♥PROLOGUE♥

Forever Yours. Those words had already been imprinted into the depths of my heart and I soul. There was no longer a need for me to look at the words, it’s shape and form was already in my mind even before I looked at it.
Each and each curve, had tied itself to me and had never let go. My finger traced the creases that lined the crumpled piece of paper that I so gently cradled in my hand.
When my heart began to thud faster and my throat became filled with sobs wanting desperately to escape, I swiftly tucked it back into my wallet - where I could look at it again from time to time.

Outside, the rain was washing my window and nourishing the grass outside. As the rain water found it’s way to the drain, I felt that maybe a piece of me had opened up, letting the cold soak through my body, into my flesh, blood and bone.
The water droplets chased each other, racing to reach the finishing line where they would jump up and leave tiny bits of themselves on my window pane - just the way he had left so much of him inside of me. My fingers diligently followed any droplets that I could, and I used the cold on the outside, to try and drown out the cold within.
Seeing the rain cascading down my window, my own raindrops threatened to spill over, begging to escape. I fought them. Each time harder than the last. Sometimes I won. But most of the time a few tripped over, following the slope of my face and sinking into my pillow. As I rested my head against the hard chilly surface, I retraced what little memories I had of him, each one leaving a bigger whole than the first…

What did “Forever Yours” even mean, if he wasn’t even here?
What good could promises do, if they were made to be broken and just hurt you even more?
However. I would have rather been hurt, than to have felt nothing at all…
