This is War!

An Unexpected Reunion

I was currently sitting down in a rotating chair while Min Young was out on the dance floor with Soohyun. This club was just like the others. I sighed loudly to myself and took a drink of the water that the bartender gave to me. Unexpectedly, I felt a hand creep up on my back. "What's a pretty girl like you doing here all by yourself?" a bearded man chortled out.

I just sat there, wide-eyed. "Come on, don't be like that," he cooed, his hand beginning to go lower...

"Kyary! Where were you? I've been looking everywhere for you!" an angelic voice that I heard too many times shouted. Kevin quickly came into my vision, pulled the man's hand off of me, and wrapped his arm around my waist. Thank God for Kevin!

Kevin eyed the man from head to toe. "Yah! Did you just touch my girlfriend?" I tensed up while in his grip. 'His girlfriend'? It had a nice ring to it, I had to admit.

"Oh sorry, man!" He put his hands of defensively.

"Whatever--just leave," Kevin replied coolly. The man left off into the large crowd to our right.

I looked up at Kevin, then studied the ground abruptly. He immediately took his arm off of me as soon as the guy was no longer visible. "Hey, are you o-okay?" he questioned, looking away as his cheeks grew pink. "Yeah," I quietly responded. He took a seat in the chair next to mine. He began to start up a conversation,"So, what're you doing these days?"

"I've pretty much been the same. I went to college, as planned, and got a job as an accountant."

He presented a beam. "How'd you end up in Seoul?"

"Our office moved and they asked me to join them," I replied, taking another sip of my water. "Have you met up with your parents much?" I blurted out, feeling regretful soon afterwards, considering his relationship with his mother and father wasn't exactly the best.

He laughed awkwardly. "Oh yeah! They always come down for holidays and stuff."

I surveyed his eyes. "You're lying," I unexpectedly let out. Man, was I not in control of my mouth today, or what?

His fiddled with his fingers. "You could always tell..." He let out an uncomfortable sigh. "Hey, listen...I had something I really wanted to tell you when we were younger. I was about to tell you, but we got interrupted last time." I saw a flicker in his eyes. "Kyary, I wanted to tell you--"

"Hey!*Hic* Kyary!" someone screamed practically in my ear. I looked over to find Dongho. It was quite clear that he found something to sip. "I was beginning to wonder where you wandered off to."

I awkwardly laughed, still wanting to hear what Kevin had to say. "Umm, Dongho? We were kinda in the middle of something," Kevin muttered. Dongho just giggled and hiccuped in response. He turned his eyes over to me. "You look really pretty tonight, honey~," he cooed. He got really close and my eyes widened wide as I felt his soft lips against my cheek. My face went crazy red and I heard Kevin make a frustrated noise.

I'm never going to a club again.

"I'm getting tired. Perhaps I should go," Kevin said, already standing up, not even waiting for a response.

"Wait..." I reached out and tugged on his shirt's sleeve. I then remembered I used to do that all of the time when I could tell Kevin was upset. "Maybe I should walk with you. We need to catch up," I found myself saying. I even winked. Did someone slip something in my drink? I'm being rather obnoxious. Kevin looked at me for a moment, then shrugged. "Sure." I felt a little hurt by the simple word. There was no 'yeah, that would be great.' I bit my lip and followed him.

We conversed over how our lives were going since we had last seen each other. Kevin's responses where almost always one-worded. Eventually, we arrived at my apartment.

"Hey, thanks for walking me home." I bowed.

Kevin gave me a confused look. "You live here? I live just down the street from this complex!" he exclaimed, his eyes bulging. I studied him with my eyes a little before replying with, "Are you serious?" He gave a quick nod. Crap, fate's really been playing with me lately. I actually felt happy about this. So I might be able to pretty much see Kevin every day, or at least week? Score. Now, if I could only get rid of how snobbish he's been acting, I'd be set.

"How about I show you my room sometime, then?" I asked him. "Yeah, let's do that sometime," he calmly responded.

He took my phone out of my purse and started typing something into it. He handed my phone back to me. "Here's my number. Now, you type in your's," he stated casually, handing me his phone. I did the same. "I'll contact you whenever I'm free." I was satisfied, considering his attitude had seemed to improve. What even made him mad in the first place?

"O-okay," I stuttered out. We then parted our ways and headed towards our homes.

~~~
I couldn't really get to sleep properly that night. I kept on tossing and turning every now and then. Did Kevin really live just down the street from me? Was he asleep right now? Had I seen him before whenever I had went out?
I'd really love to sleep in the same bed as him...Man, I'm such a creeper. Maybe if I fluffed my pillow it would help. I had no luck with that. I decided to call Min Young. I was expecting for her to be in bed by now, considering it was like 4 A.M., but she didn't sound tired in the least.
"Oh! Kyary!" she spoke, sounding surprised. I could clearly tell that someone was with her. I heard a deep voice almost immediately after she finished talking.
"Yeah," I muttered. "Who're you with? It seems that someone else is there."
"Heheh! That's just Eli!" she annoyingly giggled out.
I sighed deeply into the phone. "I can't seem to get any sleep. Somethi--well--someone has been on my mind..."
She laughed again. "Kevin?"
I could feel my cheeks redden. Was it really that obvious? "Uhuh...," I shyly let out.
"You're so cute~! I'm guessing that you're wanting tips on how to get him to like you, huh?"
"Well..."
I could tell that she was smirking by the tone of her voice. "First off, you're sounding way too desperate! How come you didn't mention that you'd gotten into relationships with other men after he left?"
I actually didn't see anyone after he had left. I was still considered a dork at school and pretty much everywhere else. I didn't want to date anyone else, anyways. I only wanted Kevin. I really can't believe that I had forgotten about him. I decided to play it cool with Min Young and I replied with, "I just didn't think about it."
"You've got to make him jealous! How about you start putting the moves on that Dongho guy?"
"What? You don't like him?" I inquired. Min Young literally did date every single guy that she set her eyes on.
"Naw, he's too innocent. He's perfect for you~!"
I couldn't help but feel bad about this. Making Kevin jealous, just to get him to realize some feelings for me, was just... He probably wouldn't even have any in the first place, though. This was pretty much the only way to do it without making me look like a total loser, too, though.
"I gu-guess that I will," I let out through a huff, finally giving in.
"Great! I'll set something up for you on the weekend, then!" she sang. After speaking, she hung up.
What did I just get myself into?
~~~

