Take Me Away (Chapter 1)

Take Me Away

Kiseop POV

Do you ever wake up in the morning, open the blinds and stare out the window thinking how today your life will change. You're not sure how or why you feel this way but you just do. That was bascially how I felt this morning as I got ready for school, first of all I couldn't sleep at all last night and when I woke up to my alarm clock I just...just felt like there was a change heading my way. A BIG change.

The walk to school was the same though, met up with Eli  and Kevin on the way, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. When I entered the school Soohyun handed me the lyrics to our new song but once again nothing life changing. Except the school had this weird buzz, there was talk about a new student that had just arrived, and I didn't blame for everyone to gossip about it, it was  unusual for us to get a transfer student in the middle of the semester.

The feeling kept getting stronger as I neared my first period class, everything was in the same spot, my classmates still had their names so what exactly was I expecting. Maybe I wanted a dragon to appear out of no where and tell me I was the knight chosen to save the world. Hmph, yeah right..talk about dreaming. I dropped my bag on my groups desk and walked over to the cabinet to grab my film camera. Our new assigment was approaching, Ms. Wu wanted us to start loading our cameras and picking our models for the protrait project. We had to be creative, use our minds and create a unique and interesting protrait. Pfft.

Then it happened, my heart rate started to increase when my principal entered the photography room.

"Ms. Wu I'll like to introduce you to the newest addition to your classroom. Now don't be shy, please come in." A tiny petite figure walked through the door frame and literally ran to the front-center of the room. Ms. Wu took the transfered student forum and signed it, approving of her existence in the class. So this must have been the student everyone was talking about, I had to admit with her thick wavy dark brown hair braided to the side, skin lighter then mine, and almond shaped eyes, she was pretty cute.  Now don't go thinking I have fallen for her, she is way out of my boundaries for my perfect girl, I rather have someone who is tall, beautiful and has the right curves.

"Class please settle down. I'd like to introduce Yuri to our class. Would you like to say anything." Ms. Wu turned her head to the girl and smiled. The girl took in a deep breathe.

"My name is Yuri. I recently have been studying overseas because of my parents work but now I have returned to back to Korea." She ended her speech with throwing the peace sign at the class.

"Yuri if you'd like you can take a seat at Kevin's group." Ms. Wu pointed my way. No I couldn't have her sit with Kevin, Dongho and I, it'd ruin my image. In school Kevin and I were known to the perfect couple in school, but we were aren't gay which is funny because I have no idea how people came up with such an idea. Kevin thinks it's cute because he's said to be the girl in our relationship, which I can see since he does have some feminie points.

"Wow! You know you're small but it's a cute small you know." Kevin leaned over to Yuri as she took her seat next to him. She flinched for a second at the comment made about her height but seemed to throw it off. She greeted Dongho and took out her binder, I stared at her for most of the class. I didn't feel right sharing my table with her, she gave off this weird aura. I really hope she isn't the one who will start this change, I rather have a bird on my head then have her sit here. As Kevin shared his notes with her to catch up, Dongho was asking her questions.

"So Yuri, tell us where overseas you studied?"

"New York. My dad's buisness opened a new branch down there so we took a year off to help it settle down." I squinted at her.

"What does your dad for a living?" I had to ask.

She turned my way and I swear she had the hugest grin on her face.

"We own the clothing store SweetHearts." Kevin nearly had a heartattack, Dongho and I laughed. SweetHearts was his favourite store to shop at, don't let the name decieve you, it isn't just frilly girly clothes, it caterers to mens fashion also. She probably didn't understand why he was having a spasm but she joined in.

"GET OUT! I LOVE THAT STORE." Kevin nearly screamed.

"We should go there together sometimes. Oh right, I nearly forgot! Do you guys know Jung DaeHyun?" Yuri put her pencil down, and had on this serious face. The rest of us at our table just froze. Jung DaeHyun was our bands rival. He was part of this like aggressive rap group called BAP, I'd admit for amateurs they were good but UKISS has been around longer then them. We had more experience and a bigger fandom in this high school. Kevin shifted in his seat and cleared his thoart.

"Uhm yes we kinda do know him? How do you know of him."

