Chapter Nine

It was the day of the festival and as expected, a lot of people from different schools even those who were working, attended the school festival.

In Class 2-A, “Welcome to our café young masters and mistresses” Minhyun, Sehun and Hyunjae greeted the customers as they entered the classroom and it made the customers’ hearts flutter that they couldn’t speak at all

“Those three are bringing in a lot of customers” one of the students said “Here is your coffee madame” Hyunjae said as she placed the coffee on the table and gave the customer a sweet smile which made her blush “T-Thank you” she said “Ah~ if I wasn’t part of the staff here I probably would’ve want Miss Hyunjae to serve me” a guy student said

Hyunjae went behind the curtain to check on Eunmi “Eunmi, are you ready? We need a little help on serving the customers” she said “Almost done” Eunmi responded. Moments later, she came out of the mini changing room dressed as a guy and Hyunjae blushed when she saw her “H-How do I look?” she asked as she felt a bit embarrassed
“Eunmi, it’s amazing! You look really handsome!” Hyunjae proclaimed, the other girls also agreed “I wonder how Ren’s doing?” Hyunjae asked but then

“Guys, check it out! Ren’s in demand!” one of their classmates beamed, they went to check it out and Eunmi went (O[]O) when she saw Ren dressed as a girl and he was even prettier than Hyunjae

“N-No way” she said “Woah, he’s even prettier than Miss Hyunjae” “I think they’re about the same” the girls said to each other, then “Hey you two! Get to work!” Minhyun proclaimed “Y-Yes” both Hyunjae and Eunmi said and they continued to work as well

The café was pretty much filled with customers because of the five students, when they saw the rankings, Ren was in 1^st place while Eunmi was on 3^rd place “Eunmi even defeated the real guys, she really is good at this” one of the students said suddenly

“Excuse me, is this Class 2-A’s café?” Baekho asked as he opened the door and Ren and Minhyun were shocked to see them “Yes, welcome to class 2-A’s Western Style café. I’m one of your waitresses, my name is Hyunjae pleased to meet you ^^” Hyunjae greeted them with a sweet smile and the three guys suddenly blushed

“Pleased to meet you, my name is Aaron” Aaron said as held Hyunjae’s hand and was about to kiss it but then Minhyun hit him with a menu “Ouch!” he cried and when he realized that it was actually Minhyun who hit him

“Woah, Hwang Minhyun is that you?” he asked and Minhyun didn’t respond “Your friends?” Hyunjae asked “Kind of, anyway I’ll take care of these guys you go serve the other customers” Minhyun responded “Okay then” Hyunjae said then she went near the other customers.
Minhyun guided them to an available table

“You look good wearing a suit, it makes you look rich” Baekho teased “Shut up (-__-)” said Minhyun “But that girl a while ago, are you two close?” Aaron asked “Kind of” he replied then “By the way, where’s Ren?” JR asked and Ren flinched when he overheard JR asking the question, he decided to walk away so that they won’t see him but then

“Ah! There’s another cute waitress, excuse me!” Aaron called him. He was hesitating if he should go or not but then “Hey waitress, they’re calling you!” Minhyun proclaimed “Screw you Minhyun (>n<)” he said in his thoughts, he slowly turned to them and went near them

“Y-You called?” he said “Why are you bowing your head? You should face us” said Baekho “S-Sorry” Ren slowly looked up and when they saw Ren’s face…

“No way…” said JR “REN!? (O[]O)” Baekho proclaimed “Y-Yes?” Ren responded then the three of them started to laugh “AHAHAHAHA! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT, YOU’RE PRETTY!” Aaron proclaimed “HEY! What’s that supposed to mean? (-___- ;)” Ren responded “He means that you’re pretty now can we have our order?” said JR “Okay2,x, what do you want” said Ren “A lady shouldn’t be talking like that” Baekho teased and Ren made a pissed face and the guys continued to

During the break “NEXT YEAR, I’D RATHER SERVE THE CUSTOMERS WEARING MY UNDERWEAR THAN SERVING THEM DRESSED AS A GIRL” Ren announced then he threw himself on the chair “Eew, that would be disgusting” said Eunmi “You seem to be enjoying dressing up as a guy” Sehun asked “Of course, it’s actually fun and I get to steal your fans” Eunmi responded “(-__-) I don’t really care about my fans though” said Sehun then

“Where are Hyunjae and Minhyun?” Ren asked “Oh, they were sent to go grocery shopping” Eunmi replied “Hmm…” said Ren

