Donghae was confused. In him, there was that type of turmoil that wouldn't let him go to sleep. Despite feeling his body heavy and tired after the long day of manual labour under the hot sunlight, his eyelids were stubbornly remaining wide open. Tossing and turning in his bed, legs tangling in the white sheets and kicking them away, fist hitting the cotton-filled pillow again and again, trying to make it more comfortable... All in vain.   He gave up after a certain point, and he stood up, letting an annoyed grunt. He didn't bother with many clothes. Grabbing only a pair of worn-out jeans, his legs inside, leaving his torso bare and free from more restricting fabrics. He also left everything else necessary - wallet, mobile phone, car keys... Swiftly making his way to the kitchen's door that led outside, he soundlessly closed it behind him, and then put on the neatly arranged sandals, placed beside the mat. Donghae stood there taking in the cool air of the late night for a couple of seconds before heading to a narrow path, near the far corner of their land. It was steep and the earth unstable, pebbles and dirt rolling down with every step. But it was also the quickest way to the sea down below.     The young man wasn't in need of any artificial light to find his way. The pale shine of the moon's half disk and the countless of times he had taken the same route, were enough. He knew where he was going: to his special place. The harsh winds of the sea had eaten away the north side of the hill their house was built on, little by little over all those years. Forming the landscape, were sharp rocks and creepy hollows, deep and dark like the eyes of an ancient beast. Strangely, the waves weren't as dangerous there as they were at other sides of the shore. For Donghae, it was perfect. No one ever went near and so, he could peacefully sit alone and think.     Think till his head would begin to hurt.     He sighed and calculated the distance between the rock he was standing and the one he wanted to land on. Narrowing his eyes, he counted the seconds of interval dividing one gust of wind from another. And as if the world was holding its breath along with him, he leaped forward, using his arms to push the air behind. It was an over two metres gap. Nothing.   He smirked above his shoulder to the ghastly breach, another opponent he had conquered with his own powers. Sitting down, he crossed his legs in front of him and gazed at the sky. There weren't any stars. Donghae scowled. Turning  his eyes to his hands, he examined the lines intense work had engraved on his palms. There was that mark, back from when he had fallen from a lemon tree while picking its fruit. There was also a couple of scars, souvenirs from his experience of changing a wheel of the neighbor's old truck. And there was - fresh and blazing red among the others - a deep line, cutting on the cross the hardened flesh of his left palm, given to him when he attempted to show Hyukjae how to properly use a wood saw.   The brunet scoffed and clenched his fists so tight, that his nails let angry crescent shapes on his skin.       I don't want to think about him right now, god dammit!       He exhaled - a long breath - and run his fingers through his messy hair. Keeping his head between his hands, he glared hard at the rock under his legs. As much as he tried forcing his mind to drift away from thoughts about the man sleeping in the room opposite from his, it was just impossible. Donghae hit his head - once, twice - finally crying out in annoyance.       "Bastard..." he murmured after taking some deep breaths.       Even to him, the amount of anger he had, was inexplicable. He had come in terms with the older man being there, in his village, his home. He had even accepted the fact that his own mother was willing to shelter him for as long as it was going it take. Still!   Donghae hit his head once more.   Still... he couldn't pinpoint what was it exactly that was making his blood boil and rush hot through his veins every time that idiot was flashing that ridiculous smile at him.        I must be losing my mind. Day after day up here, in this forgotten -hole...       Of course, those were all desperate excuses. He knew it well. The young man was aware of the real reason behind his frustration. It was looming around the corners of his mind, ready to take over him in the slightest sign of lowered defenses.       "Bull..." he murmured again and his voice was met with the hissing sound of the black water.       Denial is one of the strongest weapons the brain possesses. It is mostly used unconsciously and by everyone, at some point of their lives. A completely normal mechanism of the human race. It becomes dangerous though, when you're using it knowing that, what you're denying, is actually the truth. Then, it becomes something twisted and ugly, and it prevents you from enjoying life.       What is enjoyment then, huh?       Donghae's head shot up, his lips painfully pressed together. His knuckles were white and his chest was aching, throbbing with the need to release the breath the brunet was holding. At last, Donghae let go, his lungs hungrily processing the oxygen that instantly reached them.   It wasn't like he hadn't thought about it before. This kind of mind-frame began forming shortly after the black-haired man arrived from the city. He tried thrashing the idea, the younger really did. But then again, what was there for him to lose? Donghae tapped his thumb against his teeth, his eyebrows knitted together.       What is there for me to lose?       The answer was easy and yet, it wasn't. First of all, there was his mother. What the young man wanted to do, was sure to crush her and disappoint her greatly. After all, she cared for him and Donghae was about to...       Stop it! - he commanded himself and shook his head.       Sighing for the umpteenth time that night, the brunet laid back on the smooth rock, his arms folded under his head. He gazed at the sky again, hoping to catch even the tiniest hint of a star's gleam. Searching persistently, he spotted a few dots peeking behind a lone cloud. A smile spread on his still boyish features.       "I guess that's it then," he said, speaking aloud more for the comfort his own voice provide, than the close his words indicated.       He didn't need to say it, or even ponder further on the issue. It was all decided. It must have been since the day Donghae let the other man to sit beside him, talk to him, tell him more about his life. That had been the turning point. The brunet exhaled with relief. He knew people would get hurt by his actions. Even so, it was about time for him to act egoistically for once in his life. Doing the same things year after year, talking to the same people, watch the same scenery change according to the weather's orders... Enough already!   Donghae wanted - no... needed, craved! - a change. And as if god-sent, Hyukjae
