crazy woman,,she even talking to her dead phone’ He shook his head.

 

“Jieun” that was the first word spilled from right after she pushed the door. The girl sitting on the couch

quickly glanced at her. Her eyes were read and puffy as she has been crying too much today.

 

“Hyosung” Jieun got up and pulled her into a tight hug. She sobbed hard in her best friend embrace. Hyosung gently

Jieun’s back, trying to comfort her. She truly felt sorry for misfortune happened to her best friend’s husband.

She slowly brought her to sit on the couch. Hyosung was sadly looking at the unconscious Yong Guk sleeping on the

bed. Small cuts are everywhere on his face with a broken leg in a cast.

 

“How can this happen?” Hyosung asked after Jieun looked much calmer.

 

“Hit and run” she shortly answered.

 

“What about police report?” Hyosung sympathetically looked at her friend. How can someone being so cruel?

Someone got into pain just because a careless and unethical driver. And the worst part is the culprit just gone like

that. So irresponsible! Hyosung let out a big sigh.

 

“Uncle Lee has settled the car, police, insurance and everything for me. Poor him!’ Jieun claimed. But what can she

do? She’s an orphan after all and Uncle Lee is only her relatives. Hyosung tapped her shoulder and embraced her

once again, trying to give support to Jieun.

The sound of knocked door made her to stop writing her daily report.

 

“Come in” she ordered. Yuri got into the room together with a tray of new and clean dental utensils.

 

“Doctor Hyo, this will be your last patient for today and then you can take rest” she brightly explained. Hyosung

nodded her head. She is truly glad to have an understanding assistant like Yuri. She went to sink and washed both

hands with anti-bacterial sanitizer. Done with that, she looked for a pair of new glove.

 

“Have a seat!” she said after she heard the door is shrieked open. Her back is still facing the patient as she still

preparing the equipment for the treatment.

 

“No, I don’t want!” a little boy voice can be heard. Hyosung immediately turned her back and narrowed her eyes to 5

years old boy that was hiding behind a guy. It is typical for a little kid to be afraid with a dentist, right?

 

“Don’t worry.  It does not hurt at all..” Hyosung gave him a genuine smile, trying to console him. She approached

him and playfully ruffling his hair. The scared boy still felt unsafe, pulling the guy’s hands next to him to drag him

out of the room.

 

“You said you’re a hero. A hero does not afraid of anything, right?” The guy in blue shirt finally spoke. Hyosung

smiled at him. She needed his help to comfort the little boy. Finally, after about 10 minutes they can convince him to

undergo for a treatment.

 

“So, tell me your name” Hyosung asked, trying to make the kid feel less nervous.

 

“Jihoon” he said. She helped him to comfortably sit on the special seat.

 

“Jihoon-ah..Two days ago, the red Power Raingers got toothache too..Did you know that?”

 

“What?! Why he got toothache?” he looked at her in disbelief.

 

The guy who brought Jihoon there was smiling when he heard it. The positive response from Jihoon totally makes

him felt relief. It was so hard to ask him to meet a dentist. He even chased him around the waiting room right after

Jihoon’s name is called to treatment room.

 

“Yes! You know why? Every time he wins against the monsters, the children will give him a lots of lollipops to thank

him” she passionately explained to him. Her hand is skillfully checking his mouth.

 

“But I did not give him lollipop!” he claimed. His mouth is wide opened, so it made it easier for Hyosung to do her

job.

 

“Power Raingers did not cry when he went to see dentist. Just like you. You’re both heroes, right?” there was a lot

things that both of them talked about. She already gave an appropriate amount anesthetic injection, making his mouth

feel numb. She gently slapped his cheeks but he did not give any reaction. So it means the injection she shot earlier

does wonder and Hyosung can proceed to the next step. Finally, a rotten tooth can be pulled out.

 

“Done!” she said as she showed Jihoon his molar.

 

“Huh? But I don’t feel the pain!” he slowly spoke because there was cotton in his mouth.

 

“I told ya!” she smiled again. She threw away her glove and went to her table. A guy who came together with Jihoon

was there too waiting for them. Jihoon ran into him and comfortably sat on his lap. He excitedly told him that he was

happy that he will be no longer to bear the pain. Hyosung pleasantly glanced at them.

 

“He’s fine now.  He can eat anything but please don’t let him eat too much sugary things.” Hyosung explained to the

guy who still remained in silent.

 

“Let the cotton there in his mouth for 15 minutes and then replace it with another clean one. Don’t worry, I will

provide them later together with the antibiotics and make sure…” she gave him a long instruction.

 

“Jeon Hyosung” that guy blurted her name all of sudden. Hyosung wiggled her eyebrows. Weird.

 

“Uhmm..do I know you?” she curiously asked him.

 

“Pretty much!” he tried to hide his grin.

 

“But..I haven’t met you before”

 

“Are you sure? Have you got into accident?” he asked her back.

 

“What do you mean?” Well, she actually was hospitalized once before after she got her driving license.

 

“Did you lose your memory or something?”

 

“Ha..ha..ha..nope!” she let out a big laugh. She thought his question was kinda funny.

 

“Hey, it’s me! Joon!”
