The next day after that day, Jessica started avoiding me for no obvious reasons. She didn’t talk to me for quiet some time. I wanted to ask her what was wrong, but whenever I neared her, she just walked away. I noticed that it all started after that day. She didn’t know everything. She didn’t know.

It was evening when a couple requested me to sing a song for their anniversary that night. “This next song is dedicated to the couple right here celebrating their anniversary tonight here.” I announced then started singing the song.

After my performance, Jessica stepped on the stage with a gloomy mood. I still bothered by her sudden changed of mood. Yet I know she was doing fine. “This next song is to those people suffering from heartaches and heartbreaks. Sing with me if you know the song.” She said before sitting in a high chair. She closed her eyes as the instrumental started playing.

After her performance, when she finally off the stage, I went to the back room where she always hid herself during the times that she wasn’t on stage, performing. When I stepped in, I saw her with a lowered head in front of the big mirror. I heard her sniffing.

“What’s wrong?” I said as I tapped her shoulder.

She shrugged her shoulders before saying, “Nothing”.

I sat beside her and held her hands. My heart started throbbing like a drum. “Tell me, what’s wrong?” I said, giving her a shoulder to cry on for free.

“I—I’m so much in pain lately.” She revealed.

“I’m more in pain than you.” I said.

She held her head high and that revealed her wet face. Her eyes were crying. And I saw pain inside her eyes. “Why do you say that?” she asked as she started wiping her tears away.

“Because I didn’t know I love someone. And it pained me to her cry tonight.” I whispered as I helped her wiped her tears away.

“I’m crying because I knew the guy I love for so long is in love with someone else.” She said, wearing her heart on her sleeves.

I wanted to reveal my feelings for her. Yet I didn’t have the courage to do so. But I knew a song would make it up perfectly. So, I decided singing a song for her from the bottom of my heart. It was my only way to reach her heart and touch it, so that she could feel me.

And I held her hand, kiss it and placed it near to my heart. As I wanted to plant a kiss on her forehead, she dashed out of the room and never came back. I felt disappointed revealing my heart to her.
