I'm Not Alone

When I Can’t Sleep ::

Jiyong walk slowly.

Regret the decisions that he made before.

He regrets it in every breath that he takes.

The day he let her went away.

The day he said that he didn’t love her.

He lied.

He loves her, more than anything in the world. She was his everything.

But he had to let her go.

He doesn’t want her to know. He doesn’t want her to suffer.

Live in painful memories of him.

It’s better to leave her this way.

That she will hate him for breaking up with her.

And she will never know the truth.

That he will leave her eternally.

He won’t be there for her again.

Teasing her when she’s angry, to help her when she need one, to lend her his shoulder when she cried.

Jiyong strolled over the alley.

Looking at the café where Dara work part time.

This is what he’s doing for the past month, his daily routine.

Become her guardian angel.

He’s watching over her for he was concern over her safety.

He doesn’t want anything bad happen to her.

But he’s doing it without Dara’s realize it.

He won’t forget himself if something happen to her.

Seeing her face from the café window, he let out a sighed.

He saw her bumped into the coffee table.

His lips curved to form a smile.

Clumsy Dara.

He then saw her apologize to the customer, bowing her head few times.

She will never change.

His Dara.

The woman that he loves.

But soon, he can’t see her again.

He clutched his hand where his heart is.

He missed holding her in his hands again.

To kiss her lips.

To hear her laugh.

But he knows that he will have to be cruel.

He leans on the wall for support, feeling the tiredness eating over him.

He doesn’t have much time left.

He saw the light in the café being turned off and Sandara walked out waving goodbye to her co-worker.

He followed her from behind, keeping his distance, so she won’t notices him.

Sandara walked slowly, she stops by to look at the sky, mesmerizing the stars.

Her tears fall without her permission.

She wiped her tears, before started to walk again.

Jiyong have to stop and lean to the lamp post to support himself.

He closed his eyes.

He saw her crying.

He feels sorry that he was the reason for her cries.

He caused all the pain in her heart.

But there’s nothing that he could do.

He’s dying.

It’s better for her to learn to live without him.

Soon, Dara arrived at her apartment block.

Jiyong saw her climb the stairs slowly.

He waited from quite far away.

He saw the light at her living room being lit up.

He knows she was safe now. He stands there for a while.

Know that he might not be able to see her ever again.

He hugged himself, feeling cold.

He saw her light was turned off, and he turn to walked away.

:::

She saw him walk away.

She’s standing on her bedroom window.

Tears fell through her cheek.

She doesn’t even bother to wipe her tears.

Watching him slowly disappeared.

She knows that he was always following her home for the past few months.

But she didn’t confront him.

She knows that he might have his own reason.

She once goes to his apartment, but he moved out, changing his cellphone numbers, like he wanted to erase her from his life.

While she didn’t, afraid that he can’t find her ever again if she moved or changing her numbers.

Why does he always watching over her?

It makes it even harder for her to move on.

But she missed to see him again.

And knowing that he’s watching over her, being almost near with him, made her feel happy.

That is enough for her, she couldn’t ask for more.

But she knew something was wrong with him. He seems weak.

Sandara lie down and fall asleep.

:::

Jiyong try to get up, but failed.

He felt extremely cold.

Is this the end? He asks himself.

He calmed himself.

Telling himself that he was ready.

That he doesn’t have anything left.

He closed his eyes. Feeling tired of his situation, of his sickness.

He hides it from everyone else. He doesn’t need their sympathy; he doesn’t want to be a burden.

Sandara, suddenly the name crosses his mind.

His heart felt heavy.

There’s nothing that he can do now.

He only wishes for her happiness.

And pray for her safety.

He wanted to listen to her voice so badly; he won’t regret dying now if he can hear her voice ever again.

With the energy that left, Jiyong grabs his hand phone and dialed a number.

:::

Sandara stand in front of the café where she worked.

She didn’t see Jiyong today.

He wasn’t there, the place that he always stands while waiting for her. She wonders why he wasn’t coming tonight.

She let out a sigh.

She started to walked when her hand phone ringing.

Unknown number.

“Hello.”…

Listening to the voice he wanted to hear.

Hello? Who is this?”

“It’s me. Dara-ah.”

Sandara eyes widened hearing the voice that she longed for.

“Jiyong”…

“Dara-ah. I’m sorry. I know that you suffer a lot. I’m sorry that I lie to you, just to get away from you. The truth is, I can’t forget you, and I never forget you. Forgive me.”…

Dara smiles while her tears drop.

“And I still care for you. I miss to hold you so much.”...

Smile at the thought that Jiyong is finally admit that he still care for her.

“I love you, I always love you. You know that?”

Dara nodded her head like Jiyong is somewhere near, watching her.

“I love you too, Jiyong.”

“But I can’t be with you again. I have to go away from here.”

“No, don’t leave me again,” she said.

“Please...” she begged him.

Silent.

Jiyong cried.

Thinking how she going to live knowing that he won’t be alive any minute from now.

He wants to say how much he wanted to be with her, to be near her but they can’t be together again.

Separate in different world.

“I can’t. Dara-ah. I’m sorry. I have to go. But remember that I always love you..”…

That was his last words.

::: sorry.. :(