"Oh he's my childhood friend, I e-mailed him a few weeks ago saying I was coming back but he hasn't replied." She  looked disappointed. Poor girl, probably got her heartbroken, must have been unrequited love. Just like that the bell rang for us to move onto the next period. Yuri packed up her bag and headed out the door until Kevin grabbed her arm.

"Hey wanna have lunch with us?"

"Uhmm..sure?" Like that she was out of the room. I watched as her skirt swayed with each step she took, she was small but indeed cute. Yuri  seemed interesting and I wasn't going to let her out of my sight. Kevin grabbed my hand and on we were to our next class.

Yuri POV

These halls are so unfamilar to me, the students are all from the same racial background so I feel come comfortable here. Then again, understand I was like the only  Korean in my high school back in New York, so of course I'd feel like I belong here more. I didn't really get along with the people back there, my English was horrible, and most of the girls avoided me because of my skin tone which may I say is very rude. Thank gosh I ain't with those people anymore. The horrible side to transferring is that I have to learn the halls of a whole new school, but I did make some new friends. Dongho looked cute in in his bowl haircut but I feel like I was interrupting a moment between Kevin and Kiseop. Kiseop had quite the big eyes for a Korean guy,  yet if you stared at them, they were serious and determined. His cheek bones were beautiful, a face of a model if you'd ask me. I've seen a lot of Korean guys and none of them stood out like Kiseop, well I lied because Daehyun is just as good looking.

These school halls are truly confusing I can't even find the cafeteria, and you'd think it would be the easiet room to find in a school with three floors. Yeah right! I would ask someone for directions but that's to embrassing for someone on the first day, if only I hadn't forgotten the school map in my Math class. Maybe I should just turn around and retrace my steps to the classroom or hope someone noticed I had forgotten it and came chasing down the halls for me.

"YURI! YURIIIII! YAH YURI!" I could hear footsteps fast approaching, someone was running towards me. I turned around and from the corner of the hall came a rushing figure. It wasn't until the person bumped into me that I noticed it was a girl..a really pretty girl. She seemed tall, I couldn't tell since she had just fallen, nice slender legs and long aubrun hair. The auburn hair girl regained her balance from the fall, brushed some dust off her pants and helped me up.

"I am so sorry! You see you forgot this map and then you were already outside the classroom...You walk pretty fast ya'know." The girl was trying to catch her breathe. I grabbed the map from her hand and thanked her. Was she in my Math class? I didn't even notice, she's to pretty for me to notice.

"Oh right! True you're still new so you probably don't know my name. I'm Uee. You circled the cafe with a big circle on the map so I'm guessing you can't find it. Come with me I'll show you I'll even introduce you to my friends." I didn't even have a chance to say if I even wanted to sit with her at lunch, I believe I did promise Kevin. When I looked back at Uee she was already halfway done the hall, and she said I walked fast.

I have to admit, a school built like a labyrinth had such a gorgeous and spacious cafeteria. On the walls had paintings of the schools mascot, a knight, covered in art work by students and filled with advertisments from companies. It looked like a school of fish because it was packed, it reminded me of the K-pop concerts I attended when I was I was little. Uee led me through the swarm of students, I'm just glad the wave didn't push be back since I was so small. I heard familar voices, a males voice which seemed a bit high pitched..where have I heard it before? It wasn't until we approached the table I  noticed the voice belonged to Kevin!

"AH! Yuri~ah!! Come come , sit beside me and Kiseop." I swear Kevin must have type O blood because he's always excited. He yanked me by the arm yet again and guided me to the spot in between Kiseop and him. I nodded in greeting to Kiseop and only got  a Hmph back from him. Bad day maybe?

"So this is the transferred student that caused such a buzz. You're cute." The compliment came from the boy who sat in front of me, he had blonde hair and some really nice eyebrows.

"I'm Eli. On my right is Soohyun, and on my left is AJ. Hoon and Dongho are in line buying lunch so they'll join us shortly." Eli seemed nice, but his blonde hair reminded me a lot of Daehyun. Daehyun why hadn't he replied to my e-mail? I know we didn't depart the way friends should have but I was really excited knowing I would see him again. Kevin poked my cheeks, was my frown that obivous?

