MUSICAL MAYHEM

On Music And Love [COMPLETED]
Jie smiled at Hazel. She was staring at a theater audition poster on the bulletin board.
“I want to join that.” She declared.
Hazel sighed. “Yeah, right for the sake of Yamada Ryosuke.”
Jie laughed at her friend. “Of course.”
All her friends knew that she was obsessed with Ryosuke. That was also the reason why she didn’t have a love life because her love life is her Ryosuke.
Hazel’s eyeball rotated in her eyes. “Girl, don’t waste your time with that gay. He is not worth it.”
Jie stared at her friend angrily. They kept on telling her that Ryosuke was gay but of course they didn’t understand the guy at all.
“He is not gay. He is just friendly.” She declared.
“Yeah, right. Too friendly to be super close with the touchy-touchy ever effect to Chinen Yuri. That was really friendly.” Hazel shook her head in disappointment. Her friend was really blind when it comes to her desperate admiration for the Yamada guy.
“Shut up! I told you they are best friends.” Jie exclaimed.
“Fine, whatever! Just don’t go crying to us if Chinen confirmed that Yamada is admirable both in TV and in bed.”
“Eh. How can you say that?!”
Hazel just shrugged her shoulders.
“Whatever.” Jie shrugged. “But I’ll definitely get a spot on this play.”
Hazel looked at the poster. “Hmm… well, if you ask me. Joining this kind of activity will be good for you but the motivation is not really right.”
“Shut up!”
Hazel just laughed at her friend.

Hikaru was seated on one of the chairs in their theatre. It was cozy and comfortable yet he was feeling a bit nervous and out-of-place. It was not really his thing to join theatrical auditions. It seemed so cheap when he thinks of his reason to why he was there on the first place.
When Hikaru learned from Hazel that Jie would be joining the audition, he saw to it that he would also join.
He had been head-over-heels crazy towards Jie but she never paid him any attention. He even tried courting her parents but nothing happened. She was too engrossed with Yamada Ryosuke to even look at him. She was near yet seemed so far.

He sighed. He was really pathetic. He even pitied himself for being totally stupidly in love with a girl who was in love with an idol.

He would never had thought to join the damn play if he didn’t hear from Hazel that Yamada Ryosuke was the lead actor in it. Hikaru was afraid that the Yamada guy would fall for Jie.

Jie was not just a simple girl. She was awesome. Her voice was really unique and amazing. She was also very pretty. She was petite, fair and beautiful. Her eyes were her first asset before you notice the small cute nose and pink small lips. She was like an angel. She could catch the attention of any man if she wanted to.

Hikaru was afraid of that. It was enough that she had a huge crush on Yamada Ryosuke but catching his attention would be too much for him.

Hikaru’s attention went back to the stage. Jie was walking in the middle of the stage. She faced the audience. She seemed to be nervous yet she composed herself.

“What will you show us, Suzuki Jie, is it?” one of the judges who was fat and a little balding asked her.

“I can sing and dance.” Jie answered.

Hikaru sighed. Jie was really talented but she didn’t like to join the school activities. This was one of those rare times which she was well-motivated to do it.

“Very well, you may start.” The judge said.

Jie started to sing. It was an English song “Only Hope” by Mandy Moore. She sang with all her heart. The melody was very smooth.

Jie was just so pretty.

When she’s done the judges clapped. The one who asked her earlier stood up. “We already saw our leading lady. Welcome to the play.” He declared.

Jie’s eyes grew wide in shock so was Hikaru’s who was almost standing up from his seat.

The audience was still clapping at the announcement when Hikaru found his composure. He sat properly only to hear his name being called.

“Yaotome Hikaru.” One of the judges called.

Hikaru stood up. He must also be a part of the play. He has to.

Hikaru stepped on the stage. He heard some girls giggling on the bleachers. He sighed. He knew why those girls were there. They just wanted to see him. He knew that he had quite some charm but then he would be satisfied if it was Jie who would giggle like that.

“Ohayou.” He started. “Yaotome Hikaru desu. Yoroshiku.” He said.

“Ohayou. Yaotome-kun. Gambatte.” It was the man in who seemed to be the leader of the judges who said that. “You’ve already watched one of the lead characters go to that girl, how about you, what can you show us?” the judge asked.

“I can juggle.” Hikaru said confidently.

One of the judges tilted her head. One went over to some papers which probably was the script.

“Hontou?” The balding judge asked. “What else?”

“I can flex the muscles of my face.” Hikaru answered.

The girls on the bleachers giggled more. Hikaru smiled at them which made some of them even shriek.

“I can see that you’ve got admirers out in the back.” The judge commented. Hikaru smiled at him showing him imperfect yet cute teeth. “How about singing? Do you sing?” he asked.

Hikaru thought for a while. He did sing, in the bathroom but he heard that he had a fairly good voice though he didn’t know if he could even get in having that.

The man was staring at him waiting for his answer.

“Hai.” Hikaru said solemnly not really sure of himself.

“Okei, let’s listen to it.” The judge announced.

Hikaru went over his head and picked up a song entitled “Flame of Love.” He started singing it. He was looking at the judges checking on their reactions. He couldn’t understand their expressions so he continued. He even tried to shut up his eyes and opened it only when he was done singing.

He heard his loyal fans screaming and cheering him on. He looked at the judges, they were smiling at him.

“I guess you just landed a role in the play.” The main judge said. “Congratulations.”

Hikaru’s eyes opened wide. He did it? By singing? How? He bowed and went down the stage.

“I didn’t know you had a pretty good voice.” Jmee, another one of Jie’s friends commented. It was her father’s company which will be producing the play so she was there to check it.

“Hai. I didn’t know either.” He said back.

Jmee laughed at him. “Congratulations, then.” She said.

“Arigatou.” Hikaru answered and walked away.

He passed Jie who was staring at him. He smiled at her. He was sure now that he would be able to check on her since they would be together on practices.

Hikaru just came from the practice of the period play which he joined. His body was aching since he got the antagonist. They made him study sword fighting and other martial arts. He was even asked to study tumbling and back flips.

He was also asked to study a song that he would be singing solo for the play.

He was really busy with it that he didn’t even got a chance to check on Jie. Jie had her own practices since they were still studying their solo song and dance.

Hikaru didn’t even know that he had such a talent in singing that he landed in one of the main role.

He was about to open the door to their house when a hand touched his shoulder.

He looked behind him only to receive a punch in the stomach. He groaned in pain. “What the heck?” he asked.

“Be thankful that your mama told me that you joined a theater play or else that would go to your face.” A girl with chinky eyes, small lips and nose said. She was almost as tall as he is, only leaner.

“What?” Hikaru asked in annoyance.

“What do you mean what?” the girl asked. “You left your trash in front of my boarding house.” She complained.

“Then you should have brought it to the gate to be picked up by the garbage truck.”

“Do you expect me to do that?” she asked angrily.

“Ms. Peng, that is exactly why I left it there.” Hikaru answered as if it was the right thing to say.

Jessica Peng glared at him. Her fist rounded in a ball. She moved it towards his body again but he moved away from it. Another punch came but he ducked it. What he weren’t able to swerve from was when she moved her leg and kicked him on his left thigh.

Hikaru went down to the floor grasping his aching thigh. “You are so mean…” he complained.

Jessica smiled at his pitiful stature. “Bleeh…” she said sticking out her tongue to him and walking away back to her boarding house.