In Hyunjae’s case, on the way back from grocery shopping “Why did we have to wear our costumes even though we had to go grocery shopping?” Minhyun whined “That’s because it’s a hassle to take them off and wear them again besides it’s not like they’ll recognize us… oh wait, you’re an idol so they’ll probably recognize you” said Hyunjae and Minhyun glared at her “K-Kidding” she said and kept quiet then

“Uh? Hyunjae?” they turned around and saw Daehyun “Su- I mean oppa!” she responded “I heard that your class was doing a western-style café, you two look great ^^” Daehyun complemented “Thank you” the two of them responded at the same time. Daehyun smiled and turned to Hyunjae “When your shift ends let’s walk around the school together, okay?” he said “O-Okay” she replied as she slightly blushed

“See you later then ^^” Daehyun then continued his way and Hyunjae let out a huge smile

I can’t believe it… Daehyun and I are going to walk around later… it feels as if we’re a couple~!!! (>u< ♥)

Minhyun suddenly smacked her head “OUCH! (; n ;)” she cried “Stop smiling to yourself, it’s creepy” he said then he walked ahead “Pfft, meanie” Hyunjae mumbled and she followed.

After the break, they continued working and as expected, there were a lot of customers in the afternoon and the café became busier

“Welcome to Class2-A’s Western-style café!” Ren greeted and the person right in front of him blushed “R-Ren?” Siwan said “S-S-S-S-Seonsaengnim!?” he proclaimed “Wow, you really do look pretty wearing a girl’s outfit” Siwan complemented “T-Thank you (-///-)” Ren replied then he led Siwan to a table

“By the way, where’s Hyunjae?” he asked “Over there” Ren pointed at a table where Hyunjae was the waitress “HUWAAA~ She’s so cute (>u<) my sister really is cuuute~” he beamed “(^_^ ;) Y-Yeah” said Ren

                When their shift ended, Ren immediately changed back to their uniform and yelled “FINALLY!” “Don’t be too happy, you still have tomorrow’s shift” Eunmi grinned “Screw that (=__=)” he said

“Where’s Hyunjae? I want to walk around with her for a while” Sehun asked “Princess left since she and the student council president will be walking around the school together” Minhyun inserted and Sehun went (=[]=) “Too bad for you” said Eunmi and Ren let out a silent laugh

In Hyunjae’s case, while walking around with Daehyun “You looked really pretty with what you wore a while ago by the way” he said to break the silence
“T-Thank you ^^” Hyunjae responded “You’re welcome” Daehyun said with a smile which made her blush even more I’m even more nervous now, (>.<)

“By the way, on tomorrow’s closing night do you think you could ask Minhyun and his group to perform? We’re kind of short on performers” Daehyun said “Okay” Hyunjae responded “Thank you ^^ and oh, your father just came a while ago and visited our class, I told him that we’ll go together to your class but he said that he didn’t want to disturb you but he’ll come visit tomorrow instead” said Daehyun “O-Oh, I see…” Hyunjae said then she kept quiet, Daehyun noticed that she looked a bit down so he looked around and found an ice cream stall, “You want some ice cream?” he asked then he decided to buy one for her “Thanks” she said as she let out a smile “Thank goodness you’re smiling ^^” he said, she blushed and didn’t say a thing.

After that, they visited the other class’ booths and when they went to Aya’s class… “Aya… your class is doing a haunted house?” Hyunjae asked “Yup! You guys want to go in?” she responded “E-Eh?” said Hyunjae shoot, I can’t! I’m scared (>.<)

“What? Is it that scary that you don’t want to go in?” Aya asked as she noticed that Hyunjae was hesitating to respond “U-Umm.. well” “I think we’ll pass for today, we’ll see you tomorrow” Daehyun said and Hyunjae felt relieved thank you Daehyun

“Okay then, see you guys at the closing tomorrow~” Aya said then the two left. The two of them continued to walk around then “Thanks” she said “Hmm? For what?” Daehyun asked but she didn’t respond, he smiled then patted her on the head “You know you should just say something like ‘you don’t like haunted houses’ or something like that so that you people won’t get confused” he said “Yeah…” Hyunjae responded and after that they continued to check the other classes.

After walking around, Hyunjae went back to their classroom and saw Minhyun and Ren talking with the other members “Ah, good timing” she said to herself and went near them then Aaron noticed her

“Oh, it’s the cute waitress a while ago” he said they turned around and saw Hyunjae “Hyunjae? What is it?” Ren asked “Umm… can I ask a favor?” she responded. Moments later… “Sure/No” they answered and the four of them turned to Minhyun

“No?” JR wondered “What? are you guys expecting to perform for free?” he responded “Like I said, the student council will pay you so pleaaaase?” Hyunjae pleaded, Minhyun looked at her then he grinned “Fine” he said “Really? thanks!” she beamed “But on one condition of course” he added

Condition… I knew it (-_-) but what could he want more? I’m already his slave… what the heck is he thinking this time?