"Why the frown? Tell oppa what's wrong?" Amber sat beside Kiseop and nudged him in the elbow  laughing. I wonder what was so funny.

"I can't call you oppa if you don't know my birthday! What if I'm older then you?" Now my eyes were wandering around the cafe, searching for Daehyun.

"My birthday is November 25th." Soohyun snatched a piece of Kevin's lunch and laughed.

"Oh I'm June 21. Told you I can't call you oppa...you know on second thought fine. I'd feel bad if I didn't." He looked so hurt when I said I was older, it was like he was expecting me to be younger. I remembered I hadn't brought a lunch to school, to rushed in the morning. Ugh! Now I had to get up in front of all these people and buy something. Kiseop shifted in his seat next to me and got up.

"Kiseop!!! Buy me a soda will you." AJ yelled at him. While everyone was munching on their lunches I stood up and followed him.

"Wait for me! I need to buy a lunch either way, I forgot mine at home." I quickly caught up with his pace. Kiseop had this look as if I was already a nuisance to him because when he stopped dead in his tracks his eyes glared at me. After a second he nodded his head in the direction of the cafe signaling for me to hurry up. I probably wasn't paying attention as to where I was going because I slammed straight into someone. The impact was so huge that both of us lost balance, and the person had lost grip on his lunch tray. You might know what came next. The person's lunch flew in the air and landed on my new floral top. It took me a few minutes to process the fact I had someone else lunch on my shirt. I looked up to see the boy freaking out and apologizing, he was acting as if the world was going to end. His hair was dyed a pink colour set in a perm and his eyes truly looked quilty. I heard a laugh, then another and everyone started to join in. My face was red from embrassement, I knew this was going to happen, I knew something bad was going to happen since Daehyun was by my side. Someone yanked me up by the elbow, I looked up and saw Kiseop..he was pissed. All I felt was a breeze past by me as Kiseop rushed at the boy.

"HEY! WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!" Kiseop grabbed the boy by the collar of his sweater and yelled in his face.

"Hey look I said I was sorry! I didn't even notice she was there, she's so small!" The boy looked over Kiseop's shoulder at me. I covered my face with my hands, I felt a water work coming on. Kiseop didn't have to get so angry. I heard Kevin and Eli's voice telling him to stop.

"You'd do anything to piss off our group wouldn't you." Kiseop kept shaking the boy.

"YAH! STOP! KISEOP" Kevin passed me some napkins to wipe of the ramen off. Kiseop raised his hand and aimed it right in the boys face. He would have given him a black eye is some didn't rush at Kiseop knocking him down.

"Zelo said he was sorry! Are you tone-deaf or something." The tears that strolled down my face stopped, that voice it sounded familar. I looked around, Kevin, Eli and Kiseop all stared at me. In front of me kneeled a boy with brown hair,  and almond shaped eyes just like mine. I couldn't help but jump at him.

Daehyun POV

It felt like as if a strong breeze had blown me over, a strong yet soft breeze. Along with the breeze came a few raindrops and a strong bear hug. I released my grip on Kiseop so I could turn around to see who was causing me to lose my breath. From the view I was getting all I could see was a huge ball of braided hair, who was this person? Why were they crying?

"Dae--DAEHYUNN!" The ball of hair shot up and with teary eyes yelled my name.

"YAH! DAEHYUN WHY DIDN'T YOU REPLY TO MY E-MAIL!" Ball of thick hair? Uncontrollable outburst of emotion? Small and petite? E-mail?

"AH YURI! Yuri is that you? Have you gotten shorter?" I couldn't believe it! Yuri was back, it feels like it's been a lifetime since I last saw her. Little over  year and a half ago Yuri called me out to our usual meeting spot in the forest to tell me a big secret. She said it was important  so of course I would rush over there without thinking twice. I knew from the moment I saw her I was about to hear some bad news, bad news that she'd want me to keep a secret from all her other friends. There was no exchange in words between the two of us, I embraced her in a hug and listened to the sobbing sounds she made. It felt like hours later until she finally wiped the tears that fell from her small face. I motioned for us both to sit on the log that was near by, this way Yuri wouldn't notice my nervousness.