*Okay, I'm going to make this next part in Kevin's POV~.*

Finally. I'm finally home. I slammed down onto my bed and began to stare up at the ceiling. What was she doing right now? Was she thinking about me? Probably not. I imagine that Dongho's the only one in her thoughts right now. I scoffed to myself. I've wanted to tell her that I've loved her ever since I was little, but I was always interrupted. Why did someone always have to go and get in the way?

Abruptly, I heard my doorbell go off. Who was visiting me this late in the night? I sat up in my bed, went to my door, and was surprised at who I saw.

"Min Young?"

She presented a beam and entered my house, without my consent. "Yo, Kevin!" she sang. I don't want to be rude, but why was she here? Could I just persuade her to leave, or something? She is Kyary's friend, though... I might as well at least listen to what she had to say. She smiled once more, before saying, "I've got a proposition for you!"I awkwardly grinned back. "And may I ask what is that?" I questioned.

"I know that you like Kyary, it's pretty apparent with the way that you act around her." My heart sank. Did she really know that I did? I couldn't help but feel nervous whenever I responded with, "Re-really?" She nodded.

"That's why you have to make her think that you've got your ways with the ladies..." I just blankly stared at her. "How about I set you up on a date with someone from her office and you make her jealous?"

I was immediately taken aback by this sudden proposal. I didn't want to hurt her in any way, but...this might be my only chance to get her to realize any feelings for me that she might have. I pondered over it for a long time, then finally I came to my conclusion.

"I might as well."

She chortled evilly at this. "Let the show begin."

"What did you say?"

"N-nothing~!"

*End of Kev's POV.*

~~~
I couldn't focus straight for the next few days. I was either dropping things, or spacing out. I even earned the name 'Butterfingers' from my boss.
I was actually looking forward to my date with Dongho. Strangely, the date came by faster than expected. I was at the park, wearing a strange, yellow sundress that Min Young had picked out for me. The bench that I was sitting on was surprisingly comfy. I waited for a while, when I suddenly heard some yelling.
"Hey! Sorry for being late, Noona!" Dongho screamed from behind me. He took a seat next to me on the bench. He was wearing one of those cute straw hats that a lot of ulzzangs (flower boys) have been wearing lately. I literally thought that I was going to die from just pure cuteness. Dongho let out a giggle before saying, "You look really pretty today..." Someone just kill me now. I could tell that he felt bad for being late just by looking at his face.
"It's all right, Dongho," I told him, but he just shook his head. "No, it's not. I'll make it up to you," he stated, leaving me to go somewhere.
That boy was just so... I chuckled to myself. I looked over across from me to see a cute couple. I wonder what it would be like if me and Kevin were like that? I just shook my head. He didn't like me.
I found myself beginning to study the couple closer. The girl was extremely pretty; her legs were thin and her hair was long. Actually, I think that she was from the same office as me. I can't seem to remember her name, though... The boy looked extremely familiar. It was almost as if I had seen him somewhere, too... I examined his facial features and gasped whenever I finally had realized just who exactly he was.
"Kevin?"
Was it really him? Kevin was on a date with someone else?
I felt like I had just been stabbed in the chest. So this was how it felt to be jealous? I felt just terrible. I knew that I shouldn't have agreed to this. This was stupid. I hated this feeling, and making someone else feel the same way that I was feeling was just too cruel. I could feel tears begin to surface in my eyes. I just couldn't believe this.
Dongho quickly came running over, two drinks in his hands. "Kyary-ah!" he yelled out as he made his way over to me. I wiped away my tears and looked up at him. "Oh, Dongho," I muttered out, trying to sound as cheerful as possible. He took a seat next to me and handed me a drink. "Here. Hopefully that will make up for my lateness." He sounded so mature for his age. I kept my eyes on him, trying to block out the couple from across the street from my vision. I took the canned drink from his hand.
"Hey, are you alright?" he questioned and I just nodded in response. "My allergies are just bothering me."
His eyes widened. "Oh." I couldn't help but look across the street after he had said that. Kevin and the girl were holding hands while they were sitting down. I could feel my chest tighten just at the mere sight of it. I could hear Dongho's voice by my ear, "What're you looking at?"
I immediately moved in front of him. "Nothing! Nothing at all!" I was having enough at this. I noticed Kevin glancing over in my direction. He should be experiencing the pain that I was having right now. I looked at Dongho in the eyes. "Thank you for the drink," I kissed him on the cheek. I tried my best not to smirk when I felt Kevin make a sudden movement.
"What is it?" I heard the girl ask, a little concerned. Kevin put his hand on her arm. "Don't worry about it," he said all flirtatiously. I ground my teeth together. Oh, it is soooo on. I scooted closer to Dongho, crossed my legs together, and asked, "Should we go for some ice cream?"
I could hear him gulp. "I-if you wa-want to, I don't mind." I latched onto Dongho's arm and couldn't help but notice Kevin stand up with the girl as well.
Bring it on, Kevin.