“Hey Minhyun, aren’t you being too much? Besides , why does she have to listen to your condition I mean it’s not like she asked you to perform all by yourself” said Baekho “I-It’s fine” said Hyunjae then “Tomorrow, after the festival our performance, meet me at the roof top. Got it?” he said “Wait, that’s the condition?” Hyunjae asked “Yes” he replied “O-Okay then” she said What the heck? That’s the condition? I’ll just accompany him to the roof top, is he thinking straight? But I shouldn’t complain anyway, that’s what he wants

On the way out of the academy “Seriously, you could’ve told her that ‘you should be my girlfriend’ or something” said Baekho “I agree, telling her to accompany you to the rooftop isn’t even a condition” Aaron added “Shut up you two” said Minhyun then “Heh, you guys look cool on that billboard” JR said as he pointed at the billboard that was hung outside the academy gates “That’s Oh Sehun right? the model?” Aaron asked “Yup, he’s in our class and is also childhood friends with Hyunjae” said Ren “Hmm… by the way how did they get Minhyun to model? Did that girl Hyunjae asked him to?” Baekho asked “Yup but on one condition of course” said Ren “Keh, that Minhyun… even if other girls would give him something in return when he says ‘no’ it’s really a ‘no’ but when it comes to Hyunjae he easily changes his mind like that” said JR “Well isn’t it obvious? He probably likes her” Aaron concluded. The three of them paused for a while and after analyzing what Aaron said, they laughed “What the heck was I saying, that kid doesn’t know what ‘like’ is so it’s impossible” he said “That’s right, they’re probably just friends” JR added

Ren sighed then he turned to Minhyun who was already a few distance away from them “Ah, Minhyun wait!”

                The next day, just the like the first day, the café was crowded. “Table 4’s order…. Table 10’s order….”

“*sigh* another busy day” one of the girls said “Don’t worry, today’s the last day anyway” said Hyunjae “Yeah…” then

“Hyunjae! Your brother’s here to see you” Sehun called “Okay” Hyunjae then went out to greet him but when she got out she was surprised to see the person who was with Siwan “Woah~ your outfit’s cuter today Hyunjae” Siwan said “U-Uh y-yeah” she responded then “Hyunjae…” the man said “Umm, I’ll lead you to your table” she said as she walked ahead

Meanwhile, “Hey isn’t that the chairman?” “What? The chairman’s here?” “Eh? What’s he doing in our class?” “Wait, he’s Hyunjae’s dad right?” “Ah, that’s right” the students said to themselves

“Hyunjae’s dad?” Ren wondered then he turned to the table where Siwan and the chairman where “Woah, he looks scary” he said to himself then he noticed Minhyun approaching them

“Good morning, I’m Hwang Minhyun and I’ll be your waiter for today” he said “Minhyun? Can’t Hyunjae serve us instead?” Siwan asked “I’m sorry but it’s my turn to serve the next customer which is the two of you” Minhyun replied “Oh… sorry about that dad” said Siwan “No it’s fine, I’ll talk to her during her break” the chairman said then he turned to Minhyun and gave his order and Siwan did the same thing.

During their break, Hyunjae went out of the classroom to meet with her dad and Siwan “Dad, you didn’t tell me that you were coming. I just heard from Daehyun oppa” she said “I’m sorry, I wanted to surprise you” the chairman replied “I was surprised” Hyunjae said to herself then

“How about the three of us eat lunch together?” Siwan suggested. At the cafeteria, the students kept on looking at the table where Hyunjae, Siwan and the chairman were

Ugh, people are looking at us. This is so awkward… she looked up to her dad and he was quiet, Siwan was quiet as well while eating, she silently sighed and continued to eat then…

“Hyunjae…” her dad finally spoke “N-Ne?” she responded as he looked at him “The school festival this year isn’t half so bad but I have to say, you still need to work hard. I’m actually not satisfied with it” he said “Y-Yes…” Hyunjae responded Still not satisfied… I knew it… even though I’m just the vice president it feels like I’m the president

“B-But dad, Hyunjae’s not the student council president yet so maybe next year-” “Even if she’s not the president she’s still part of the student council and considered as a leader. Hopefully next year the festival would exceed my expectations” the chairman said and Hyunjae just kept quiet. Moments later she finished eating and stood up “I’m going back, my class needs me” she said without looking at them and left

