Need a Break.
Whimsical Chaos
Before anyone realised, three months had rolled by and it was now reaching the end of the first term. Seoul Arts was busier than ever. The usual vibrancy and excitement was replaced by anxiousness and tension as students studied and practiced for the end of term exams and evaluations. Meanwhile teachers finalised the exam contents and schedules. Consequently, Sehun and Chanyeol were staying late after school on a daily basis, combing through all minute details for what was to come.
Even Hendery found himself spending more and more time in the library, in the company of the trusted Kun who mothered everyone, making sure that they were not slacking off. Doyoung was more of a wild card; he was a smart guy and easily got top grades without having to put in too much effort, thus his presence in the library was not always a positive influence on those who really needed to up their game for the traditional subjects. However even Doyoung did not dare get in the way of Kun, after all, he may excel in the traditional subjects but he still needed Kun’s help in the music related subjects, and as much as he did not wish to admit it, his dancing needed quite a bit of work as well.
“We’re done!” Jaemin exclaimed with excitement, earning a glare from the librarian.
Ducking his head down, Jaemin nudged Chenle and Jinsung, and the three first years hurriedly gathered their books, ready to make their escape.
“Have fun studying. We’re off!”
Kun waved at the younger males while Hendery blew a raspberry, jealous of the kids.
“Kun, can’t we call it a day as well?”
“No. You tanked the previous maths quiz so you better review all of Doyoung’s notes until you can recite them in your sleep.”
Doyoung sniggered at the sight of Hendery horrified look, though the mirth drained out from his system upon hearing Kun’s next words.
“You can have fun torturing Doyoung later when he needs help with dancing.” Giving Doyoung a light smirk Kun added. “No one’s safe.”
Hendery stared at the notebook in front of him, his eyes hurting from trying to decipher the numbers and symbols scribbled all over the page.
“Who decided to add letters to maths anyway?” Hendery huffed. “Mr Oh must be a masochist for actually enjoying teaching this.”
“All teachers are sadists with hint of masochism,” Doyoung interjected. “Just look at Mr Park, he usually looks all chill and cheery, the embodiment of a gentle giant, but morphs into a goblin when evaluation time happens.”
“Nice looking people are always the scariest,” Kun commented, not looking away from his textbook.
“Of course you would know,” Doyoung muttered under his breath. “You belong in the same category.”
Kun grabbed his pencil case, ready to give Doyoung a good smack in the head. Hendery however ignored the silly exchange between his two friends and sought for distraction from outside the window. It appeared as though someone heard his prayers because his eyes landed on Jiwoo waltzing through the courtyard with an ice cream in hand.
“I need the toilet.”
Not waiting for a response, Hendery skipped his way out of the library, just in time to catch Jiwoo entering the building. Joining her, Hendery gave her a gummy smile and attempted to steal her ice cream, however Jiwoo reacted faster and jabbed him in the ribs in retaliation, making him double over in pain.
“Don’t you dare steal my ice cream,” Jiwoo warned the younger male. “Now go hang out with someone your age.”
“Please I’m trying to escape from people my age,” Hendery grumbled. “All they talk about now is exams and grades. I need a break.”
“You’ll get a break next week, once summer holidays start,” Jiwoo stated as a matter of fact.
“Well I’m taking a break now,” Hendery quipped, eyeing the folde
