Chapter 5 - Denial

From red to black then baby blue

Chapter 5

Jongins first stage of denial lasted one week.

He was convinced that his Wife wouldn’t be able to survive on her own.

And that she loved him too much to leave.

The second stage of anger came a week later.

How could she leave me?

Why doesn’t she answer my calls?

Did she have an affair?

Does she love anyone else now?

Does she even love me anymore?

The final stage of was defeat.

Jongin knew if she didn’t come back after a month she wasn’t coming back at all.

He searched for her, hanging around places she liked.

He tried to visit her parent’s home but they didn’t even let him in.

She was gone.

He didn’t know anything could hurt this much.

---------------------------

Jong in grunted as someone knocked on his door

"Jong in! I heard your Wife left. Finally."

His PA announced as she plopped onto his office sofa.

"I have been waiting for so long. It was so hard to get rid of her."

She groaned stretching her arms above her head.

Jong in looked up so quickly that a sharp snap sound could be heard.

"Excuse me?"

He snapped.

"Aren't you happy we can finally be together. I've been waiting for months ugh."

She replied as she played with her nails.

"YOU! IT WAS YOU! “

He seethed.

Hana jumped in her seat.

There her employer stood, he was angry. Very angry.

"Get out. Don't ever show up in front of me again."

“B-but jongi-"

"I SAID GET OUT."

He screamed slamming his palm on the table.

Hana quickly ran out of the room.

Jong in sighed.

Now he understood.

It was her.

-------------

Mrs kim sighed as her son sighed for the umpteenth time. He was clearly depressed without his wife. Not able to function, not even a bare minimum.

She quickly applied for a months’ leave for him to get his together.

Most of the month he lazed around being upset.

One of the days he decided to go out.

Aimlessly driving, ended up in a small neighbourhood.

"I remember she wanted to live here."

He mumbled as he drove pass a small park. Before pulling over to grab groceries at a local supermarket.

Entering the store, he grabbed a basket and walked towards the snacks aisle, craving for potato chips. At the end of the row was a lady whose back view looked so much like his wife.

Sadly, he turned away searching for one of her favourite snacks.

After placing it in his basket he looks up, the lady was now facing Him

It was indeed His Wife.

Sat in her baby carrier was a young baby happily looking up at his Mother.

She has a child.

She was too busy cooing at her baby to realise Jongin was standing right in front of her

She sees him and freezes.

"I-i found you."

He whispers as his voice cracks.

They sit in a cafe.

He orders her favourite Americano.

"I finally know why you left."

She sighed.

"I don't want to talk about it, I've moved on and we're divorced."

She moves to stand up, not remembering why she even agreed to drink coffee with him anyway.

"We're still married."

She freezes.

"I didn't sign the form. I just couldn't."

He replies.

"What's wrong with you? "

She stared at his face.

"Sign it. We're over. "

"I-I can't."

He sighs as a tear traced his cheek.

"I was hoping you'd come back."

He smiled sadly.

"I missed you a lot. "

He laughed slightly.

"Even after all the bad things I have done to you and what my mother did. I should leave you alone. But I can't. I still love you too much."

More tears ran down his cheeks.

She had already left, walked out the cafe doors. Not listening to a single word he said.

Accidentally found this story and i was hooked! Binge reading it on a single seating. It was a simple cute with slight angst short story that I liked. Love the happy ending at the end. Thank you for writing this ❤️

Chapter 12: I'm happy Sohee came back to him. And an epilogue would be nice! Maybe some family time and a scene with Jongin's mother in it. I want her to meet her grandson :( What she did to Sohee and the family is horrible.