Siwan sighed then he turned to his dad “You could’ve just said that you were happy to see her doing well, why did you have to say those kind of things?” he said but the chairman just kept quiet. Hyunjae returned to their classroom, forcing a smile on her face
“So what did your dad tell you?” Eunmi asked
“The usual thing he says to me ^^” Hyunjae replied “Are you okay?” she asked “Yup, perfectly fine” Hyunjae answered then she continued working. After lunch, Minhyun and Ren didn’t come back because they had to practice for their performance in the closing ceremony

Class 2-A’s café closed early because they still had to clean up and while cleaning up, Sehun saw Hyunjae spacing out. He went near her and flicked her on the forehead “Ouch!” she cried as she snapped out of it “Sehun? I can’t believe you did that!” she added “Sorry Hyunjae but you were spacing out… is something bothering you?” he asked
“Ah, no. I’m probably tired” she replied “Hmm? Then you should rest for a bit and leave all the cleaning to us” Sehun said then

“Hyunjae, student council room now!” Aya called from outside “Okay *turns to Sehun* I have to go, see you later at the closing ceremony” she said then she left “Uh?” he wondered.

                When it was time for the closing ceremony, the students gathered at the courtyard outside and the program started. The other students who were also part of idol groups, performed and when it was NU’EST’s turn, the girls cheered louder “I wonder why those guys are popular with the girls anyway?” Eunmi asked “I also wonder why” Hyunjae responded. After NU’EST’s performance, other performers went up the stage and performed as well and there was also a mini-play held by the drama club.

Even though Hyunjae was enjoying the closing ceremony, she still couldn’t forget what her dad told her and it made her upset that she got tired so she decided to look for a place to sit, while looking around she accidentally bumped into someone

“Ah, sorry” she apologized “Uh, Im Hyunjae from Class 2-A right?” the guy said, Hyunjae looked at them and realized that they were 3^rd years

Guys from the Third-year class… I wonder what they want now? She nodded her head in reply “What the? Answer us properly! Don’t  you know that you should respect your sunbaes!?” the guy said but then “Sorry sunbae, she’s tired right now and doesn’t want to talk to you plus she has an appointment with me” Minhyun inserted Hwang Minhyun?

He held her hand and the two of them walked away from the third-years. When they were already out of sight… “Hey, let go” Hyunjae said “What? have you forgotten that you still have to accompany me to the rooftop?” he said Ah, right… but I’m not actually in the mood to right now Hwang Minhyun…

“Sorry… but can it be next time? And besides, what’s with that condition of yours anyway? It doesn’t seem like a condition at all plus-” but before Hyunjae could finish what she was saying, Minhyun suddenly lifted her up and she went (!? O[]O) “H-Hey! Put me down!” she proclaimed but Minhyun ignored her and continued to carry her

When they arrived at the rooftop, he finally put her down

“What the heck is wrong with you and rooftops!?” she proclaimed “Hey, a deal’s a deal, sheesh” Minhyun responded. Hyunjae sighed then she sat down “Good thing I brought my bag with me, sheesh” she mumbled as she decided to bring her diary out

She started writing on it then she felt something leaning on her back, she turned and realized that it was Minhyun

“What the?” she said as she was about to complain but then

“Don’t say anything. I’m completely exhausted and want to rest, your back looks comfortable so just let me lean on you for a while, got it?” he said. Hyunjae sighed and agreed “Got it” she said

She didn’t want to argue anymore since she herself was tired as well. Their position was like this

And she started to write in her diary

Dear Diary,

Today’s the last day of the festival. We only had the festival for two days but I have to admit, it was really fun even though I didn’t get to walk around the school and check out the other booths. Honestly, working in a café is tiring and I had to wear those uncomfortable clothes but it was still fun though

Eunmi looked handsome as a guy while Ren looked pretty as a girl. Sehun also looked handsome wearing a suit and it looks good on him (really, whatever models wear would always look good on them) as for Hwang Minhyun… well… he looks okay…err… okay, he looked handsome too (<< wow. That sounds awkward)

Anyway, Daehyun also told me that I looked pretty with the costume I wore... heeheehee… oh and you know what, the chairman –my dad, visited the school and when we talked, he still hasn’t changed. He would still criticize me and tell me how I should improve and such but you know what?

