The host called me on stage for my last act to render song to the crowd. As I stepped on the stage, I felt my fragile heart slowly breaking into pieces. I heard it crushing down the floor. “This song is to those guys out there who can’t find the strength to say these words, Can I call you mine? to your special someone you’re falling in love secretly right now.”

As instrumental part of song played in background, I saw Jessica standing at the very back part of the club. It was dim yet the yellow light striking her face was enough for me to see her hazily.

As I sang the first part of the song, I knew right then she was listening to me. I knew right then she was feeling every depth of the lyrics. I saw her wiping her tears with a small smile on her face.

until the day that I, can call you mine

As the chorus came, she started walking slowly towards the stage. She walked like a flying robot, floating in the mid-air.

Music was our common ground. And I think, it was the only way for her to understand what was going on inside me. I knew I didn’t make a mistake in choosing to reveal my heart through music.

For once in my life
I have found what I am looking for
I know I’m right
that its you I’m asking for

Is there any way 
I can make you stay 
another life times not enough for you

And finally, Jessica was taking few steps to reach me. In a matter of minutes, she was right there in front of me—standing with glee.

“We’re connected through bittersweet melodies of the songs we sang together, through heart-breaking and heart-warming lyrics we sing for years. Tonight, I’m looking forward to be connected with you through music but through red string of faithful love. Jessica, can I call you my mine forever?” I queried in front of the big crowd. Not bothered of the answer I was going to hear that night.

“Yes...Yes…You’re mine as I am yours, Mr. Lee.” She finally answered as she swung and wrapped her arms around me.

I couldn’t put into words how happy I was. But one thing was for sure, my fragile heart wasn’t a fragile anymore. It’s unbreakable because of her great love. “I love you, Jess…I love more than anything in this world.”

“I love you, too, Hae.”
