I Can't Handle Love

Sungyeol invited Sunggyu into the apartment, even though Sungyeol still had no idea who Sunggyu was in his life. He didn’t remember any Sunggyu. He felt even guiltier as Sunggyu smiled at him as he sat down. I wonder if he knows that I’ve forgotten him.

Sunggyu embarrassingly smiled at Sungyeol. “Don’t strain yourself trying to remember me. You didn’t know me before the accident. I think you probably heard my name once or twice maybe, but we never met before.”

Sungyeol looked at Sunggyu weirdly. If I don’t know this man, then how does he know me?

“I’m sorry, but how do you know me then?”

Sunggyu laughed softly, “I…was one of Myungsoo’s friends.”

Sungyeol smiled. “Oh! You’re one of Myunggie’s friends? He should’ve been home to let you in…” he said, looking around the house.

Sunggyu didn’t know how Sungyeol could be smiling when talking about such a thing. Didn’t he just wake up two days ago? I cried for days when…Myungsoo died… Sunggyu was confused as he saw Sungyeol go into the kitchen. He looked like he was looking for someone. Sunggyu pitied the younger man. He must still believe he’s alive…

“Ah!” Sungyeol yelled out.

Sunggyu stood up immediately and ran to the kitchen. “Is something wrong?!”

Sungyeol turned around smiling. “Myunggie’s going to be right back! I just found a note on the counter from him,” he chuckled, “his writing’s changed since I’ve been gone.”

Sunggyu now thought that Sungyeol was really delusional. Dead people can’t write notes.

He leaned over the counter. “Can I see that note?”

Sungyeol nodded and handed him the note.

Sunggyu was looking over the note when the door opened.

Sungyeol jumped up from his seat and almost ran to the door. “Myunggie’s home!”

Woohyun heard Sungyeol’s voice and smiled, somewhat sadly. He set his stuff down and walked towards the kitchen to where he had heard Sungyeol’s voice come from. When he got there though, his heart almost stopped.

Sunggyu…what is he doing here? Wait…did he tell Sungyeol anything?

Sunggyu turned around to see Woohyun. He was shocked.

“Woo-“

“Sunggyu!!!” Woohyun interrupted. He ran over and gave him a look, before giving him a tight hug, hoping that Sunggyu would understand and shut up.

He did. Sunggyu pulled away from the hug slowly, looking at Woohyun and then to Sungyeol, who had the biggest grin on his face.

Woohyun took a step towards Sungyeol and smiled. Sungyeol put his hands on his waist and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

Sungyeol looked at Woohyun and noticed that his eyes were a little different. He seemed worried. “Myungsoo…are you okay?”

Woohyun took a quick glance at Sunggyu, who suddenly stood up from his chair, having figured the situation out. Sunggyu was appalled.

Woohyun looked back at the worried Sungyeol. He feigned a smile. “Yeah, don’t worry Sungyeol. Everything’s alright…can I talk to Sunggyu for a moment though? We’ll go out into the hallway if that’s okay.”

Sungyeol looked over at Sunggyu, a short look of jealously flashed before his eyes before he leaned over to Woohyun and gave him another kiss on the lips. He smiled at Woohyun and let go of his waist.

“Okay,” he said smiling, “Don’t take too long though, okay Myunggie?”

Woohyun gripped Sungyeol’s hand and squeezed it in reassurance. “Okay, I’ll be right back.”

Sunggyu looked at Woohyun weirdly, before starting to make his way to the hallway, understanding why Woohyun would want to talk to him alone.

Woohyun closed the door behind them and took a look at Sunggyu. Sunggyu stared at him right in the eyes, slightly scaring the younger.

“Why?” Sunggyu asked, breaking the silence.

“Why what…” Woohyun said quietly, looking at the ground. He didn’t dare look into Sunggyu’s eyes. He was far too ashamed.

Sunggyu’s voice rose, “Why did you lie to him? Did you think that you could keep this façade forever? Are you out of your right mind Woohyun?!?”

Woohyun continued to stare at the ground, Sunggyu’s words piercing through his heart. I lied to him because I love him. I would keep pretending my whole life if it meant that Sungyeol would love me. No, I’m not sane right now.

Those were the words that stayed in his throat. He couldn’t say them. He couldn’t even defend himself as Sunggyu continued to scold him.

“Are you crazy?!? Do you think this is what Sungyeol wants? You’re not Myungsoo! Do you think this is what Myungsoo wants?!? What do you think you’re doing?”

Woohyun’s heart broke again. “I-I know…” he whispered softly.

“What exactly do you know Woohyun? This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. Do you think this is love?”

“I-I know…that I’m not Myungsoo… I know.”

Sunggyu put his hand on his head. He didn’t understand what was going through Woohyun’s head. Sunggyu loved Myungsoo, but he would never do something like this.

The two of them stayed silent for a moment. The chidings that Sunggyu gave Woohyun were going through Woohyun’s head, his heart feeling how pathetic he really was.

Sunggyu sighed. “You have to tell him.”

Woohyun exhaled loudly, closing his eyes.

“I know.”