"Daehyun-ah! You know I'll be going overseas soon." Yuri looked up towards the dark winter sky and inhaled a breath of cold soothing air. I truly thought she was the most beautiful girl, I didn't care if she was short.

"I heard it from the teacher today." My voice cracked, I couldn't help it. My best friend was about to move thousands of miles away from me. The depressing part was she planned on telling me this at the last moment, I know Yuri like the back of my hand. She knew I'd refuse of her leaving me behind, and not agree to anything.

"Dad is opening another branch in New York and this time he wants to take my mom and me. I..I didn't want this, you know that." She finally had the courage to turn my way to face me. My hand reached for hers but it froze, frozen in time. I was scared I was never going to see Yuri again, that is why I didn't reach out any farther. If I did I would have held on to something that could leave me forever. I pinched my nose trying to hold the tears back.

"It'd only be for a year and then I'll come back!" I stood up, I didn't want to see Yuri leave and she knew that. A year, two years , what difference did it make! I was so upset that I just ran out of that forest, ran through the cold winter streets thinking the cold air would help cool my head down. Later that night when I returned to the spot she was gone, I ran once again this time to her house. No lights. I ran to the back thinking she'd leave the screendoor open for me like she always did. It was locked. She really left. She really did. That's why seeing her right now, in the flesh after a year inside the cafe I couldn't help but crack a joke. It felt nice on my tongue.

"Don't avoid the question stupid!" She punched my arm. The sudents attention was still directed at the little fuss we had created. I pushed Yuri off me so I could stand and help Zelo who was still sitting down. He was amazed at Yuri's height that he had forgotten to wipe his drool, for a guy younger then me, he truly is odd. I heard Yongguk pushing sudents and teachers aside so he could arrive at the crime scene.

"YAH! What happened here? Zelo wipe that drool of your face, cmon you look like a pig." Yongguk took the sleeve of his shirt to clean his mouth.

"Kevin! I've told you a million times! We won't bother you if Kiseop would just go cool his head in a tub of cold water!" That was our leader, hot-headed as usual. I peeked a glance at Yuri just to see her reaction to our leader's deep voice. Indeed she was mesmerized.

"HEY! Who said I started anything!" I swear Kiseop would have jumped Yongguk if Eli and Yuri hadn't stopped him. YURI?! What was she doing?! Why was she on such good terms with UKISS? Didn't she know they were BAP's rival.

"Uhmm...It..It wasn't Kiseop's fault! It was mine I didn't watch where I was going. I forgive Zelo of course since it wasn't his fault. I blame my height." Yuri bowed her head in apology to Yongguk and Zelo as if she had offended them in anyway. Kevin patted her back to reassure her it was alright. Kiseop on the other hand still seemed upset over the fact lunch had been spilt on Yuri. Maybe he's just sensitive to the small in general.

"Eh? Is that what happened? Fine but you've been warned!" Yongguk moved in close to Kiseop and pointed at him. He took Zelo my the hood and dragged him away. The cafe was going back to it's usual atmosphere and the conversations took over. I felt the stares of Kiseop behind my back. I looked over my shoulder to acknowledge the glare. All the memebers of Ukiss were huddled around Yuri cleaning her off, I didn't like the feeling. It made me feel like Yuri in  a way did forget me, like as if she had moved on. She didn't need me anymore. Life does change in such a short period of time. I was about to walk of the cafe and onto the next class until I felt somone tugging on my shirt.

"Daehyun! IT'S BROWN!" It took me a second to understand what she meant. Her small finger pointed to my head, meaning my hair colour had change. It's true, after the night she moved I felt I needed something to take my mind off her and thus I became a brunette.

"Well I couldn't stay blonde forever!" I flicked her forehead and kept walking. Yet she kept pulling me back, I'm always being pulled back.

"Walk me to my next class. Oh and show me to my locker! I have to change my shirt!"

"How did I know you'd bring an extra change of clothes. You've been doing that since the first grade when you peed your pants on the first day."

"YAH! Don't say that out loud." Yuri punched my arm and walked along side me. I heard Kevin and Soohyun warn her outloud about me and for her to be careful, I knew her better then they did. Once we exited the cafe and I showed her to her next class I couldn't help but have this gut feeling my high school life was about to change. And it was all going to change because Yuri was back in town.