I DID NOT CRY A WHILE AGO! YEAH! \(^o^)/ but still… the fact that he wasn’t satisfied upsets me… well, guess I’ll just have to do my best next year… *sigh*

Then… “Hey” Minhyun said “Hmm?” Hyunjae responded as she continued to write “This school festival… even though we had to work all day long, I have to admit… it is kindda fun” he said “Uh?” Hyunjae said as she stopped writing “Also… I forgot to tell you…” he added “What?” she said “You look pretty wearing those costumes” he said in a normal way but then Hyunjae felt her heart beating fast all of the sudden

W-What the? Why is my heart beating this fast? I mean, Daehyun told me that I looked pretty but my heart didn’t skip a beat at all and yet… when Hwang Minhyun said it… I…

“Hey, say something” said Minhyun “Uh? Heh, what’s wrong with you? Are you really that tired that you would suddenly say strange things?” Hyunjae said idiot. Don’t say that, he was nice enough to tell you that you’re pretty! Shoot, my heart’s really beating fast. Good thing our backs are facing each other or else he’ll know that my heart’s beating fast…

“Your heart’s probably beating fast right now huh?” he said and Hyunjae went (O///O) The heck!? How did he know!? =[]=!?
“Heh, but I don’t think it is… since it’ll only beat fast if that student council president said it” he added
Actually, it’s the complete opposite (-_- ;)
“Anyway… thanks for letting me rest on your back, I feel a bit energized now” he said as he stood up then he went near Hyunjae and offered her a hand, Hyunjae looked up to him and he was smiling “U-UH? (･///･)”  she took his hand and stood up and when she got back on her feet, the fireworks display suddenly appeared and both of them were in awe that they weren’t aware they were still holding hands

“Woah, now this is what you call a closing ceremony” she said “Yeah” Minhyun agreed, moments later, Hyunjae realized that she was actually holding hands with Minhyun, she glanced at him but he wasn’t aware, he was still looking at the fireworks

Why? Why is my heart beating this fast towards Minhyun? Even if I was with Daehyun yesterday, my heart didn’t beat this fast so why? Why Minhyun? I’m really confused…

Then “Ah, there you are!” they heard Ren’s voice from behind, they turned around and saw Ren, Eunmi and Sehun and Hyunjae immediately let herself go from Minhyun’s grip and it surprised him then he realized that he was actually holding Hyunjae’s hand just a moment ago

“Uh? What’s wrong with you two? You’re so red” said Eunmi “Eh?” Hyunjae said “W-We’re not” Minhyun added “Hmm, anyway… we should’ve watched the fireworks display here, the views greater at the rooftop!” Eunmi beamed “You said it” Ren agreed, Sehun turned to Minhyun then turned to Hyunjae “Something definitely happened to those two” he said to himself

For the next few days, whenever Hyunjae and Minhyun would see each other, Hyunjae would turn away or she would go the other way and it was starting to irritate him

During lunch time “You can come out now, I don’t see Minhyun around” Eunmi said and Hyunjae went out of the girl’s restroom, “Thank goodness” she said “Why are you even avoiding him? Did he do something to you when the two of you were alone at the rooftop?” Eunmi asked and Hyunjae flinched “N-N-No, he didn’t do anything” she said Sorry Eunmi, I can’t tell you what exactly happened plus I’m avoiding him because I don’t know how to face him after what happened. I also need to find out why my heart’s beating fast for him
 “Hmm…” Hyunjae looked around and didn’t see Minhyun but when they turned to the corner, she accidentally bumped into someone

“I’m sorry” she apologized suddenly “Oh? Look who we have here” the guy said and Hyunjae felt a sudden chill when she heard his voice, she looked up and her guess was right, it was Minhyun. “Long time no see princess” he said as he gave her a cold smile she gulped and let out a weak smile then he grabbed her hand and left with her

“What the? What’s with those two?” Eunmi asked “Dunno” Ren replied.

At the rooftop (lol XD they’re always talking at the rooftop, well let’s just say that they’re always alone when they go there :D) “Alright, explain” Minhyun said in a pissed voice “E-Explain what?” Hyunjae responded as she was looking around but Minhyun was getting impatient that he gave Hyunjae a cold glare Shoot, he’s mad. Of course he’s mad. I purposely avoid him which makes him mad but what am I going to tell him?

“Why are you avoiding me?” he asked “Err…” What should I say? ‘Because my heart beats fast when I;m near you’ ha! What a stupid answer, there’s no way I would say that!

“Hey, answer me!” he proclaimed “I-I…” she said. He couldn’t take it anymore that he suddenly pinned Hyunjae on the wall “Tell me the truth of I’ll really do something to you” he said in a threatening voice, Hyunjae felt pressured and immediately blurted out

“BECAUSE WHEN I’M NEAR YOU MY HEART BEATS REALL FAST AND I DON’T KNOW WHY!” and Minhyun was shocked

Ah, STUPID! I SAID IT. O____O

She turned to Minhyun and saw the surprised expression on his face “You…” he said Oh no… this is it… I’m done for it (TT___________TT)
